So, Hongjoong wrote this song during his trainee days? And this song shows how how he felt when he had no one to train with when he came into the company, when one day after 6 months, Yunho came in, and one by one, the other members did as well. Like, if you see the choreography, you can see how the way they incorporated this choreography to this song is just wow...incredibly beautiful and touching and I'm so frickin' proud of him and the rest of ATEEZ! They've come thus far and ahhhhh it just makes me so emotional right now! :(

sunrise is a song that hongjoong cried while composing. i read a tweet saying the lyrics are from his journal during trainee days (?) he was the only trainee back then for 6 months, he was alone (1:32) but yunho came to the company next right, making hongjoong have someone to enjoy with (1:34) and other members keep coming one by one, and at the end they are together, the eight of them making one team (3:02) bye, i'm just making myself cry.

I remember seeing Ateez members talk about Sunrise but I had no idea of how beautiful and meaningful this song was until I looked up the lyrics. I hope Hongjoong writes more songs in the future because he's truly a great songwriter and this has become my favorite Ateez's song now. I really needed to hear these words at this time of my life. May I suggest listening to all the songs in all their albums in chronological order while reading the lyrics? You will find how tight the concept of these Pirate Kings on their journey is. And its so beautiful!
I feel so glad that Yeosang has so many parts on this song. His voice's color perfectly suits the song. However, my baby Wooyoung as well as San has the least part on this. So saddening 😕
I think Yeosang gets the least lines in most songs as it is, so please appreciate that San and Wooyoung always deliver during their lines here and in other songs. We know everyone's voice is beautiful, so at least they get their time to shine. And there would be more lines to give if they weren't singing together, but it wouldn't have the same effect. This is why there are multiple songs to enjoy tho, because no one in a group can simply display ALL that they have to offer vocally in just one song when others have to be taken into consideration. The important thing is that all of the boys are able to deliver their lines well and add something meaningful (their voice) to the song.

Everyone calls their fav idols “vocal kings” but nobody DEMANDS to sing live with ZERO lip syncing like Ateez does. And nobody has the reputation for “crazy choreo” and being “crazy dancers” like Ateez (they even manage to maintain PHENOMENAL steady vocals while performing those insane choreos too!).
The fact that they a group of all-rounders is icing on the cake. There’s a reason Korea’s Ministry of Sports, Culture and Tourism named them 4th Generation Leaders. There’s also a reason they’re idolized and emulated by younger groups. Not to put ANYONE down (bc all idols work their asses off!) but I feel like these guys are special.
