That is a stunning piece and looked awesome on the cheapest nato strap. Yes the seiko strap did look so much better flipped around. How comfortable are deployent clasps. I feel that the clasp would be uncomfortable and irritating thus so far avoided them. Please advise. Nice to see your channel growing as you approach 1000 subscribers. Keep up the good content my friend.
Yeah I think that it worked well on that black strap! For me, the clasp was comfortable and didn't dig in to my wrist. You can see marks on my wrist, but those are from the Orient Star clasp. I think they make it really nice and easy to put the watch on. Great if you're going to use a leather strap on your everyday watch. Thank you and I most certainly will! :)
I bought this because I needed a dress watch for a wedding. As the name "cocktail time" implies, it is definitely made to be worn in the evening: the dial pattern comes alive in a room that is softly lit but with a few bright points of light. The only problem is that I enjoyed looking at it so much, people might have thought I was impatient for the event to end!
This is amazing dial! And the watch's dimensions are perfect. Thank you for watch demonstration with different straps. I am really started thinking to get own this pice of art.
They do a special addition with a Milanese strap. I was so impressed, I bought one for my Presage in the same colour as the one you reviewed, and it looks fantastic. As lovely as the watch looks, at the full retail price it is very expensive. Mineral crystal and a 4R35 movement is poor for a watch costing £400 in the UK ($500). Mine was running +72spd, so I had to regulate it. Seiko QC is terrible
That's true. I still find it worth the money thanks to the great looks. The hardlex is also alright I think because of the boxed shape (which I understand is pretty expensive with sapphire). Sorry to hear that it is not running within specs. Did you regulate it yourself or send it back because it was running outside of specs?
Hello, have you ever faced the accuracy problem of automatic watches? For example, my Seiko 4R35 movement Presage watch was lagging by 10-15 seconds every day. I sent it to the service, they said the clock has been fixes and sent it back to me, and now it goes forward 5 seconds a day. I can't enjoy the watch when worrying about this. Do you think it is normal for an automatic watch to deviate by 1 minute per week? Can you touch on this subject a little bit? Let's also say a mechanism that gives a deviation of plus 35 minus 45 seconds per day. I wouldn't mind if my watch was 5 seconds behind today or 10 seconds ahead tomorrow. However, when it constantly move forward by 5 seconds a day, it really upsets me. Do you think I'm worrying too much? Can you explain a little bit please? Thanks a lot!
Hi! This is absolutely normal for mechanical watches, and can only be resovled when you go really, REALLY high in price category. For example, there is a COSC certification, for which a watch has to be within -4 to +6 seconds per day consistently. Personally, I see it as an advantage if your watch consistently goes fast or slow. In that case you always know that you have to tweak it every week or so. If it's more haphazard and varies from slow to fast, then you always have to check which direction you should adjust it. It's completely normal for a 4r35 movement to be +25 seconds per day for example. This can be adjusted by a watchmaker if you want to pay them. Some people do the regulating themselves, but I would not recommend that without experience, because you risk damaging the watch.
Nice review and thanks for the high quality video. I have not got a chance to see this directly and I have been wondering if the pattern in the dial is really a 2.5D relief or it is actually flat. if it is a 2.5D relief, how they can print the word "Presage" on it.
Thanks! I don’t know if it’s flar or has some depth, the pattern is really convincing in person. On the other hand, if it’s not flat I have no idea how they made that printing happen😁
It’s a stunner! I have quite limited experience with milanese straps so I’m the wrong guy to give the best tips on that. I do know that geckota does a decent job with everything at a fair price, so I’d go with them if I were in the market for a milanese :)
Hey! Can you share your review after using all these years , review of the Hardex front on the watch? Does it scratch easily? I'm thinking of getting one!
Hi mate! I actually sold this watch to one of my close friends, who still has it and use it a lot. Last time I had a look at it, it looked pretty much as good as when I sold it to him years ago. But of course if you fall or something and hit it hard on a sharp surface, then who knows. But in basic use it's held up well!
If you mean the gray one, it’s from Colareb :) I’m pretty sure the model is ”Venezia”. Colareb makes some seriously good straps. Can’t recommend them enough!
Thank you! Glad to hear it and I will👍🏻 The grey leather is from Colareb, perlon strap and the black leather one with vintage stitching from cheapestnatostraps, and then the nato is from another enthusiast, I don’t know the brand🧐
Well the looks are very unique! If price wasn't a variable, it would be quite a difficult argument to prove this to be better than a Rolex :D But maybe the value you get per unit of money is better! :)
I don't, but a close friend of mine still has it. The crystal looks good as new in his case! That of course depends on how careful you are with it. But he has been using it in normal everyday wear, and it's fine.
Thanks for the review. My concern with dark - colored dials, silver hands and no reflective coating is the legibility in low light situations. In this case, what has been your experience so far? Are there instances when it is hard to tell the time at first glance? Please let me know. Cheers!
Thank you for your comment! Well, it is of course not the most legible dial in the world but I didn't have any problems with it. Naturally, military and pilot style watches will be more legible, but I never found myself in a situation where I wasn't able to read the time at a glance :) The biggest problem for me was looking at that dial and remembering to look at the time also :D No joke, I often just glared at the dial and once I looked away I had forgotten to look at the time haha!
I really wanted to watch this review as I am in the market for a cocktail time, but I gotta ask, were you gardening with those gloves on before the review?
I love the look of that watch, I plan to get it myself but I wish the watch box had the exact same style as the face of the watch. The plain white just does not go with the design of the watch. If the box had the pattern of the watches face designed on it, it will stand out quite a bit.
It would be a fun touch for sure! For me the packaging just goes in a drawer. If I wouldn’t keep them in case I want to sell a watch, I would probably throw them away😁
Off the top of my head, I would quote the states accuracy (minimum) of the 4r35 movement to be -35sec/+45sec per day. I haven’t measured this one myself, but to my understanding they tend to perform much closer to zero than the stated accuracy suggests. Often times the performance seems to land within -10/ +10 sec per day. It’s really just luck of the draw with these. Even if I measured +1sec on mine, that doesn’t say anything about another watch.
Nice review!, I own the very same model, I was about to pick the red one but as for pics I found in the web, dial pattern seemed less crisp, like blurred, am I wrong? I'm also not into formal watches but with the straps you showed it look way casual and cool 👍🏻
Thank you! Good choice my friend👌🏻 I don’t think it is any less crisp but I see what you mean. It does look like it in the pictures and I think that the texture might not pop on the red dial as it does on the blue variant. But I think that’s just due to the way the colors behave or something :) Yeah this one dressed down surprisingly well! Thanks for sharing!
Well sure if you find a bracelet for them. But I don’t think any of them come with a bracelet from Seiko (except for the ones on a mesh, but I think you mean a traditional bracelet). Maybe some aftermarket bracelet manufacturers might have a model for it? I’m thinking UncleSeiko or similar.
I used to have the sarb065 you can see how it looks on my wrist on my first state of the collection video! For me personally the old cocktail time was too big even though I loved the dial too. 40-41mm is very large in a dresswatch because the bezel is so narrow and most of the diameter consists of the dial. The best thing with the new ones is the smaller size in my opinion :)
I just got the one in emerald. I find the setting of date different from other watches. Usually to set the date, I’ve to pull the crown out twice. But for the range, it seems there is no double pull. That means if my watch stops on 1 Jun, and it is now 30 Jun, I have to turn the time 60 times till the date hits 30th?
First of all, nice choice! This watch has the 4r35 movement and there should be a double pull. The first one for date quick set and the second one for setting the time.🤔
I’m not sure. My guess is that the usual result is no. If a store fills in the watch details and gives the guarantee card their stamp, you might. Ibwouldn’t count on it.
I received this in the mail today and it's TINY! I don't even have a big wrist and I just can't get over how small it looks. Probably going to send it back because it's just not for me.
Oh really? I guess that depends on what you’re used to.. dress watches above 40mm are generally considered large, so this is quite a medium size. But it all comes down to preference :)
This was my previous purchase. Nice watch, but for this pricetag the case finish and the crystal should be better. It looks and feels like a 200 € watch.
Hmm I could see your point with the case maybe.. but not sure if its ”badly” finished even though it’s quite boringly just polished. As for the crystal, I like the vintage style box shaped hardlex. It’s just a fact that a brand like Seiko is not going to make a watch with all the goods for around 400 € even though they probably could👎🏼
Mineral hardlex… Why not a saphir glass ? With no reflect traitement. Here we can see how the glass shine and reflect light… With a saphir its like you have no glass, and the color of the cadran its 100% reflect the light. Saphir is better
Yes but sapphire only is like that when it has anti-reflective coating. For example the Seiko sarb033 does not have AR-coating on the sapphire and it glares like crazy in the sunlight. Most sapphires will have AR though.. I like the retro shape of this mineral hardlex. That is very expensive to make with sapphire because it is such a hard material.
Yeah well the ratings don't quite mean exactly what they "say". Should be able to go swimming if I remember correctly, but I personally would not. Both "just in case" and also because I always wear it on a leather strap and would never wear it on a beach etc :)
That's true! But that's also true for most watches with detailed patterns on the dial etc. Can't be seen without bright lights, especially if the dial is a darker shade.
Maybe you should look in to the old cocktail time models! They don't have numbers on them. I prefer this one though.. I think the numbers are quite classy.
Yeah, Japanese watches usually have the clasp on the other way. They want to show the "nicer" side to other people, and look at the "uglier" side themselves. That's why, apparently. I don't really like the original strap either, it's too shiny and stiff. Much rather wear it on something else :)
You’re not wrong. But then again, can’t get everything at this price. There’s nothing really in this watch that I feel a 6r movement would make considerably better. Or for me, it wouldn’t be worth an increase in price.
That is a stunning piece and looked awesome on the cheapest nato strap.
Yes the seiko strap did look so much better flipped around.
How comfortable are deployent clasps. I feel that the clasp would be uncomfortable and irritating thus so far avoided them. Please advise.

“Long time no Seiko” ☺️
I’m pleased, nice to see that amazing dial again!
Haha, at least long time no Seiko REVIEW! Should have phrased that a little differently xD
Seiko really does do the best dials. I own the Mockingbird but can see myself buying others in the range.
This one really is a testament to Seiko’s expertise🙌🏼
I bought this watch and i love it so much. 😍. Its perfect Win for me.. Anyone planning to buy this please go for it. You won't regret.
Wise words!😉 Glad to hear that you have found the perfect watch for you😎
Hey! Can you share your one-year review of the Hardex front on the watch? Does it scratch easily? I'm thinking of getting one!
Just bought this from a local watch store and it’s absolutely stunning! Thanks for the great review.
Great choice! Congrats👍🏻 The dial is a homerun for sure! More than lives up to the earlier cocktail times😎
This is amazing dial! And the watch's dimensions are perfect. Thank you for watch demonstration with different straps. I am really started thinking to get own this pice of art.
Agree! Great size and stunning dial. I can really recommend it!
The size of this watch plus the dial make this watch a great dress watch. I am glad Seiko is going back to smaller size watches.
Yeah it does! I’m also very glad about that. The larger cocktail times are too big for me.

Hey can you post a link to the Colareb strap? Is this black or brown? I am getting this watch and the combination really looks yummy! thx :)
Hi! I'm quite sure that it's the grey Venezia. Here:
colareb.it/en/collections/all-products/products/venezia?variant=39259303837876
I have a pretty skinny wrist as well and this looks like the perfect size. And that dial - wow, that's absolutely gorgeous!
It’s great that they finally made a 38mm cocktail time. The 40mm ones just don’t want to work on a slim wrist!

I just bought one today from HK, a stunning dial watch, I will change the strap also.... A cheap watch with luxury appearance
Congrats! This dial is spectacular when seen live! The camera doesn’t quite do it justice even though it looks great on video too!

Is this better than the coctail blue moon bracelete edition? Srpb41j1
Well I personally prefer it. It has pretty much the same spes, but I think this dial is more beautiful and the size is definitely better for my wrist!
Would this work with a steel bracelet instead of leather and fabric straps?
If you can find one that fits nicely! I think it would work nice on a mesh bracelet!
Has Seiko come up with a sapphire crystal on the same watch yet?
Not to my knowledge no. I haven’t researched the limited editions but I’m pretty sure they all come with the same box-shaped hardlex
No

What size wrist you got? I got a 6.75 wrist. so i also look for smaller faced watches
About the same! Mine is usually a bit smaller at approx. 6,5 inches! This would be a great size for you!

I am searching for a bracelet for this watch! Any suggestions?
Hmm, not aware of bracelets for it. Have you checked Uncleseiko?

Unless this dial has tons of light/sunshine, it’s just another blue watch. You’ll be disappointed unless it’s bright outside. Sold mine
That's true! But that's also true for most watches with detailed patterns on the dial etc. Can't be seen without bright lights, especially if the dial is a darker shade.

The Strap is from Colareb!
Spectacular
Thank you! This is a stunning watch!
They should combine this dial with the power reserve and small seconds complications from cocktail series.
That would be interesting! Maybe the dial would get a little bit too busy? I’m not sure🧐
Finnish accent ... immediately I get the impresion this not going to be some BS story.
Haha thank you I appreciate that! Hope the video lived up to the initial impression!
Beautiful ⌚
The dial is stunning!
I really like this, but probably won’t buy it unless I can find a sapphire replacement crystal.
Any crystal can be replaced!
I find the hardlex crystal charming! But sure, probably can be replaced.
Just bought...$285.
That's a great deal mate!!
Ótimo Relógio bonito
I agree😊👍🏻 Eu concordo!
Got the Mojito for £320 new
Good deal my friend!
Would look near perfect without the numbers
Maybe you should look in to the old cocktail time models! They don't have numbers on them. I prefer this one though.. I think the numbers are quite classy.
@@NordicWatchChannel I have a pressage blue moon. Wish it was 38mm
I feel your pain buddy :D
Sapphire would have been useful....
As always! However I think the shape would not have been as curved with a sapphire and the price would ofc go up..
the clasp is mounted reversed and the leather is made of poor quality!
Yeah, Japanese watches usually have the clasp on the other way. They want to show the "nicer" side to other people, and look at the "uglier" side themselves. That's why, apparently. I don't really like the original strap either, it's too shiny and stiff. Much rather wear it on something else :)
Pretty dial but a cheap movement.
You’re not wrong. But then again, can’t get everything at this price. There’s nothing really in this watch that I feel a 6r movement would make considerably better. Or for me, it wouldn’t be worth an increase in price.
Seiko does the best dials out of anyone including the Swiss!!
That's a bold statement! But they truly make some stunning dials at surprisingly low prices.
