    those joist / truss things, hold your structure together, it probably keeps your walls square, so they don't rack, you should probably get a new joist, and just hang your light from it , it's never a good idea to remove a joist

    I just got nice broken tv from skip to do this...but this way how you done it it's a bit power inefficient. I like DIY perks that other video. When he swap original back light for Led strip and its powered by 12v and takes only few Watts. Have you seen That??? Btw great idea to build it in ceiling. I'm building now motorhome and definetly I will do it simmilar way. Thanks

      I actually did that and light did not look the way its supposed to be. I mean I could clearly see all individual leds. No nice diffused uniform light. So I tossed it away.

    I'm going to do this to one I already modded into a light because it keeps shutting down. I'm going to just remove all of the lighting inside and just use LED strips and a 12 volt power supply.

    These TV backlights color temparature cooler than 6500K led bulbs, I guess they are maybe 8000K or 8500K. I concerned about that backlights maybe harmful and bad for our eyes, but I couldn't find a explanation for that issue.

    I tried this and WOW it worked great! ...for a while. I turned it on with the remote and it lit up as it should, but then a little while later...10 minutes? it turned off and won't restart. I don't think it overheated. Would it shut down because it didn't receive a signal from a tv source? Satellite, cable whatever. Any ideas? Thx

      @Kburt101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really can do it whichever way you want. I too am using the original LEDs because what is the point in buying all new electronics when you already have them? (Power efficiency, I know) So to kick that power-saving mode in the butt you may need to try adding a signal to one of the inputs. This should keep it alive either indefinitely or for about 2 hours depending on the TV model. When I say that you can supply a signal to an input I am sure there are other ways as well. Imagine you hit the volume button every 5 min. Build a simple 555 timer circuit and put it inline with any of the controller buttons and it will simulate you hitting a button regularly to keep it alive.

      I have two converted TVs (tv into light panel) both turn off after 10 to 15 minutes. Does ANYONE know why this happens. The only thing removed is the shattered LCD screen. Is this a missing input issue???

    • @StevenWichers
      @StevenWichers 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ralphfuller2606 Yes, many TVs have a no signal auto off feature to save power. There's usually an option in their menu to disable it. If you cannot find a manual that gives you a step-by-step to follow blindly, then you'll need to plug something in with an active signal. They may sell dummy devices that do this.

    Can't you just connect the wires from the leds straight to a power source as my TV has 2 wires a red and white so I should just be able to wire the red to the blue and brown to white and plug it in

  • @jasongoulette1854

    I bet you were so disappointed after you istalled it and everything was working and you were like, "yaye!" Then 15 minutes later it turned off automatically and you gotta keep turning it on all the time. Btw an easy work around that is to have two switches. One to turn it on, then after that another to constantly jump a volume button. That'll keep it on. I make those all the time to veg pot plants. Nice broom and dustpan btw. Its cute.

    • @thecentralscrutinizer5105
      @thecentralscrutinizer5105 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      switches.??...constantly jump a volume button???..how the fook does one make a mechanical momentary tactile switch constantly _"jump"_ another mechanical momentary tactile switch??...sounds like switch sex...but I digress...and I certainly hope you dont service flat panel sets for a living...most idiotic idea i've heard on b00btube to date.
      N/O tactiles are only good for about 500,000 contacts then they're shot. So here's what ya do _Doctor Electro_ , to keep the PS from going low after the factory's pre-set time of no activity, is simply to make the 5v turn on line *stay on* all the time.. the 5vdc stndby trigger is only on for a milisecond when you use the remote or press TV's power on/off button ( & not all idiot boxes are 5vdc either, some are 3.2, some high as 12-14vdc, and sum even 2.3vdc. Simply make that stndby trigger voltage always constant, cuz if your wiring these panels as ceiling lights, the power button is no longer the turn off switch (on/off tactile would be useless then cuz ur now _"Always On"_ 5v is now telling supply to stay the fook on anyways) Now your room or shop's on/off switch by the door is now turning the TV ....errr,... meant, light panel on/off by just killing the rooms 120vac circuit.
      Made a business mass producing...err...recycling b00btubes to b00blight panels. ...and all LED sets are also wired in series, & are usually overdriven at factory by a volt or two so they make sure your buying another TV in 1.5 -2 years, because in theory, LED lights should out last you.. bean counters at the corporate whore TV manufacturers can't have that now... so if ya know how to re-wire them into a parallel circuit, you can reduce your voltage requirements while maintaining the same level of brightness, or if ur adding LED's into the existing ones. (only when making it into a light panel) The supply voltage math is simple when in series, a normal LED in set needs 2.8 - 3.2 volts each to be efficient so if theres say 10 LEDs in ur crappy 32" Funai HiSense,supply voltage will be 28 to 32 vdc
      *(Helpful household hint to add years to a flat panel LED TV:* just turn down the backlight setting in ur initial setup a notch or two..Ta-Da! you've just instantly added another 3-5-7, sometimes,even 10 years to that sets life
      (...unless ur a pissed off Cleveland Browns fan w/ a propensity to chuck Miller High Life bottles at screen)
      Here's a trick to figure out... My customers love these (so do I = more $Cha-Ching$) simply utilize the TV sets internal audio amp & speakers along with the wi-fi/bluetooth or even the analog inputs & then blue tooth ur gov't tracking device streaming app...errr.. meant ur _Smaht-Fone_ to stream the audio to the converted ceiling light panel... (drives ppl nutz), then utilize the TV's OG remote's, now rendered useless, Channel up +Channel down buttons...
      _Wit...Wha?.."hUh??? but it's a light now C.S"_
      _"Well Duhhh Dickoff..."_
      You'll use them to no longer change channels silly man.....but to... (wait for it...)
      ... _DIM OR BRIGHTEN the LED's...._
      _"WoW Gilligan! that's amazing, So now how much would you Pay???"_
      ...But wait, don't answer that yet...because there's even fuggin more... the remote's Up + Down Volume buttons can be used for raising/lowering the audio lvls...
      or use ur _smaht-fones_ volume controls as well...
      So theres some more brain storming ideas for you Professor or anyone else
      ....So make a Number 2 or so.....errr....wait.. how's that go again?.. oh yeah, _"Make it so Number 1"_
      ( holy fak, seems I've written a small book here,... gotta go)

    You should remove the LED strips and power boards from the TV. Use normal led strips that run off 12v power. You'll save more electricity. Also, the default light board setup is normally "energy efficient" with a photo sensor for dimming the light in the dark. Then there is "sleep mode", where many tvs turn off after a few hours of no input. Plus, you can get remote control LEDs with dimmable and color changing or light temperature settings.

    at 14:47, you can hear a creaking sound and at 15:00 turn your volume down as the entire house crashes in. LOL Just kidding, but don't modify your house structure without knowing what is essential. Use the internet...there's a lot of information out here that can tell you the right way to modify your ceiling joists.
