great footage and sound! This tv show video has GOT to be released on DVD!! This was KJ with Paul (R.I.P.) on bass, I reckon shortly after Jaz returned from his exile in Iceland the year before. Thanks for the share. Honour the fire.
i was at this gig Brixton Ace, Cocteau Twins supported only £3 to get in this was a great tv series had some brilliant gigs inc ANWL / the Damned / the Meteors etc etc
I'm no purist. I enjoy anything so long as it's inspired and has integrity. Even the best post punk bands of today seem tepid and weak compared to the early/mid eighties.
ALL top 40's/heavy rotation radio music today is literally worthless garbage. Back then at least there was Bowie, Talking Heads, Queen, etc cracking the top 10. It kind of died with nirvana, if you disagree, listen to bruno mars or niki minaj and tell me otherwise.
I just love Big Paul's tribal drumming on the Joke's earlier stuff especially "Unspeakable" and "Empire Song" which was the song that really grabbed my attention! Truly primitive!
LardGargantuus : There can't be post-punk bands today. They'd be like "nu post punk" or something, but the original wave of post-punk was over by 82-83.
Oh, to be young again... How I wish I had seen them back in the early 80s. I bought the records, but don't know if they ever toured the US in those days. "What's This For" and "Killing Joke" were the first two CDs I bought once it became clear that the CD format was going to replace vinyl.
Killing Joke did actually tour the US around "What's This For" I saw footage of a Philly show from around 1981 recently. It was Brilliant (no pun intended haha ; )
i remember watching psyche/the pandys are coming on this tv program i think the same gig on BBC2 that first got me into KJ, since then i've seen them about 20 times live
i swear geordie is the most graceful guitarist ever, he's playing some jarring dissonant riff and barely breaking a sweat
RIP Geordie. Probably the coolest guitarist I ever saw grace a stage
I met him and actually played his guitar, he was such a lovely bloke, so kind and funny.
R.I.P. Geordie lad...far too soon. Legend!

I cannot articulate how fucking brilliant this is.

Che spettacolo di video hai pubblicato!!! Grazie
A circle closes - honour the fire.
A fantastic clip from you yet again, Travis. Thank you.
Unique, captivating, powerful.
My world wouldn't the same without Killing Joke!
Music was so much cooler in the 80's. Killing Joke, Birthday Party, Joy Division, Gun Club, Swans, the Cramps. Best shit ever.
LardGargantuus The Cramps! Now there's a band for all you rock n roll purists out there! Rock n roll with a twist!

По-моему, басовая партия в песне " We have joy" заслуживает особого внимания👍Просто огнище🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Top notch as always , thanks for posting 👍
Wardance sounds better live, I think..
This is how I remember the Joke at the Cardiff Top Rank around this time.
At 5:44 . . . When you realise that Heaven 17 must have played Yesterday...
Bit late for a reply, but after looking.... i had to laugh 👍
