Those tiny wires and plastic plugs will melt when pulling 50 Amps through it. I bought another version of this with in-built shunt and it's more efficiency than this. To pulling 50A you should need at least 12-16 AWG wires.

I read a warning of the shunt that must be powered up first before measuring or else the module can be damaged. How true is that?
The shunt will give the signal to meter in milli volts only, so that volt may not affect meter

I dont think it would damage the module, it will just give a false reading in the ammeter when its not connected.
