- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Congress during his first known trip outside of Ukraine since Russia invaded about 10 months ago. He delivered his remarks in English, where he thanked the U.S. for its help in the fight against Russia, and for "all those who value freedom and justice."

As a Brit, I know what America has done for us. You helped save our country, our values, our way of life, our culture. You not only did it for that generation in the 1940s, you did it for my grandparents, and my parents, and now me. We and millions of others have lived full lives of freedom in the UK because of the genorosity, good will, blood, money and bravery of ordinary Americans.
I know the politics is divisive right now. I know you can't help the entire world. I know you have your own issues to fix.

I live in a country where Russian terror dominated the last century. We were one of the first, with other east European countries, to help our Ukrainian brothers at the beginning of the war. I am happy that now the whole free world is helping Ukraine in the fight for their freedom, against Russian terror. For us it is only about money, for the Ukrainians it is about defending their lives.
Same feelings of brotherhood from Poland too. But it's not only money, it's sharing places, schools, having public messages in Ukrainian but most of all love, empathy, deep understanding and unconditional support.

You have to understand that the weapons that was sent to Ukraine were the same weapons that the United States Military was preparing for the Soviet Union from the Era of 60's, 70's and 80's but we The United States Military didn't have the chance to use those weapons on the soviets because the Soviet Union went broke and fell. So now the Ukrainian Army Is Using Them Against the Russians 💯

Yeah, another fun fact is that Russians are using the Ukrainian weapons that we gave up after we’d signed the Budapest memorandum. The Americans were the ones who oversaw the process. Back then we also had to destroy our missiles and jets, again under the American supervision. Then we had a few proRussian presidents who paid for gas with missiles that are now shelling our cities. I’m not blaming anyone except for us, actually. I just believe that we should’ve fought for our right to defend ourselves right after 1991 because Russia was doomed to be a threat for us. I was a 5 year-old back then. And I’m a refugee in 2022. Will push for Ukraine having a strong army for the rest of my life.
Not at all true and a huge misconception. We have been sending modern equipment. Javelins, NLAWS, Patriot missile systems, and HIMARS AND M777. Sure they have been given a bunch of old equipment too but a lot of it is brand new weapons.

Hard to call the citizens or Ukraine free. Their government was installed via a violent coup in 2014. They are the second most corrupt country in Europe, right behind Russia. And shortly after taking power, Zelensky jailed journalists and media producers who did not cover his campaign "fairly." The regime then led a war against ethnic minorities in the country, mostly in the east, an according to the UN approximately 20k were killed. That is why Russia stepped in.

@@Adnancorner Should note though, his English has improved incredibly since the start of the war. Also his first language is Russian and from what I've heard from Ukrainians, his speeches in Ukrainian are alright but his speeches in Russian are extremely well done.
And what makes it even more impressive is the fact he is giving this speech in a foreign land, in a foreign (to him) language. As far as I know, english isnt his first language, he does speak it, but still, to get up in front of MILLIONS and speak in english, when we would have provided a translator, had he insisted, thats impressive.

RIGHT now, Ukraine needs Patriot missiles to prevent Russia - which is aided by Iran by means of drones - from destroying the infrastructure of Ukraine particularly the electrical grids. Let us continue to provide Ukraine with the economic aid and military packages that it needs because not to do so will be to the huge peril of the world now and for years to come.

As an American I completely support Ukraine. It pains me to see so many of my fellow Republicans sounding like the isolationist from the 1930's. Many of them say Ukraine should give Russia territory for peace. To them I ask this: if we were invaded, would we give away chunks of America for peace? No. We would fight them until everyone of them was pushed off our land. Why should we expect the Ukrainians to do any less?
