@@411Outdoors brother thank you for the inspiration to do it! Seriously I have had something like this formulating in my mind but then after watching your video it all came together so I appreciate you very much
I recently bought a self defense umbrella for my sister and she absolutely loves it. She can't carry a gun and she probably won't carry a knife. She can take that umbrella even to non-permissive areas and nobody is going to question that. It's pretty much unbreakable, comes with a glass breaker and is probably going to last forever if just used as an umbrella.
Good stuff, first off, hats off to ya bud, it takes a real honest man and a grounded one to admit his flaws. You didnt have to but you still put it out there and your reasoning. I applaude that and really respect it. I 100 percent agree, guns are great but you definitely need to be in the right mindset and know your limits, along with capabilities if youre going to carry one. A calm demeanor and being aware of your surroundings are two big factors in my opinion. I do carry firearms most days, and practice with them almost weekly, but i also do carry blades. Knives are just like firearms to me, theyre tools. And like you said if you know how to use them, you dont need a heck of a lot. I typically carry a defensive blade every day and a jack knife, basically a beater blade for every thing else. Preciate what you do man, sorry for such a long winded response, but god bless from ole Carolina.
Love the video. Good to see level headed, honest, and common sense kind of stuff to approach this topic with. Some worthwhile mentions - the CS trench/spetznaz shovel, as its already a useful tool just to keep in the vehicle anyway. Also those tire knockers all the old timers keep in their trucks and/or a good old fashioned Mag-Lite.
I always carry at least three knives-a heavy-duty folder, a slip joint, and a pocket fixed blade. In my state, you can carry a gun, but using it for self-defense is another story. Even if you’re robbed in the middle of the night at home, you can’t use a gun to protect your belongings. The threat must be direct to you or your family, and you have to match force with force-meaning you’d basically have to be shot or stabbed first to justify using a firearm. The only item I’ve found legal to carry in all states, cities, airports, and even courtrooms is a wood cane. My preference is a solid hickory J-top cane. It’s not classified as a deadly weapon like a gun or knife, yet it’s incredibly effective for self-defense. A good hickory cane can break bones and deter almost anyone while remaining non-lethal-unless you target the head. I’ve carried one for years, and no one has ever questioned it, even in the most Democratic blue states that are extremely tough on self-defense, as well as in government buildings, airports, or courtrooms. But like you said a gun would be the first and best option for self defense . Scab hope you have a wonderful week 👍🏻👍🏻

I know you don't have a job where you travel overseas but like I said we think alike but I forget things and you might have some ideas
I'd like to carry a fixed blade. But where I live you can't conceal one and I don't want anyone knowing what I have. I like a Demko with a shark lock. Easy and quick to deploy. With other folders I don't feel confident on being able to deploy the blade under stress.
Dan at 411 is awesome he dont mess around but stays funny oh ya man sticks are great BUT here they frown on sticks too sharpend keys on a long lanyard get hit with them they dont come back for more
First of all, mad respect for having the wherewithal to put away the firearm before it lead you to loose your freedom, most altercations can be avoided/resolved without going hands on and or lethal but one thing I hate to add to this is the fact that an aggressor is quick to play victim once they get their ass whooped so be very careful how you fend off an attacker and I suggest not leaving anybody to stand up against in court otherwise things can get flipped on you fast! Also the jackalope is a great choice being long and thin enough to get between rib bones to those vitals....
I carry a small knife that has a ring on the end and a scalpel sized blade on the end. It's clipped on my belt and easier to get than my Spyderco I carry.
I don't carry but always like to have around a sjambok. Nonlethal but very effective and not tough to learn to use. Nothing else that i would want have to face down 3 or more at a time.
Cold steel Black Bear Bowie Machete is my edc, yes I carry it everywhere, yes I’ve been in lots of fights. I’m surprised how few people notice and fewer care if they do, I’ve even hung out with sherrifs having a machete on my back. My story is crazier than batshite,,,
I carry handgun and 2 knives. Any place that I can’t carry. I carry a cane. I’m old enough tofake a cane. Got a bad knee too. Lighter makes a good fist pack as well.
My experience is that if they’re brandishing a knife, they are trying to scare you off …. If they are unnaturally confident or “creepishlly” furtive … there’s a problem!!!!! and survival dispatch once mentioned about lock and handkerchief (lock in a sock) …. I got into knives because if you slip and fall especially with an animal attack, it’s obviously better than nunchucks or any blunt force improvisation
@ and I appreciate your support of veterans. I did a stent in the Marine Corps and army National Guard. Hate to hear that my fellow veterans are struggling!!
Many of us who should have guns are prohibited, many who shouldn’t either have them or are put into positions of power. Sometimes I hate my own country for that reason And btw I’m a vet.
I carry a pistol front appendix and a fixed blade currently the VGK Hawk. I’ve trained pistol in the military, several CCW courses and regularly shoot. But I still feel naked without a fixed blade to accompany me as well. Like you said a lot of altercations are point blank, and at that point a knife is just as deadly. Another note why I include the blade is bc you may be in a “no shoot” scenario. Last thing you want to do is pop rounds off in a crowded area. All of these are tools and has their place
good job scab, I am a old man that caries a metal cane with a jagged dirty rusted sharp bottom that I carry everywhere I go. I may not win the fight but the person that attacked me will end up in the hospital with a very bad infection for sure. semper fi.
Much like yourself it'd be whatever's on me. Not one for fighting but I can be defensive. If I were to be duelling like Bowie on the Sandbar I guess I'd want the Little Evil. Heads might roll.
I always have a knife, and im realy good with paracord, so I made a monkeyfist, that realy gives out some sweet Dreams. With a steel ball of circa 3cm.
Its very self-conscious and honest to openly admit that you dont have the temper to carry a firearm. 👏 But a knife is just as deadly. Why dont you consider pepper spray?
Daggers push dagger the purpose for those fuckin things is for the take down however any knife can be used for fighting but it just depends on you skill set & experience real life altercations with a knife is swashbuckling forget about shit you see in the movies because when a knife gets thrown in the mix somebody is gonna get fucked up one way or the other then if your have a clean background all that shit will come into affect in self defense & use of deadly force when you apply stand your ground & if it comes down to if you gotta throw hands rule of thumb is try to get out of the fight as fast as you got into it you have 2 fist & you also have 2 feet to walk away the 80% of the time it’s all preventable the other 20 % is because of stupidity anyways I only carry knives as a tool & as a last resort if someone is set on causing bodily harm with a knife then you gotta do what you gotta do.. that’s some real shit that the outdoors was preaching the choir

13:09 that's a sawd off Shillelagh.

Dan at 411 is awesome he dont mess around but stays funny oh ya man sticks are great BUT here they frown on sticks too sharpend keys on a long lanyard get hit with them they dont come back for more
Yeah I love his channel brother! Keys on a lanyard would be wicked
I do the same thing on my keyring brother
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors that's all you need to make someone get off of you and get away from you.
Funny thing is a butter knife will illicit a pain response faster than a sharp knife which often isn't even felt initially.
Interesting point
I don't carry but always like to have around a sjambok.
Nonlethal but very effective and not tough to learn to use.
Nothing else that i would want have to face down 3 or more at a time.
I live in the uk 🇬🇧 ,I can't carry anything to defend myself. The law is terrible like that here! 😢
I have been keeping up with it man that is a ridiculous thing for sure
Cold steel Black Bear Bowie Machete is my edc, yes I carry it everywhere, yes I’ve been in lots of fights. I’m surprised how few people notice and fewer care if they do, I’ve even hung out with sherrifs having a machete on my back. My story is crazier than batshite,,,
Yeah, not discussing this. Great video Scab.
Thank you my brother 🙏

I carry handgun and 2 knives. Any place that I can’t carry. I carry a cane. I’m old enough tofake a cane. Got a bad knee too. Lighter makes a good fist pack as well.
Very well thought out carry my friend!

I've considered tactical gloves with like Kevlar or kydex knuckles or whatever for jogging runs
.... also a tactical flashlight to blind em
Great video brother!
Thank you my brother 🙏🙏
I almost always carry a staff too.
Great video Scab! 😊

@@Kennerd007 that is a phenomenal point and one that is often overlooked. And I believe that's where the maturity level has to step in
good job scab, I am a old man that caries a metal cane with a jagged dirty rusted sharp bottom that I carry everywhere I go.
Dude the monkey fist is a great idea and a wicked weapon
A sock with a couple rolls of quarters will do you good. Just don’t swing it too hard.
An Ink Pen.
Its very self-conscious and honest to openly admit that you dont have the temper to carry a firearm. 👏 But a knife is just as deadly. Why dont you consider pepper spray?
And dont let anyone seemingly hostel walk up on you, keep them at a distance with a warning first
Daggers push dagger the purpose for those fuckin things is for the take down however any knife can be used for fighting but it just depends on you skill set & experience real life altercations with a knife is swashbuckling forget about shit you see in the movies because when a knife gets thrown in the mix somebody is gonna get fucked up one way or the other then if your have a clean background all that shit will come into affect in self defense & use of deadly force when you apply stand your ground & if it comes down to if you gotta throw hands rule of thumb is try to get out of the fight as fast as you got into it you have 2 fist & you also have 2 feet to walk away the 80% of the time it’s all preventable the other 20 % is because of stupidity anyways I only carry knives as a tool & as a last resort if someone is set on causing bodily harm with a knife then you gotta do what you gotta do.. that’s some real shit that the outdoors was preaching the choir
I carry my kabar jarosz camp turok daily 24/
7/365!!!
Nice!!!
yeah knuckles are a bad idea. they get mad and shows intent. might as well carry a framing hammer. works better and get you in less trouble hahaha
Those overalls are definitely very dangerous.
Karambit hawkbill is the worst self-defense knife in existence. Inside of 21 feet, the knife is faster than a holstered gun
Agreed 💯 Percent on both points!
I like the stick for dogs instead of using a knife or gun off the drop. Give everyone ans everything a chance
