Hey Paul, nice and factual review (same as for the Osmo or the DJI mic ones), and interesting channel, congrats. It shows you have nothing to sell other than your honest and profesional opinion, a change comparing to too many here biased in their reviews by sponsorships of all kind. Thanks for that. Anyway, as a future buyer of the X4, I have a question regarding the flare you're mentioning: was it with or without the lens guards? I was wondering if these mitigate or worsen that flare. Any advice to work around this? Cheers.
Thank you, I like to think I’m ‘no BS’ and it’s good to hear it comes across. But like with everything, we all have different opinions. But as for the lens glare, it was with the standard built in lenses. I did buy the guards - used them once and the sun glare was poor. I think it is a compromise for the camera type. But with all lenses, sun glare is inevitable in the right conditions but more so with 360 camera lenses. I can’t say I’ve found a fix - but I’m always open to suggestions!
Hey man, great video. I think you've covered a lot of the important aspects and your video is really well polished too. I think these action cams are getting pretty wild; they pack so many features into them and now the internal processing and software features are starting to really make a difference for people like me that don't know a lot about photography/videography. I have the action 4 now and I'm quite happy with it, but comparing all of these newer cameras to my older Sony x3000 there are some huge leaps in everything... Waterproof without a case, the stabilization software is amazing, mounting and accessories are stellar... I think lowlight performance is one thing that everyone is still waiting to see that huge jump. I'm glad there's a few companies all warring with eachother and pushing the tech forward.
Thank you so much for the feedback. I’ll always try to create value for anyone who watches. The least I can do is aim for the highest quality possible. So I hope that shows. You’re right, for cameras so small we a seeing plenty of features these days. And I’m sure over time the lowlight will get better in future releases 👍 no camera is perfect, eh? But it doesn’t stop the pursuit of perfection 😂 thanks again for watching, I appreciate it!
I've never seen anybody use these cameras extremely practically It's usually for novelty shots or quick action stuff, You would think this would be a situation where people would buy two of these and use them as multiple camera angles I've actually never seen anybody do this idea with these cameras since you can do different camera angles and post
For my line of work I’d probably only use them as BTS type cameras, but I’m sure as you say you can hook these up for different angles. But like you, I’m not a fan of the novelty shots!
Some of us are, I have an X4 and as a business I use it in all cases, certainly for real estate (not sure why anyone would use 2D imaging anymore), destination travel, mapping, sports, POV etc. . Even with lower resolution being fully 100% immersed in a space or area is waaaaay more impactful than any 2D image with better resolution telling only a fraction of the story. As ease and resolution improves (and costs lower ie: Titan, Obsidian, Meta) these 360 cameras, will replace (like the 8 track) 2D images soon. I have an X3 as well, might try the 2 camera shoot some time. Thx
