Next time open up both ends completely. Then remove the lid from one end. Flip it upside down and use the lid. On the other end to push it out. I do this all the time with my tomato paste works like a charm

Show the recipe. The store bought can bread is not the same as home bake. To get it out of the can open up both ends.

Love this, I've been making breads in jars since I was 5 years old, we still do and I'm 61- Not Rebel canning- just normal in our neck of the woods!
I don't use shortning- we us Lard, Real Butter our Tallow... while we've had a couple jars on the shelves for 2-5 years and they were great! We've rarely had any last more than about 6-7 months...
    Blessings ❤ Keep sharing!

That's cool. Lard or Tallow is better for you anyways than shortening...Im amazed there are homesteaders or home canners still using shortening...that stuff is very bad.

What kind of non-stick product do you use on the jars when you make yours? Spray, Crisco, another type of nonstick product?

Put a ring on the jar before spraying or filling, then you can wash it while they bake..and nothing on the rim 😊

😂it's from New England Maine. I really didn't like it..though people eat it with baked beans poured on over the top .
It has alot of molasses in it and I personally don't like it.
Toasted with butter is ok, but it's not worth 9.00

@@soyoucametosee7860 Yes, I know. Weck recommends baking and canning in two steps. This means baking bread, sorry. We have rubber bands between lid and jar, and they can cause problems with that method. It's still possible, but I don't like it. Canning in the oven is more than taking jars out and close them immediately after.

I've really enjoyed listening to you, so I subscribed. Even if you have spray for greasing jars, it can still get on the rims, so just have a little bowl of warm water with a splash of vinegar and a paper towel - the rims will be squeaky clean. Your jars came out beautiful! I'm 75, so I don't do a lot of canning anymore, but I'm going to do this - thanks for the great idea!

@@judik8860 most likely not ‘authentic’ but… 1 cup All Bran cereal (the nuggets), 1 cup milk, 1 cup raisins, 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, and 1 cup self raising flour ( or substitute). I googled traditional recipes and they used rye flour, baking soda and molasses so….mix the All Bran and milk and let sit until absorbed then add sugar raisins and flour. Steam or bake. It takes an hour to bake!

I did this once and stored in the refrigerator for a few months.
I now just cook them in jars and pop them out after cooled and freeze them.
So small snacks in the freezer

I do this with ALL my quick breads (banana, zucchini, lemon poppy seed, date & ) they taste as fresh a year later, as they did the day i made them. I'd like to say they last longer than a year, but I never have any left to find out!

Being a senior in our area the government gives us supplemental food boxes each month, they send nuts (walnuts, pecans, pistachios) all the time…. Going to try this.

What would work really well is a homemade pastry bag or if you already have one. ❤ I don’t know about anyone else but I’m making canned bread. 🥰

Fry that up in some butter on each side and top with ice cream

You are correct on the price. It is very hard to find. And I finally found the whole chickens in a can. Also priced at 12 dollars a can. Things are expensive. I am still looking for whole cheddar cheese which I've seen people still say it's really good. Good luck

I made banana bread last year this way. Still have a couple of cans left. Mine was more dense, like the store bought you opened up in the beginning of your video. The taste was amazing though. I need to open one up to see if it's still good. 🤔

You did it right by opening both ends, that's how you do it. It tastes way better toasted. Toast it and top it with butter and see if that helps the tastes some. Also I think the word you were looking for is molasses. It's heavy on the molasses lol. Thanks for the recipe! God bless!
