Fun cook, Ry.!.! Dr Pepper has been my now not-so-secret ingredient in my homemade bbq sauce for a bit. I did a straight-up substitute of the DP with the Baja Blast (Lime) Mt Dew when I had that available and was well accepted by my crowd. It made for a unique lighter colored sauce. My only suggestion would be to reduce the soda 1st, then add all the ingredients and bring back to simmer for at least 10min and NO Diet Soda for the sauce. Like you, I also do it the day before to let all those ingredient get happy. Cheers, from Skokie, IL.!.!
Hi Ry, I made your Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce this weekend and used it on a smoked pulled pork recipe. It turned out great. Thanks for taking the time to make these wonderful videos and I look forward to catching your new ones.
The ribs turned out fantastic Ry! The sauce is right up my alley, sodas do work extremely well for marinades and sauces. Saves this one, definitely going to give it a try! Have a great week!
How do you feel about whiskey barbecue sauces, and would you consider doing a side by side between different cheap whiskeys in homemade barbecue sauces? Specifically between the different types, scotch, Irish, bourbon, etc. I’m thinking the famous grouse port cask finish would make a wonderful barbecue sauce for some chicken.
I'm curious about placement of the water pans just under the stack, won't the moisture/steam just go up and out by convection? Thank you for the video.
With the baffle plate there’s a fair amount of air movement through the chamber. I never found that the water pan placement on that end was less effective. In fact when I placed it close to the firebox side it would boil away quickly 😊
I used to not be a huge fan of ribs until I started watching your channel. Found all my friends and family who made them, were making it wrong! I got to try slow cooking a rack a month back, and they came out sooo much better. Those look so good! I can smell them from here! Oh wait, that's the tri tip I have in the oven downstairs. XD Lol. But also, fun fact, caffeine doesn't cook out when you cook it. Kind of figured it did like alcohol, but nope. I decided to look it up since I'm allergic to caffeine. Welp, guess I'm using caffeine free soda for my next cook! :P
NIce RY ! Love those baby backs ! ... Speaking of soda.. do they carry ' Birch beer ' out your way ? Just thought that might be an interesting flavor profile.... I may just give it a shot. Thank you for yet another entertaining video ! Appreciated !
I don't even like Dr. Pepper but they still look incredible! Great job. Of your grills, which one do you prefer to use in general? Personally, I'm a big fan of an offset and managing the fire on it.
I thought you may have stolen my OKLAHOMA JOES pit but I checked and it’s still there! 😆 Great looking ribs and I will give this a try! I usually follow Johnnie Triggs 3-2-1 method and add some squeeze butter on the wrap as that will help keep them from going dry - Great video! New Subcriber! Thanks! Dougster
Great to see the OK Joe in action again Ry. The DYI soda sauce has ignited an idea. A guest from Denmark loves soda, ribs and games. This will be a great experience to make some sauce and BBQ some ribs. Maybe infect another generation with the BBQ bug. If not there is always salmonella.
Family Said best ribs they evere Eaten i am cheating little becaus i use profesional convention oven but recept is good 💪😉 even taket out Chili and Red flakes becaus we dont like spicy
I have to say I'm a little disappointed after watching this video. You didn't stay in your shirt with BBQ sauce. Shame on you. Excellent cook my friend we're doing it this weekend but we are going to use Cherry Dr Pepper.
Instead of using ketchup and molassis to make the BBQ flavor.... why not just go get some Sweet N Spicy BBQ sauce and add Dr Pepper ? Personally I would also add fresh garlic, herbs, paprika, black pepper and brown sugar. But I would NEVER use ketchup.
I can't wait to make these. I can smell how good those ribs are. You just invented smellevision😁
Va multumesc pentru ajutorul domneavoastra prieten eu sunt din Rumania 🇷🇴
3 things I love, baby backs, dr pepper and using the Oklahoma joe. Thanks alot!!

Wow! Really delicious looking ribs. I love dr. pepper and cheerwine so really looking forward to trying this recipe. 👍
I have a buddy who is a huge pepper fan. He’s getting a share of this video. Thx Ry! Polished as always.
I've tried many of your recipes and everything has turned out fantastic. Brisket, meatloaf, chickens, pork butt. Gonna do this one on Thursday.
I hope you enjoy it :)
Hi Ry, I made your Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce this weekend and used it on a smoked pulled pork recipe. It turned out great. Thanks for taking the time to make these wonderful videos and I look forward to catching your new ones.
Pulled Pork is a great idea for that sauce :)
I just made the sauce and these ribs today. It was a big hit at dinner. I really enjoy your videos, thank you for putting out great content.
Thanks! I'm glad the ribs were enjoyed :)
Great cook and I like the soothing music!
What a good looking set of ribs

Fantastic! Glad they turned out good for you :)
Awesome looking ribs Ry. I'm a big fan of Dr. Pepper. Definitely going to give this sauce a go. Have a good one. Cheers
Thanks, CJ!
The ribs turned out fantastic Ry! The sauce is right up my alley, sodas do work extremely well for marinades and sauces. Saves this one, definitely going to give it a try! Have a great week!
Thanks! Yeah I love using sodas to get that individual flavor in the sauce :)
We have used Dr Pepper to cook a roast beef in a slow cooker. Very good.
Get in my belly! Great job as always, Ry!
10, 2 and 4, it's always time for Dr. Pepper. Great cook, Ry!
Thanks!
You are amazing sir! I love your show.
Love the Dr pepper sauce. Been eating it here in Arkansas since the 80s.
Really? That’s cool!
HOWDY Ry those ribs look fantastic I'll have to try that Dr. Pepper cola Bbq sauce never tried it before thank for sharing.

Specifically between the different types, scotch, Irish, bourbon, etc. I’m thinking the famous grouse port cask finish would make a wonderful barbecue sauce for some chicken.
I’ve made whiskey bbq sauce before. Very good. But that comparison really isn’t something I’d likely do :)
Cooking With Ry do you happen to remember which whiskey you used?
@@juliankirby9880 Jack Daniels, I believe.
Nice video. I usually 3-2 my Babybacks untill they reach 185 internal temp.
Ry, your ribs look delicious. I gotta try that sauce. I just did ribs… now you’ve got me already hungry for them again!
I like the music in these vids it’s very soothing. The other bbq vids that use the real aggressive History Channel type of music is not for me
Beautiful Dr. Pepper Ribs. I like the looks of that sauce.
Thanks, Phil :)
My favorite pop on my favorite cooking channel, that one I gonna try to the letter
Awesome!
I've tried a dr pepper sauce before and it actually does have a great flavor. The color is also great from the sauce. They look awesome bro!
Thanks!
Those ribs really came out perfect RY! Delicious great video!
Thanks!
i'll have to try this this weekend.

@@CookingWithRy thank you for your reply.
Those look amazing
Would you say d pepper is forward or heavy in the flavor profile or mild or balanced.
Fairly mild.

Interesting about caffeine. Never even thought about that :)

I'll have to check that out. Haven't seen that before :)
Great video sir! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks!
Going with the soft drink theme, if you can find it, I'd love to see if you can come up with a sauce based on Sundrop. It might be best on chicken.
I think I've seen Sundrop at a specialty market near here. I'll have to check it out :)
Man those looked awesome!!
I don't even like Dr. Pepper but they still look incredible! Great job.
Of your grills, which one do you prefer to use in general? Personally, I'm a big fan of an offset and managing the fire on it.
My favorite is the Weber Kettle. So easy to do almost anything on it :)
I'm very tempted to get one seeing how versatile they are in your videos.
This sauce tastes amazing Ry!!! By chance, any idea how long it keeps in the fridge?
I usually don't keep it more than a week, though it's gone in five days most times :)
LOOK AMAZING!!
I thought you may have stolen my OKLAHOMA JOES pit but I checked and it’s still there! 😆 Great looking ribs and I will give this a try! Cheerwine ribs for me! Those look just incredible Ry. Great video. I enjoy watching you cook.
Haha RY.. That taste pretty good actually. I will give it a try. That is the only soda I drink anyway.
Those ribs looks really good. Cheers, Ry!
Thanks!
LOL. Yeah go for the non infecting sauce :)
Any idea how long you could store the sauce in the refrigerator
I've kept mine for 2 weeks before it's gone, so 2 weeks is all I'm sure of :)
Hey Ry, quick question. I want to make these over the weekend but my wife isn't crazy about heat. On a scale from 1-10 how spicy were they?
2 :)
I think it would be too sweet for me, but I'd happily try! Great cook. Have you seen chocolate chili ribs? Few recipes out there, one of my favorites
You mean like these: th-cam.com/video/Ro8TrC8wS5Q/w-d-xo.html :)
Those look good! I've done wet marinade with adobo sauce, peppers, cilantro, few others, but I like look of that too. Thanks for pointing me to those
How long will the sauce last once it's jarred and refrigerated?
I usually use it within 2 weeks.
@@CookingWithRy thank you! :)
I wish there was a way to sample the sauce virtually.
Have you ever done a cola bbq sauce?
I have. Very good :)
Excelente Ry! Soy tu fan desde México
Thank you!
You're the Bob Ross of Meat.
Excellent video again Ry! I have made the Coca Cola version of this sauce, going to give the Dr. Pepper a try soon!
Love the Coca Cola sauce :)
Could these be done on a kettle, I don't have a smoker
Sure. Just indirect cook them. I smoke ribs on the kettle all the time :)
Looks good
Great video!
Can you smoke ribs with mesquite lumps?
You can use your favorite wood )
Beautiful ribs Ry!
Thanks, James! Yours are the gold standard, my friend :)
Ry, could this be done with Coke too?
Sure can. Regular not diet :)
Cooking With Ry thank you!!
Nice hat.
Holy SUGAR in that sauce, Ry!
It's a sweet one :)
SEVEN ounces of molasses on top of ketchup and Dr. Pepper... a rare treat, not every day.
Can you used dr pepper zero in the sauce
I’ve never tried that, but I imagine it would work.
Thanks for taking my question
Family Said best ribs they evere Eaten i am cheating little becaus i use profesional convention oven but recept is good 💪😉 even taket out Chili and Red flakes becaus we dont like spicy
Happy ribs!
5:27 for the recipe for the sauce
nice
Sometimes the bull wins. ;-)
I have to say I'm a little disappointed after watching this video. You didn't stay in your shirt with BBQ sauce. Shame on you. Excellent cook my friend we're doing it this weekend but we are going to use Cherry Dr Pepper.
I never even though of using the cherry DP. Great idea :)
Ooh cherry dr pepper bbq sauce sounds AMAZING
Instead of using ketchup and molassis to make the BBQ flavor.... why not just go get some Sweet N Spicy BBQ sauce and add Dr Pepper ? Personally I would also add fresh garlic, herbs, paprika, black pepper and brown sugar. But I would NEVER use ketchup.
Ketchup is a very common base to make barbecue sauce from.
Baby back ribs are not as good as spare ribs to me. They just do not have the taste I like.
You can certainly use spares instead :)
Please make your own rubs. It would look more professional
Great channel besides that
You might want to watch more videos of mine. I make my own rubs 75% of the time. Great comment besides that.
He has awesome rubs of his own! :) Great on babyback ribs and chicken, pork tenderloin... I can't wait to make this sauce.
You need to watch his video with the bacon, brown sugar and pepper rub for ribs. It's simple but life changing.

Honestly, relaxing and looks great, Ry.
