    2013 Torque Converter shudder victim but Auto Zone sells a product in a red tube that stops it immediately and so far permanently. Put it in over 5000 miles ago. Also added 1 pt of transmission fluid while I was at it. We have over 220,000 miles on it and it’s driven to Marietta GA. and Pidgeon Forge TN. regularly. So far so good.

    Thank you so much. My wife's RAV4 has been shaking/vibrating.
    It sounds like we need to replace the torque converter. I never would have known that without watching your video.
    Thank you so much!

      There is an ECU/PCM software update that needs to be done as well. The main problem was the software not providing the correct fluid pressure to the Torque Converter

      You are correct... also some of the vibrations could be due to the normal wear and tear that affect the engine mounts on ALL cars...

    Thank you. Torque converter is most likely my issue! Transmission sputters when I hit gas lightly.

      That shutter that feels like you are running over a rough road is the torque convertor and Toyota had an extended warranty issued but it ran out for most so now we are stuck with broken cars. Cheapest way out is to find a real trusted mechanic and have them replace the Torque convertor and put in the magnets in the transmission pan and then bring it to Toyota for only the software update. Look up ZH1 or U760e Torque Converter Shutter and you will find the bulletin from Toyota. Also unfortunately if it is a bad shutter it could ruin the transmission because the front shaft coming out of the front of the transmission goes through a hole in the middle of the Torque Converter.

      How to convince the dealer about torque converter issue? The technician did test drive and said no issue found. Also the extended warranty says not all cars have this issue

    Thank you for this info!!! My 2013 has the Bluetooth connection issues & the shaking/vibrating when driving.... I have already hit more than 100K miles . Other than that, I love my Rav4

    Main culprit is fuel.effiiciency not as good as i expected. Getting around 10-11litres/100kms around city driving. I was expecting around litres/100kms

    Good luck with the Torque Converter Shutter as the extended warranty ran out. Look up Rav 4 Torque Converter Shutter ZH1 or U760e Toyota bulletin and it tells you all about it.

    Paid off, 2016 se sport 146000 miles had 10miles when we got it, no mechanical issues since we bought it. Just regular maintenance, it has been very reliable. But i did just notice the paint pealing on the roof right by the windshield, I thought it might have been a rock chip that started it. But after this video it means it is a paint issue. Time to get some touch up paint from Toyota. SMH

    Mines burning a lot of oil, any recommendations why! It's a 2013

    • @patrickbateman7334
      @patrickbateman7334 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2013 rav4 owner here, check your spark plugs and spark plug tubes to see if any oil is leaking inside from a defective vlave cover gasket. Also, run a oil consumption test to see how much oil you are burning/consuming. Also try to run a seafoam HIGH MILEAGE treatment in your oil to see if that helps reduce oil burn/consumption. - Toyota Tech

    • @Plumbtired
      @Plumbtired 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had the same oil consumption problem. My mechanic said these cars all do this as they get higher mileage. He recommended I use 5W 30 synthetic motor oil high mileage. So I did that ran it for about 1000 miles it has helped tremendously. This RAV4 is a 2013. It has well over 200,000 miles on it. I would drive it anywhere.

    • @TheSilentStryke
      @TheSilentStryke 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The rav4 will drink lots of oil if it hasnt been serviced often enough. These Ar series engine cant go any longer than 8000kms or 5000 miles between oil changes contrary to what the manual says. Great engine otherwise.

    Which year RAV 4 has the least problems? You really seem to know what you're talking about I'm looking for a reliable SUV for my daughter who has disabilities that I can pick up between 12 to $20,000. I wanted the Honda CRV but that isn't an option with her because of the large dash there's no room for pedal extensions

    I bought my 2015 rav4 LE brand new and it’s averaging 22.8 to 23 mpg highway mileage. I’m getting a readingBetween 860- 875 rpm at normal temperature according to obd2 scanner , no engine light. Manual said I should getting 25 mpg on highway. I maintained oil change every 5000k mile synthetic ow-20 oil. Is there any idle adjustment to bring it down to 750 rpm at normal temperature. Thanks

    • @human1513
      @human1513 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No body gets the fuel mileage the manual suugests for any vehicle. If it states 25 and you get 23 it is normal & good.
      Have you some Mass Airflow Sensor spray cleaner to clean the Mass Airflow sensor located in the air intake? There are many TH-cam videos about what to use & how to do it. This can affect the idle speed,....
      It is very easy to do.
      Also check that the air filter is clean.
