Nice video, and quite refreshing. I am a little older than yourself and was coming up to 20 stone, after trying many diets over the last 8 years. This worked for me this time last year. Cut out ALL sugar, in foods/drinks etc. Cut out ALL carbs. And only had one meal on a evening, hard for the first 2-3 weeks, but i stuck with it and lost 4 stone in the first 5 months, and now at 14 stone a year later. Still have the odd treat now and then, but generally stuck with the one meal on a evening, because i no longer feel like anything during the day. And what motivated me was i honestly felt so much better and more energy in general after the first 6 weeks. It worked for me, maybe not for everyone though.
DIET TIPS: avoid the dreaded alcohol, reduce your carbohydrate intake, a maximum of 100g if you do eat carbs, use a free diet app, put your details in, and stick to it! I found eating wraps and kebabs with salad very helpful. Have smaller meals, you'll get use to them. I lost nearly four stone in four and a half months in 2018, the first three days were the worst, and I've managed to keep the weight off by eating sensibly. If I do over eat, I eat less the following day.
Fasciitis is a real pain - physically and psychologically! I find bike riding is the only time I can really forget about it. Get yourself a ratty old trail bike and get out in any weather, never fails to lift my mood. I'm with you on KTM, did 5K on my '18 Duke 790 over the summer including a big European tour and it didn't miss a beat. Keep up the exercises for the fasciitis - who knows, they might work, I'm living in hope!
Totally agree, worst time of year but in a Months time the days start to get longer again, managing to ride on the dry days too and it definitely helps the mind-set. Cheers Choppsy
52 ! Blimey, you’re just a youngster, I’ve got 22 years on you and I’m still having fun on my MT 03. Age is just a number, it’s all in the mind. I just can’t manage big bikes anymore. Keep yer chin up, aches and pains may come and go but you’ll survive if you keep positive.
Great video. I'm 58, just diagnosed with arthritis in my hip, too much motorcycling & skiing, so I feel your pain (literally).Keep smiling over winter 👍
Everyone will be different. I’ve had fasciitis very badly a couple of times. The first (2004) time took nearly a year and a load of physio and arches made specifically for me by the nhs. It might not work for you but after it calmed down I found that if I bought shoes half a size up(or a size depending on brand) and inserted some off the shelf arches from scholl I have been perfectly ok apart from one short spell a few years ago when I didn’t move for six weeks due to shingles. The inactivity followed by going back to work brought it on. I still wear the arches in all my shoes except New Balance trainers. They just ‘work’ for me. I feel your pain (have done literally) and I’m no doctor but I have tried literally everything and ultimately for me the arches were the only cure. Good luck and hope it leaves you soon.
Planter fasciitis I had it absolute killer can’t walk when you wake up I found a compression foot support cured mine after about a month wearing all day taken off at night
In 2021 I bought a brand new 701, all because of your review and the build series. My wallet was a lot lighter but man is it so much fun. Absolutely love it. Cheers from Canada. Keep up the good work.
Loved this upload Chopsy. At this time of year, your videos are even more important to me, when I can’t ride my bikes as much. I could happily listen to you talk bollocks for hours and hours ❤😊
Great stuff Chopsie - enjoyed that - especially as I could hear you nice and clearly!!!! Your list of sponsors is the envy of the Vlogging world - no wonder you can afford a copper bath tub you fancy devil!!
I hear ya. The weather here usually breaks up October/ November, snow, ice and freezing temps. It's so depressing taking the batteries out my bikes and knowing that I'm grounded for the next 5-6 months. Only made worse when, after you make the decision, you get 2-3 days the following week that you could have went out for a wee ride. Happy belated Birthday! I have a couple of years on ya, and I can confirm, it sux getting older 😁
Wonderful Video , totally agree with you that motorcycle riding is like a therapy, I forget everything - it's just the next gear , next turn and the roar of the v twin .. I am nearing 50 and can understand the struggle of trying to maintain fitness whilst battling injuries - but please keep at it , even moderate exercise (whatever suits you) is beneficial in the long run . Diet - that's tougher but again be persistent. I enjoy your videos a lot , a couple of them helped me during the purchase of my current bike , keep it up, and yes keep sharing and talking
So looking forward to next year.I had so much riding planned for this year but found out end of January that I needed a fairly major operation which was done March. My dad passed away end of April and I didn't start back to work full time till September but the very few times I got the bike out made me instantly feel better.Roll on next year.
At 56 I hear you about the plantar fascititis, had it in both feet last 2 years, my tip, strap it up as tight as you can bare & keep the foot from bending when walking
@@LambChopRides I meant had it in both feet at different times but all good now, lots of strapping, keep it flat & kmarts cheapest trainers did the trick
Love the new helmet chops! Might be a good idea to do an episode on the various helmets out there!!! You guys seem to have a far bigger selection than what we have here in Oz! Know the feeling about getting old and dealing with shit weather. You are welcome to come over here for our summer and soak up some sun!
Agree with the mental Hesketh thing. Luckily, here in Thailand, the winter season has just started, which means 25C, cool breezes, and no rain - you should try it 😉
Absolutely agree about the mental health and riding the bike 🙂👍🏼 I only started riding at 62 yrs after watching videos like yours, Teapotone, TMF and UsernameKate, and it’s wonderful to just get out and ride, so wish I’d done it years ago 🤷🏼♂️. It’s a shame about your ailments, I’m now a 64 yr old type 2 diabetic who was in denial, I had numbness in feet so I cut out all the sugary foods and after 3 months I’ve gone from 98Kg to 82Kg and wow what a difference. Numbness gone, blood sugar under control so positive vibes coming your way
I've had plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis my wear heel inserts off amazon its a little weird at first but I gave it the benefit and it works for me and I walk about 10 miles every day at work
The last 3-4 years the weather has really turned to worse.. more storms and ridiculous amounts of rain! I had my last ride in October 2023 and took my first ride in 2024 a couple of days ago. It was great feeling the bike again, but I couldn’t go anywhere every road was wet and muddy or flooded 👎🏻 so honestly it was a waste of time, felt like it took forever to get the bike clean again. So now I’ll wait until the weather is a lot better.
I’m in Perth West Australia this summer, we’ve got the opposite problem. It’s too bloody hot to ride. About to have a week of 40degrees C. Will have to get out for an early morning or late evening ride
I'm 55. I enjoy watching your vids from Japan. At our age, we all need a balanced lifestyle. Being yourself, working with good people, sleeping enough, not eating past a certain hour, getting enough exercise to balance the down time, and keeping the faith.. (..It does help if you've researched out of body experiences and near death experiences for years and years.) Oh, and try staying away from watching the news and maybe replace that with cool music. Keep up the vids. Much love and respect. Safe riding.
Enjoyed that Chopsie! Us 52 year olds are aching all over, the problem is i still think im 21...🤣🤣 A quick question for you and Gregorio who is the best at wheelies? As we sll ❤️ wheelie"s! 👍👍
As a marathon runner I've had plantar fascitis several times. While you're sitting down get a tennis ball and roll it back and forth under your foot, slowly increasing the pressure. It'll definitely help. Best of luck.
Couldn’t agree more chopsy! I think this year has been a bit crap for a lot of people, I’ve had sciatica for almost a year now, and in the space of a month my auntie and my mum passed away, but enough doom and gloom! Love the content as always 👌
Loving the vids buddy, I do the same as you at home. I go out on the bike when I want in the summer months. Then I the winter months I do what ever the misses wants. Just finished kitchen 👍🏼
Know what you mean hate winter months, did get out last week, dry day but roads a bit damp and bike looks like it’s been through a field. Had the fasciitis myself, podiatrist said to fill a bottle with water, freeze it then roll your foot back and forth from heel to the ball of your foot. Everyone is different but it worked pretty quickly for me.
Great Vid John, that RST suit story had me laughing with their off the peg one not playing ball 😂😂Love the Vlogs again, thought they were dead in the water but this has brought back a bit of old school-ness to it. I can relate to the whole weather thing tbh, it gets difficult when you're unable to get out for a bit of headspace in the helmet over the winter months, Whatever ya do just keep up the great work👌
Best thing I did to lose weight was the 16 8 diet (sometimes called intermittent fasting) , basically have dinner at say 7pm then don’t eat till 11am next day. So you have an 8 hour window for eating. Rolled oats for your breakfast lot of energy that lasts and cut back on beer. Walking is great sounds like you’re doing that. I’m your age and fit my jeans from my 20s. Bonus is your bike will be a lot faster too. Oh and stretching. I refuse to give up sports bike due to age so I do hamstring stretches everyday. I feel better too for doing all of this. Much less grumpy with the world in general. Good luck mate. Always enjoy your videos.
Mate, you’ve hit the nail on the head on this vid… Bloody depressing this time of year in the UK! I’ve got an H2SXSE that is my pride and joy, but refuse to ride it in this s### weather, so I bought a Honda Crosstourer DCT to keep the H2 company. I now have no depression and go out whatever the conditions👌🏽give the Honda a quick wash off each time I return and wait for the next blast out👍🏽😂
I haven't started mine since the start of November, having similar dodgy ankle and what I call my Astra Zenica leg. going out this weekend though Chops. ps. I love your little mirror
Ah my English Doppler ganger, 53 check. Plantar check . 701 out today check. Big smile, dam straight. DIY nope. Thanks for the vids, looking forward to seeing money bags Greg.👊
Life may be good however go out for a 2 hour run on the bike makes you feel brilliant for a good few days 😊, I bought a HJC six and a half years ago loved it , in the first 3 months visor front clip broke 😢 ,HJC didn’t want to replace it , I complained to the shop i bought it from they took it up eventually with the rep HJC , gave me a visor replacement, several months later same thing again clip disintegrated, 😮 I bought a visor that broke, , apparently it was a common fault, so the helmet is hanging up not being used ,I bought a shark helmet, I’ve replaced the visor once in over four years , can’t grumble at that , Thought you’d left the country be looking out for a bit of new video material from you , well worth the wait 👍🏻,
Great to get out on the bike Chopsy , certainly helps the mind and body ! Been worst weather for as long as I can recall this year 🙁🙁 was out today on the old Xr400 freezing but great just to be out .👍. I know what you mean about this time of year miserable . Is the ktm any more comfy with the new seat on it ? Looking to get the 701 a bit more comfy for more miles next season , was thinking of a gel insert etc ?😁 get a treadmill in the garage chopsy I go on it and watch the TH-cam yourself included while I run a wee couple of miles 👍👍 feel better after doing that mate .👍👍
It's certainly better than standard & an improvement over the KTM comfort version. If only I could use a treadmill, that's how I got the tendinitis in the first place.. can't even walk now mate let alone run 😞
Always love the motorbike vlog mate I got a Yamaha mt09 my self and I ride all year round but yeah I agree I hate the winter as well I’m always depressed in the winter and bikes is my medication! 😩👌👍
It's horrible outside, I'm with you about hating this time of year. I've given up on getting out, just put the bike on its stand, filled it with fuel additive, and put the cover on. 😢
Can’t beat an good ol vlog, hope the fasciitis is sorted soon, have you tried fasciitis compression socks (open toed socks that go beneath your socks) I found they helped when I had it when I started running a few years ago.
I fully understand the biking mindset So much so I started to use the bike as my daily instead of the car because it puts in a better place My younger biking days was all about the adrenaline rush but nowadays it’s all about “getting away from it all” and there’s no better way than getting out on the bike and leaving the madness behind me (at least for a while anyway) I also do a lot of two up stuff with the wife nowadays It’s not something you can explain to anyone who doesn’t already understand Keep up the good work chops 👍
Your seriously not wrong about this time of year Chopsy absolutely shite & how depressing is it as it just doesn't seem to stop raining I'd rather it bit like back in the day winter's freezing cold but completely blue sky's!!!🤬🥺 Hope you feel better soon with all your issues Chops!!🤞🏼👌👍
+1 for biking helping with mental health - I've definitely suffered more this year due to not getting out and riding as much. It's just such a good way to empty your head for a few hours - gives your brain some space. Too busy enjoying the riding, and no time to think of anything else. But videos like this help us when we can't get out. You're cheaper than a therapist! :D And a penny floor in your downstairs loo?! You'll be swapping the H2 for a Brough Superior next..... ;)
I have a SDR and had a 701, no issues besides from the 701 clutch slave cylinder, which KTM knew for years and they didn't fix it. They even replaced it with another bad slave cylinder, so that people ended up stranding several times. I think that's how you earn a bad reputation...
Enjoyed the vlog, sorry to hear about your foot issues, I swear by Turmeric & black pepper capsules, and eat plenty of turmeric in my diet, it is natures best anti-inflammatory, at your age I was creaking, now at 66 years old no aches or pains. Can ride all day no bother. Thank you.
52 years young 😉, agree re the weather ( lack of light) from a 64 years young ex pat in Warsaw , currently 🥶so no riding for me , thanks for all the fabulous content 👍 Oh and good luck with the DIY 💪🏼
Thank you Chops you guilted me into a bike ride today. Seriously, thank you. Also I’ve had not a problem with the 2021 890R. On a side note I’m practically drooling over that new Ducati 698 Mono! Great vid Chops👏
Chronic pain sucks, hope you heal up quickly John. I hate this time of year too, but trail riding is the saviour for me, if you sort a bike and you fancy going for a spin, give me and Fish a shout... be fun to do a re-run of the stickypoo run we did the other year! 😀 I really need to do some stuff to my house, but motorcycles keep distracting me! 😀
I miss riding, it is my biggest thing for my mental health. I brought myself a Hypermotard 1100s :P and just fallen in love with road riding again, after being a track rat for 2 years and racing, its been great to get a easy going fun bike again, still miss the track massively tho, sadly cost of living is just hitting home still so i cant afford to get out on track, but i will do as soon as I can!!
Love this video about yourself & all your issues hope things get better for you soon Chops + your smc !! But can I ask you if there is any manufacturer out there that you can buy a Two Stroke for the road that is like a dirt bike but with rear pegs so i can every now & then take the misses out as im gagging too get a Two Stroke again but no one seems to make a good old Two Stroke these days!!!😢 All the best Dave...👍
Glad you got out! Here in an Idaho ski town things are starting to look pretty bleak. Anyway, please post a pic of your penny floor! Never heard of such a thing! I’ve been 47 years in the building industry and I’ve about had enough. I’ll show my wife your floor and she’s bound to keep me busy in my retirement.
Haa only 52! Wait for the next 10 years,as long as I can get on and ride that's what keeps me going. Must admit didn't really want to sell my 690 but with the crappy weather coming I knew it was only going to sit in the garage till probably Easter and I thought I'd get a bike for the winter so I could keep riding. Keep up the good work 👍
Oh buddy, totally get what you are saying. I turn 52 next year also and am feeling every year, month and day of it. And it's been so cold in the last few days, it's really getting me down, compounded by a challenging professional situation... Your channel and content have been superb this year. I can imagine it's a lot of work and pressure earning a living off creating content. Gorilla or Bear? Shouldn't you go for a lamb or ram instead? 😂😂😂
690 Enduro R is the best all year round bike in my opinion. Enough power to have a good giggle, with 50 \ 50 tyres you can use it all year round on shitty roads and on trails if you're lucky enough to find one. Big sports bike, and an enduro bike, sorted!
Hey chops. I had fasciitis in my right heel, bloody awful. Decided to clean up my diet, kick the booze and hey presto it's disappeared (🤞). I don't envy you mate.
Yes choppsie can't wait to get out i have been of the bike for 11 weeks just had new hip, you need to see a good sports physio and get a massage ball and plenty ice, or you will be the same in 12 months time. Good luck 🤞
I’m on my 2nd super duke chops , absolutely love em “animals 😁” never had a problem with them, and we’ve toured Europe and all over the uk As for your foot problem ( can’t spell it sorry ) I suffered with that too, very painful, eventually I bought myself some FP INSOLES ( the game changers ) honesty mate , they have saved me , 100% recommend them and I’m on my feet all day, with them bad boys in, I can now easily go on a 10 mile hike over any terrain, look them up chops 👌
I have a 2019 too like you. Bought on december 2021 with 8000kms and now as almost 32000kms. I love the bike and will keep it till i am broke but already have enought issues with it: Cracked piston (september 2023, +- 30 000kms), cracked cylinder head(she always spit coolant),the radiator tube leaked(april 2023, 24 000kms), broken clutch basket+broken disc (febuary 2023, 20 000kms) and now one of the clutch disks broke again. For me worst then the reliability is the fact that KTM never has stock and cant give a estimated time. I waited 2 and a half months for a headgasket. I am going to maybe buy a MT-07 that is bulletproof or something like that to ride when the KTM is down.
@@LambChopRides it got a 2022 cylinder head with low mileage since mine was cracked. Replace the valve seals, new complete piston and new head studs, valve shims ... I ride just weekends but an average of 10 000kms each year so i would like that the bike wont need so much attention. I had 3 MT-07 and they just need fuel. If Yamaha got a CP2 supermoto would be a nice competion on the market even if a little more heavier then the KTM and the future ducati.
Strangely i have also been doing my downstairs toilet this last week 😂😂 but sun was out at lunchtime and i thought i would take the old gsxr 1000 k1 out for a blast for the first time in a couple of months. Wow, what a bike it still is, even today. Wheelies like a beast 😂😂😂 i feel so much better for the ride!
@lambchoprides What a rant of unconnected gibberish! 😮….. just what I needed. Loved the mental escape as your virtual pillion on this bimble. 👏👏👏👏🏍👌👌🥰🥃✊🏼👍
£50 worth of 1ps - that was a good days work at Creek Road arcade moosh ! Sounds like you are going all Laurence Llewellyn Bowen with the decor Chops 😂😂
It’s just utterly depressing this time of year. Went out 2wks ago and even though it was dry I got caught out with the absolute filth on the road and ended up cleaning for 2hrs 😂. Never tried the KTM, it looks like a very fun machine. Have to agree with the other comments on here about riding and mental health, it’s an absolute godsend. I also have intermittent issue with my wrist and arthritis.. I feel your pain quite literally! 😂
Totally agree with how good a ride out helps with resetting your mental health, fingers crossed next year will be sun sun sun 👍
it won’t, you knows it!
You should do a monthly update vlog every, err, month. Quite enjoyable listening to you rambling away letting us know what's going on.

I can relate to the whole weather thing tbh, it gets difficult when you're unable to get out for a bit of headspace in the helmet over the winter months, Whatever ya do just keep up the great work👌
Thanks Mark appreciated buddy 👍
Glad to see the SMCR is still around. I just bought one yesterday!
Yes of course it is, great bike 👍👍
chopsy you need to do some eccentric stretching for Achilles and some general calf stretches for your Planter fascitis
I now have no depression and go out whatever the conditions👌🏽give the Honda a quick wash off each time I return and wait for the next blast out👍🏽😂
Difficult to beat the now Old 690's in all their different flavours.Cheers.
I haven't started mine since the start of November, having similar dodgy ankle and what I call my Astra Zenica leg. going out this weekend though Chops. ps. I love your little mirror
Ah my English Doppler ganger,
53 check.
Plantar check .
701 out today check.
Big smile, dam straight.
DIY nope.
Thanks for the vids, looking forward to seeing money bags Greg.👊
That is one sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet looking bike Chopster.
Thanks Kate! 👍
Life may be good however go out for a 2 hour run on the bike makes you feel brilliant for a good few days 😊,
I bought a HJC six and a half years ago loved it , in the first 3 months visor front clip broke 😢 ,HJC didn’t want to replace it , I complained to the shop i bought it from they took it up eventually with the rep HJC , gave me a visor replacement, several months later same thing again clip disintegrated, 😮 I bought a visor that broke, , apparently it was a common fault, so the helmet is hanging up not being used ,I bought a shark helmet, I’ve replaced the visor once in over four years , can’t grumble at that ,
Thought you’d left the country be looking out for a bit of new video material from you , well worth the wait 👍🏻,
Great to get out on the bike Chopsy , certainly helps the mind and body !
great vlog love you're new helmet
Recommend acupuncture for tendinitis. Worked for me
Can’t beat an good ol vlog, hope the fasciitis is sorted soon, have you tried fasciitis compression socks (open toed socks that go beneath your socks) I found they helped when I had it when I started running a few years ago.
I also hate this time of year. I can’t wait for the next season to start.
You should try the frozen peas in a tea cloth, I had this awhile ago and it really helped, but you must persevere
I fully understand the biking mindset
So much so I started to use the bike as my daily instead of the car because it puts in a better place
My younger biking days was all about the adrenaline rush but nowadays it’s all about “getting away from it all” and there’s no better way than getting out on the bike and leaving the madness behind me (at least for a while anyway) I also do a lot of two up stuff with the wife nowadays
It’s not something you can explain to anyone who doesn’t already understand
Keep up the good work chops 👍
Your seriously not wrong about this time of year Chopsy absolutely shite & how depressing is it as it just doesn't seem to stop raining I'd rather it bit like back in the day winter's freezing cold but completely blue sky's!!!🤬🥺 Hope you feel better soon with all your issues Chops!!🤞🏼👌👍
Nice relaxing ride to reflect over the last year. All this talk about bathrooms has reminded me . Going to spend a penny . Catch you later Chops .
Great video. Love the race suit 👌 🏍
Thanks buddy 👍
Thanks buddy 👍
I had no trouble with a KTM 950 Adventure over two years and 20,000 miles. My KTM 390 Duke has performed faultlessly over 25,000 km.
See you in full glory in spring and summer Chopsy! Hope you can loose some weight, I know you can! You've been in the army right? Strong guy you are.
Thank you.
52 years young 😉, agree re the weather ( lack of light) from a 64 years young ex pat in Warsaw , currently 🥶so no riding for me , thanks for all the fabulous content 👍
Oh and good luck with the DIY 💪🏼
Love the Crispy Design stuff - I need to liven up my 22 SMC-R with some of his goodies!!
I really need to do some stuff to my house, but motorcycles keep distracting me! 😀
Thanks Peter, yeah hoping to get my hands on something soon!! 🤞🤞🤞
@@LambChopRides awesome 👌
I miss riding, it is my biggest thing for my mental health. I brought myself a Hypermotard 1100s :P and just fallen in love with road riding again, after being a track rat for 2 years and racing, its been great to get a easy going fun bike again, still miss the track massively tho, sadly cost of living is just hitting home still so i cant afford to get out on track, but i will do as soon as I can!!
Happy Christmas to you and your family mate 🎉
Same to you! 👍
Keep up the good work 👍
gr8 vid as usual i am also missing riding big time cant wait for some half tidy weather
Haha thanks buddy 👍👍 This isn't actually my day job... I'm also holding down a decent IT day job! 🤯
great vid Chopsy
690 Enduro R is the best all year round bike in my opinion. Enough power to have a good giggle, with 50 \ 50 tyres you can use it all year round on shitty roads and on trails if you're lucky enough to find one. Big sports bike, and an enduro bike, sorted!
Hey chops. I had fasciitis in my right heel, bloody awful. Decided to clean up my diet, kick the booze and hey presto it's disappeared (🤞). I don't envy you mate.
Really enjoy your vids, nice one. 👍👍
Yes choppsie can't wait to get out i have been of the bike for 11 weeks just had new hip, you need to see a good sports physio and get a massage ball and plenty ice, or you will be the same in 12 months time. Good luck 🤞
I’m on my 2nd super duke chops , absolutely love em “animals 😁” never had a problem with them, and we’ve toured Europe and all over the uk
As for your foot problem ( can’t spell it sorry )
I suffered with that too, very painful, eventually I bought myself some FP INSOLES ( the game changers ) honesty mate , they have saved me , 100% recommend them and I’m on my feet all day, with them bad boys in, I can now easily go on a 10 mile hike over any terrain, look them up chops 👌
Oh fantastic I will check those out 👍👍
feel the same m8 need to get out gota load to ride
I have a 2019 too like you. Bought on december 2021 with 8000kms and now as almost 32000kms. I love the bike and will keep it till i am broke but already have enought issues with it:
Cracked piston (september 2023, +- 30 000kms), cracked cylinder head(she always spit coolant),the radiator tube leaked(april 2023, 24 000kms), broken clutch basket+broken disc (febuary 2023, 20 000kms) and now one of the clutch disks broke again.
For me worst then the reliability is the fact that KTM never has stock and cant give a estimated time. I waited 2 and a half months for a headgasket.
I am going to maybe buy a MT-07 that is bulletproof or something like that to ride when the KTM is down.
Some issues there but milage is getting high. Might be time for a topend rebuild?
Haha well great minds and all that! 😁👍
I'm with you on that, l have been riding since l was 4 still got my frist bike which my grandad gave me a old cz.
@lambchoprides What a rant of unconnected gibberish! 😮….. just what I needed. Loved the mental escape as your virtual pillion on this bimble. 👏👏👏👏🏍👌👌🥰🥃✊🏼👍
Thanks Scott 😁👍
Yup this time of year sucks. 5 more months before motorcycle season starts.
