THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU. You described exactly what happened to me. The pain on the tendons of the hand and thumb are exactly as where you described. I could have been the end of my cello journey. I am sure bow hold has been the end of talented cellists. This is a great lesson, Gabriel.
Maybe its time for a change. Just because it was used for century doesn't mean its correct. You are working with harmony with your body and its shows with your explanation. very intelligent
loosening the thumb is absolutely key. Good video.
Thanks for sharing!
I'm currently struggling with tension in my thumb but I thought I had to keep my hand as is to keep the right form. Will now definitely try different things and see what works for me
Thank you for share your tips! It really helped me. Can I ask you which instrument do you use? It sounds really amazing.
You’re very welcome, and glad it helped. It’s a composite Francesco Ruggieri, c. 1690
Great video! I’ve been curious about your use of supination for a while now.
Would you consider doing a video on how you approach the Sonatas and Partitas on cello? Or more broadly transcribing/arranging for cello? Especially since so few cellists have recorded these pieces and even fewer have shared their thoughts about them. Thanks!
Good idea!
Independent thought begets independent approach…even in holding our fingers.
