Jeff Buckley was a roadie for Glen while he was on tour for the movie The Commitments, they were close friends. Glen was actually the reason that Jeff ever played at Sin E in the first place, they club asked Glen to come down and play a few songs, and then Jeff asked if he could play a few too.....no one had any idea what they were about to witness.
I searched for a guitar cover of Buzzin Fly, pretty sure that a decent one couldn't exist. I had no idea Glen and Marketa covered it. That was electrifying, absolute genius. The insertion of those lines from Grace beautifully compliments and clarifies what the lyrics of Buzzin Fly have always meant, in my mind; a promise to persist in some way after death. This cover is a masterpiece.
they started their set with this at the hollywood bowl and it was the best opening ive ever seen. it was incredible. by far the best show ive ever been to.
The transition from buzzing fly to grace... is one of the best moments in music. We saw them live in Berlin in 2009 (2010?) and they performed this medley. Just absolutely incredible.
Simply amazing! You are keeping Tim's spirit alive. Most people have never heard of Tim Buckley. And I was one of the lucky ones that stumbled upon his music back in the late sixties. Thank you for the post. You put a huge smile on my face!
@indiantribal he just drop tunes to D, and plays a normal D chord but he takes his finger off the G string (you can hear it when hes playing). im not really sure how to do the part from Grace.
i think glen and jeff met a couple of times. or they toured together. cant remember how it was. still, this is one of my favorite songs of tim. always listened to it during my walk to school in the summertime.
I did not expect Jeff Buckley's "Grace" in the middle there, briliant stuff!

good interview here: th-cam.com/video/NNraYinI4bA/w-d-xo.html
I have watched this video over a dozen times. Does not...in any way get old. The velocity of his strumming is...amazing. Gets me every time.

he's going to be so devastated when that guitar eventually caves in on itself...

I burst into tears at that moment. Knowing that they were friends… it was a complete blindside. I’ll revisit the video forever.
These two sing like they need each other.
That gotta be the best guitar ever.To be able to channel all glen's passion and turn it into music that sounds awesome. Not an ordinary guitar...
Never gets old. Amazing.

oh my word. everyone of their songs just sends chills rifling through my body
Amazing! When he cut into Grace I almost choked with wonderment.. By far the best Tim Buckley cover I've seen.
One of my favorites , a beautiful cover.
I wish this was recorded a little louder. Still pretty special after all these years.
Love these two, wish they'd do another Swell Season album. Love Glen and Marketa's take on this song.
That's so good it gives me goose bumps...
incredibile! TOP!
Simply brilliant
If you thought this rendition of Buzzin Fly was good, then check out the Tim Buckley live recording 'Dream Letter'. That performance is sublime!
Bravo!
Love this cover but Tim's original...Oh, man, without equal.
😁😁😁😃. . .👍
i looked up tim buckley and saw the once dude... not what i expected but i am pleasantly surprised

4:30... ironically reminds me off Jeff Buckley the way he holds the note
와우~ ㅠㅠ
I agree, but this song was gold way before glen covered it!
Fuckin' fantastic!
at 3:51 it looks like hes broken.
This song really ought to be performed on a 12-string acoustic guitar like Buckley's original version was.
Hmmm, I disagree. This performance is an authentic and loving engagement with the song, rather than an attempt to reproduce a recording.
@paulmailloux sorry man, I know you mean well, but Tim Buckley's just really hard to top. Sorry.
Why should anyone want to turn diamonds into gold? o_O
okay cover but not even in the same building as buckley's
