      I hope someone listened or listens to him and the needed changes happen. Things do happen for a reason.

      I'm sure his old man rightly had nothing but pride, Barry seems an admirable man. His happiness at surviving this nightmare is clearly far outweighed by his obvious anger that so many more could've been saved.

    It breaks my heart to think of all the people that survived the crash, then burned to death.

    Greg Fiefe is like Gil Grissom from CSI. You just know he’s gonna find out what happened and be fair and unbiased while doing it.

    The turbulence left the passengers shaken. Am I the only person to notice a pun there?

    Good God Man I remember the moment I first heard about this crash, me and my grandfather were watching a TNG Marathon and it was the first time me and him found out about an aviation disaster at the same time, usually he'd learn it happened far before I did, though at the time I was only 11 while he was 66, but besides that he had a much more major advantage being a retired 747-200 Captain at the time(he flew 747-200 for Iberia his last 11 years leading up to his retirement in 1994) and maintained a very strong presence and network of Friends,Colleagues and Co Workers and he almost always made sure he was well educated and kept in the loop of even small details in the industry, it's not hard to surmise why I'm such a Major Aviation Super Nerd/Freak...but hearing the details alongside him let me see first hand just how these disasters affect him and other Pilots and even with many of the most important details still to be released, when they were we both were shocked at the number of those souls that perished...I remember thinking there had to be Fatalities or possibly worse but I thought no more than 50 people had died(which is still no question a great loss of life) and when we found out it was many more it really left us Slack Jawed & Shocked...I got eternal respect for those like Governor Gutierrez who could've stayed behind and made others risk their lives but never even recognized it as an option cuz that's so much like me to where if I ever was President Of The US or leader of any state, country etc..my bodyguards, Secret Service etc would probably hate me cuz like Gutierrez and Zelensky ain't no way I'm sending anyone into harm's way while I sit back and relax..aint no way...NO MUTHAF*+KIN WAY!!

    Benzodiazopines (like Lorazopam) are not sedatives by nature (like Propofol is, for instance). It is not generally used as a sedative, or for the purpose of inducing general anaesthesia in a patient. They are drugs prescribed to treat a number of issues, including but not limited to anxiety disorders, active seizures, sleep problems and irritability or agitation. They are often misconstrued as sedatives because of their effect to calm and relax muscles, relieve anxiety and induce a mild amnesia usually prior to a medical procedure.

    Had the pilot used any information from the glide scope signal?? He had already been told that it was not working. Also, was it the FAA who made that change in Guam regarding the safe minimum system? Or was it the local people? What a ridiculous, terrible and DEADLY decision! RIP to those who were lost. And Last… So there still has been NO change in the way alcohol is carried in airliners?!

    I don't understand the statement about the alcohol that was stored in the top. Drinking alcohol? If so, it has to be about 110 or above proof in order to be flammable. Airlines usually have typical whiskeys and vodka, etc. None usually being over 80 proof. If I am right, that explains why they aren't concerned with where it's stored. It would actually do more to put out a fire than start one. Or am I missing something?

    If they had done a missed approach when the first call for it went out, they would have been fine. Had they not done it at all, everyone would have died.

    Isn't there a decision height where the airport must be in sight?

    When The Lord allows a person to survive something this horrific, you need to listen to them! It just makes sense what Barry Smalls has to say about the storage of alcohol in overhead compartment bins, where O2 cannisters are close in proximity. From the looks of things, separate from the crash, fires were ignited & explosions that led to more fire that killed those trapped & badly injured, were started from that source. And I wholeheartedly agree about those crossbars on the seats. If you are 5'8" or taller, you know what I mean. The bars could be in the front of the seats; in fact it would make storing a bag/personal item and stretching out your legs easier. I think there's been other episodes where people suffered broken legs because of the metal bar.

    So do I. I just wished they did reuploaded these older more Dated episodes as frequently as they do. There’s 22 season they have 1-8 skip ten and maybe 9 .tben they have season 10 and 12 and skip 11. Past season 12 that you have to go to the other parents channels like air investigation channel our they Smithsonian TH-cam channel to see them.

    One would think, that once crashed and able to get out, most decent people would see if another injured passenger needed your help-instead , but ya it must be the extra liquor bottles were to blame supposedly-hope said not mentioned person enjoys his settlement

    The DME is on the plane not the ground. They crashed into the VOR on a Non-Precision Approach. The is no such thing as a DME on or at the airport unless it is in the cockpit of the plane. Poor aviation consulting. If you are trying to dumb it down for the non flying public, why use acronyms at all.

    • @goldenshield
      @goldenshield 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sure, the DME interrogator is on the airplane, but it has to interrogate something, and that something it interrogates is usually co-located with another type of beacon, and those are (usually) located at the airport. While ILS/DME is quite common now, it wasn't back then. At the time, it was quite common for a local VOR or VOR/DME to be used instead (either DME or radial). However, what wasn't common was for the DME of that ILS to be based off a VOR that's a fair distance from the threshold. That said, in this particular instance, the DME readings would have read similar to a VOR approach.
