    Excellent video Graham, loving the Rover V8 videos as I have a couple of them. One std and a warmed up one.

    this is why i put a stype 4.2 in my rr chassis, 290bhp straight out of the [cheap scrapyard] box, + 17mpg if you drive like a fanny
    but the original 1975 [stromberged] 126bhp v8, 11mpg, is still in the corner, just in case....
    + when i can afford [ha ha] uprated axles, i can chuck the supercharger on... keep up the excellent work

    How about a power run with K&N air filters?

      I might some day, but every time you change the filtration it changes the carb settings so that will have to wait until im running a dyno mule not a clients engine

      @@PenguinMotors I always was under the assumption the p6 box was pretty restrictive.. on another note the SU carbs with external floats I don't think are very good either

      powerwise at least, theres no difference between HS and HIF carbs

    P6 with big filters in the 3rd run made good low down torque

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it did, obviously low Down the filters held it back but at high rpm the filter box holds it back

    Ide be tempted to drill a massive hole out of sight on the underside of the airbox if thats possible?

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes either underside or rear and it wouldn’t be seen

    Any needle swap needed for the sd1 airbox or fit and play?

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      before the filter swap i had already fitted different needles as it was lean, for the filter the test i didnt change needles, but i did have to richen it up a bit.

    I never realised that a Rover 3.5 only made around 150bhp.
    Seems poor for that capacity?

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not really, it was about right for the era, to put it into perspective, 3.0 ford v6 made 138bhp. Triumph stag 3.0 v8 was 145bhp, low compression rover v8 as fitted to MGB and Range Rover were only 135bhp.

      Correct Graham, and every motorway police force used P6 V8s because they were powerful in their day
