"I'm very protective of my co-workers" ... What about the time where he banned, on pain of being fired, anyone on the set to speak to his female co-star on a movie because she fought off his sexual assault.

That happened to me in the USAF after reporting my assault. THE ENTIRE BASE picked on me from knocking on my door often & leaving or saying things, leaving notes. Calling on the hall phone, that's used for family calls & hanging up. Blocking all doors I needed to enter & exit, etc. 24/7. We had classes to study for tests or worked from sun-up to sun-down. I transfered, but it followed me at my new location. WHY? It's in my PERSONNEL file, NOT Medical. Police Dept is the same way. That's call The Blue Flu or THE Chill in probably all jobs.

@@ivee5022 Sorry to hear you were assaulted, and that your brothers in arms turned their backs on you. On a very different situation, I spoke up about illegal behaviour at my old company. I followed all the correct whistleblower channels that should have protected my identity. 2 days later I was ostracised by the whole team - boss and peers alike. Then suddenly it was judged that my performance was bad, and they wanted to fire me. So I said fine, that will cost you $200,000. So they paid me to go. Then when I did my tax return, it turned out they had overpaid tax by $60,000 ha ha. So the tax was returned to me; I have it in an escrow account; I emailed them 5 times to say I had something that I urgently needed to discuss with them about my leaving arrangements ... and I haven't heard from them. That was 10 years ago. I'll give it another 5 years, and then get legal advice as to whether I can keep the money

Thank. I'm always a Jerry Lewis' fan. Just look at him how greatly he describes the art of showbiz and comedy to us so profoundly great. I don't see today's so called "artists" or "actors" who get paid millions of dollars for NOTHING deliver such great artistic conversation. Most "actors"/"artists" in today's Hollywood are empty headed school dropouts who used to be in gangs and even homeless. But they're there for that very same reason, to produce more of themselves, to dumb down the new generations. This was NOT the goal of entertainment industry before; the opposite of was true(to promote great art and thoughts); it changed for worse.

Before he teamed up with Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis' act consisted of miming to records. But to hear Jerry talk, he was the creative genius behind the team. Granted Lewis was funny, at times, but without Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis would never have achieved the fame that he did. And for the record, it was Dean and not Jerry that broke up the act. Dean admitted to a BBC interviewer that he had grown tired of acting in the Hal Wallis movies where his role was reduced to just a few songs and acting in order to make more room for Jerry. Jerry's former film crews say that he did the most fantastical things; he knew all the worker's spouses names their kids names and what sports music they were involved in . At Christmas he would have a big party for cast and crew and one just for the children of the cast and crew. Now those same kids are grandparents and recall Jerry asking them how was the pitching was working out on his baseball team or someone's tap lessons.. Very sensitive thoughtful genius of a man. Cheers for uploads. So appreciative of your good works that will be treasured always.

I couldn't talk, and was tapping my boyfriend to look up, but my boyfriend didn't look and walked away. Jerry ran away from me, and finaly I yelled that was Jerry Lewis. My boyfriend said no way, but I said listen to his voice. He told me to go say hi, but I was scared. I waited in an isle Jerry was going to pass, but another fan stopped him and asked for an autograph. Jerry said no cuz people mall me, but the store was pretty empty. When Jerry passed my isle, I said hi Jerry, HE IGNORED ME AND HID BEHIND THE CASH REGISTER COUNTER! I was devastated! I was crying and my boyfriend felt really bad so he tried pulling up to Jerry's van but I was ignored again. I'm still heartbroken and it's been over 20 yrs. Lewis is very hard to understand and the reason is most likely that he was undiagnosed bipolar. He shows all the outward signs. People expect him to be perfect. I have always adored Jerry, and I have heard countless times that he had a huge ego. I think, I would not care a twit about this man, or love to hear him talk, if he did not have a huge ego. He is a special person in so many ways, not the least of which is his wit, his humor, his articulateness. He was a high school dropout. Self-educated, one who lived life to the fullest and gave the world so much. If anyone deserves a huge ego, he does. Yet I see in the midst of what others call a huge ego simplistic humility and honesty. He just openly speaks about what he knows. I have watched every interview of him on youtube and never grow tired of him. I doubt I could listen to any of his dissenters for two minutes without yawning.

Jerry Lewis certainly did alot to help young disabled children.
    I respect him for that.
However, there were many occasions when Jerry was mean and nasty to people
Jerry saw it as joking around - he even said so - but many people interpreted his jokes as extremely mean and nasty and they voiced their concerns to him.
I dont think Jerry realised that not everyone appreciated his crude style of jokes or crude off screen humour.
His off screen humour was very different from his on screen humour.
The ON SCREEN Jerry was the child friendly Jerry that we saw.
But the OFF SCREEN Jerry was the adult content Jerry that only people like me who have worked in the industry saw firsthand.
People need to learn to distinguish between the ON SCREEN Jerry and the
OFF SCREEN Jerry - as they were not the same person.
I met him several times in the late 1980's.
He told us that he was just joking around with us. (The crew)
Its just that other members of the crew did not always get the crude jokes - particularly his more "adult content" jokes.
That was the OFF SCREEN Jerry that i worked with in the late 1980's.
He was a great comic ON SCREEN - but
OFF SCREEN some of his more sexually explicit jokes with the crew were shocking to us.
Like i said, most people only saw the
ON SCREEN Jerry who was child friendly.
But i worked with the OFF SCREEN adult content Jerry that had a completely different style of humour from the ON SCREEN Jerry.
It was very adult content in terms of the nature of the jokes.
Our job as the crew is to shoot the scene after the background sets have been built and the wadrobe and make up artists have done their work and the lighting crew set up.
It was inbetween shooting scenes that i met the REAL Jerry - and trust me - his style of humour was completely different to his child friendly movies.

OMG, Jerry gets very dramatic about everything. Dang! Thanks for posting! Jerry was a childhood favorite of mine in the 60s to the 70s. Then we heard about all the issues in his family's life after his death, not a good look. But he was a big star and its always interesting to see what happens with someone you watched a lot in your life. Many celebrities' from this period had issues, some even killed themselves (and their family!).Very interesting that this includes the raw footage. The interviewer reminds me of a trans non comedic Woody Allen if he would have done that in 1995.
