@@Prororo GrimR's Lab, look up the Slingshot; he explains it really well.
@@Prororo the tech basically uses the buffer system to reverse ground momentum into air momentum while at the same time completely changing the direction of your character. You can do it at any time but the best time to do it is during the end lag of a move. You tap forward(cause it buffers as dash), then move the analog stick to a diagonal position opposite to the forward motion, the jump and simultaneously release the analog stick. If that didnt help, you should just listen to Q269 and watch the vid

100% agreed. Its nice seeing some quality Lucas play and someone respecting it. This is how Lucas is supposed to be played.

Wadi calling a wavebounce “wizardry” is the most on-brand thing I’ve ever seen
I find it funny that there’s this unspoken rule where no matter which game it is, Lucas just has some of the funkiest movement tech and any universal movement options that exist are just better on him. I.E longer directional air dodge distance.
Yeah, Lucas's air mobility combined with b-reverses and wavebounces allows for some crazy movement options. Same goes for his DJCZ shenanigans

Yea, as a Lucas main if you don’t play similarly to Nitox, the characters pretty insufferable. Full of rando up smash’s and b button spamming. Not to mention exclusively using down smash as an edge guard tool when he’s one of the best off stage characters in the game
I find that it really depends on level of play as well as the opponent. Like Lucas nearly hard counters Kazuya, but you have to be play a degenerate. And at low and mid level simply B-botton spam is good enough, however at high level your gameplan goes from budget samus to a mix between rushdown and trapper which is just vastly different way of playing. And due to the vastly different playstyle needed on high level most will not adjust.

I don't think there's a single character in Ultimate who doesn't have at least some sauce, and that's what I love about this game. Sure no Samus or Mega Man is ever going to approach, but when they do without I'm always terrified.

People tell me I sound Midwestern, literally the opposite issue. I've lived here my whole life.
I've played Lucas a bit on Ultimate and I personally find him easier than Ness and his tether can be handy to change up recovery. I'm not experienced enough to say he's actually good in many other ways, but probably not as terrible for recovering as it might seem on paper. Unless it's online lag then good luck drawing a circle.
