This was one of the more fun days of fishing I can remember! Who else has fished for these wipers before? Anyone got a good way to cook 'em? And what did you guys think about those egg sacks? Try or pass?!
Rob.... I gotta tell you, brother. I did NOT envy watching you eat those egg sacks. I've had salmon eggs before, and roe that is on sushi. What you ate was VERY different. But, I hung with you until the very end. Congrats on trying them. Lol
I’ve gone out on a guided trip with Christian at Fins + Grins and it was exactly like this video. We’ve caught a caught a 27 inch wiper and we caught 30 or so wipers in a day. He’s also great with kids, is patient and helps them learn how to fish.
Christian is a great guide. Three of us went out on El Dorado with him last year. One had no experience first time fishing. One was a goofy social worker and the wind was blowing big time but Christian got us on the fish and had a great day that we are still talking about and planning to do again this year.
That was pretty cool....didn't realize KS had such a gem.....Look forward to your trip to SD...been there numerous times but always on My Harley for Bike Week! it's gorgeous there!!! If I had to guess you may be Trout Fishing there, possibly in Spearfish Canyon?
That’s funny about the white perch. Same story I was told about some lakes here in Nebraska. To fight the white perch they just stocked some flatheads and some Muskie and more wiper, can’t complain about that 😅
That looked like a blast! I have caught wipers in Tennessee on A rigs and had a blast, but on a Crank wow! I would love to do that. I catch white bass in Pa but never ate one…. But now I am going to try it out! Fish eggs sacks….Mmm I am out NOT lol. Great video Robert.
Cool fishing video! Is your goal to fish every state in the United States? How many States have you fished so far? Where can I go to see your list and what species you caught? Thank you
waiting patiently for you to visit the big Western NY and seeing the fishery we have here... Awesome whippers. Also sometimes our walleye here get that red patch... we put our fillets in a pot with cold water and salt then ice on top let it sit til it gets that nice white meat looking goodness.
Was stationed in Kansas for a couple years at Ft. Riley. Used to catch hybrids just about every weekend I could fish. Caught lots of 8-10lb fish, did one day hook one that spooled me in about 30 seconds. Never even saw it. Couple people did catch a glimpse and just said it was BIG. Might have been a fabled 20lb+ fish. Best part was I hooked it top water with a Zara Spook. Exploded like a dang marlin followed by a toilet flushing. LOL They ate great for a fresh water fish from what I would describe as pretty foul water. Ate a lot of sauger and catfish too, the hybrids were definitely better.
Christian will put you on them for sure!!! Cheney lake is the hardest lake to fish in the state of Ks. It took me way to long to figure that lake out. Glad you found the go pro and footage!!! Pro tip - those gold fish work but soooo do perch… 🤙
Rob, in the future remove the eggs from the membrane and they will taste a whole lot different. Split the skein open and scrape out the eggs with a spoon. 😉
If the fish are hitting the live baits, I would try spoons and if silver doesn't work I will use brass. Thanks for the mini vacation and please keep the videos coming. Stay safe
Greetings and salutations from the Caribbean island of saint Lucia..love watching your video contents. In our island mahi mahi ,tuna and wahoo eggs are considered a delicacy.( Belive me when I say that 1 kilogram of fish eggs cost more than 1 kilogram of actual fish itself) To each his own and this is what our culture entails.
I never flip tiny filets like that. I let them broil on one side till they're white on top. It gives them more of a crust on one side. You can also make saltimbocca - just put a piece of bacon under the fish on the pan.
Hey brotha, i know i asked you this about a year ago but if you're ever in the San Antonio, TX area let me know. We have a couple land locked lakes that are stocked with Redfish. it is not uncommon to catch 35+ inch fish outta these lakes in a kayak. We chase them in kayaks all the time.
Double goldblad snaglysally spinner with a chartreuse and yellow skirt 1977 model oh there used to be a top water lure clear plastic with red gill lines and red or dark eyes see-through big fish eat them up and try a jitterbug black with red green spots .. like one fishing 🎣
Maybe you should have put that large fish egg sack on a hot dog bun with ketchup ? l o l I like my fish eggs on a barbed hook, and used for bait ONLY ! That makes you a braver man than I to eat them ! Now as for strippers, hybrids & yellow / white bass, I have found they all taste 10 times better when pulled out from a hole in the ice ! All-in-all good eating fish with a nice texture !!! 😋😋😋
Those Hybrid/Wiper are not much bigger than what we have here in Indiana. I like using a beer batter on fish like Perch as I find it kind of enhances the flavor. The Indiana state record for Yellow Perch is 2lb 8oz, so not too bad a size.
A striper that size definitely fights that hard if not harder. Ur just using much smaller gear fishing for those wipers so it seems like they r stronger

Egg sacks looked gross
Might be my wallet taking but it almost looks good.🤷♂️
Welcome to Kansas BABY!!! Glad to see that you made it here. Would love to wet a line with you next time you are in the state.

Always try.

Hello friends greetings from Indonesian 🇲🇨
I’m glad you enjoyed some of our hidden gems of fishing in Kansas!
Wull there are about 1 lakes in Kansas . And if the Genouses put Hybrid Stripes, then the wipers wiped out any native fish , guaranteed.
@@jimmyfumbanks6081ots of lakes in Kansas, and they are generally well managed for fishing.
I had a blast on the water! Great video!
Mate whats the set up called you were using to fillet your fish? Battery operated filleting knife? Would love one of those in lil ol NZ :)
@@philippamcdermott3976 that's was the Bubba lithium knife. I actually prefer the bps lithium knife after 3 of the bubbas broke in 2 years

One of my favorite days of fishing in 2022 was for wipers at a hydroelectric dam wading out in the water.
I like his video because it's just like my video. Thank you for watching my video 🙏🙏🙏
We have the Wiper Bass in Fl. too. They are also called Sunshine Bass. They are a blast to catch.
As soon as I saw Christian's beard, I knew he knew what he was doing.
Great episode. Will you be in Massachusetts this year?

Another Awesome video
You should come up to the PNW and get on some king salmon, coho, and steelhead. I think you would love it.

Solid ideas! Thanks!
Happy New Years Roberts Bless up.
I have been eating bream eggs and bass eggs since I was a kid. They pop in the grease. Be careful. But with some salt and pepper. They are really 👍
So nice
WHAT a day!! Darnit now i have to add Wiper to the list of target species this year 😂
The wipers I catch in OK usually bite best at sunrise or when the dams start generating.
A lot of roe is salt cured and dried before using small amounts to add flavor and salt to pasta or rice.
Christian is da man!
Great footage, wipers look like an awesome fight
Looks like a blast!!! What kind of live bait did you use? Perch or goldfish? Thank you!!!! :) Keep up the awesome videos
Let's go. Happy New Year Robert!
Try squeeze some fresh lemon on that eggsack down here in Costa Rica we made a kind of fish taco using fat snook eggsacks and they are pretty good
I would be curious whether saltwater white perch are any different tasting than freshies. We like the saltwater white perch here in Delaware 😋

Check out "the outdoor chef" Taku recently smoked fish row. The skin is hard and after cooking usually get gummy texture!

"It's shaping up to be pretty perfect conditions" this is kansas, your lucky mother nature didn't randomly decide to send a tornado at you 😭
We break open the egg sacks and scramble with eggs. Very tasty. Don’t eat the sack just eat the eggs.
In a place with so few fish that a is a cross between a perch and a bass is their biggest strongest fish?
Yep. Probably in the lowest 40 states
🤙🏼🎣
I believe the red on the fillet is fat and it has a strong fishy taste, definitely cut it out of any fish you catch...
You make me laugh. And Jennifer is hotter than donut grease.
First 👍
LOL, you said you was bragging on my girlfriend and you got hit. If you didn’t brag on your girlfriend, you was going to get hit too!
Fry too long
How does this only have 2 comments in almost a half hour man! First thing I can say, STOKED this is almost an hour long lol!!
