    Totally agree, great video. I own the USP in .40, .45 compact and 9 mm compact. Also have the HK45 and HK45 compact. The full size .40 is definitely my favorite. It'll eat any kind of ammo I throw at it without one hiccup. Just installed the Grayguns short reset kit on the .40 and the HK45. The kit shortens the reset travel distance by about one-third, reduces trigger over-travel and reduces pull weight while maintaining all factory safety functions. It's pretty sweet and I highly recommend.

    I have a VP40 and it's amazing, but I want a USP 40, or a P2000 in a 40 S&W. I prefer the safety of heavy hammer fired triggers than light striker fired triggers. I have a little experience with the P2000 LEM in a 40. I hated it a first, but on the third trip to the gun range I felt pretty confident hitting small targets at about 10 yards.

  • @brianhess881
    @brianhess881 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought a USP 40 when they first came out. So mine did not have the encapsulated spring or polygonal rifling. I still thought it was a great pistol. I had been carrying a Glock 23 and the USP was an upgrade. That recoil reduction made it worth it alone. It really made a difference.

  • @GLOCKCOPG23
    @GLOCKCOPG23 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Fact check: Standard 9mm and 40 have the SAME EXACT INTERNAL CASE PRESSURE (Approx 36,000 psi). People keep regurgitating that the 40 is higher pressure than 9mm. It is NOT! 9mm +P drives pressures up way beyond 40. Period. Do the research.

      That explains a lot why HK leaves that extra bit of metal in the slide on the P8A1. The Bundeswehr was getting premature wear on these "stronger" 40 cal pistols with +P 9mm

    • @kurt31451
      @kurt31451 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Does this mean that 9 mm +P has more recoil than a 40? Which 9 mm handguns do you think would have the least amount of recoil? I am looking to buy a 9 mm and a 40. Thanks.

    • @GLOCKCOPG23
      @GLOCKCOPG23 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@kurt31451 9mm +P ammo has recoil very similar to 40. The lightest recoiling pistols I have ever used are all steel frame Sig, CZ, S&W, 1911 pattern, and H&K USP (polymer frame). Of course the lightest and easiest to carry are polymer framed. You can split the difference and get something like alloy frame Sigs (P228, P229, P226), Beretta, or CZ and be very happy. But in reality, even in polymer frames, 40 is not a recoil beast by any means. The 40 being “hard to control” is simply internet nonsense and it has been proven time and time again with shooters using timers through shot strings. Happy shopping my friend.

    I have seen damaged frames and slides on P8s when i was in the german military. Supposedly the reason for this was that they were shot a lot and that +P or +P+ ammo was used although they were not rated for this.
    From what i have heard this problems should have been changed but im not sure about that.
    I hated to fire them in DA.

    • @doitriteak
      @doitriteak  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The system was designed to be insensitive to that type of ammo. Only thing I can think of is that the secondary spring was never replaced which would end up straining the frame some. The military has a way of destroying things from lack of maintenance. The DA on the USP is way better than many others IMO. It is not for people who dont know how to shoot though.

      Jeffrey Morgan The USP 40 is not a regular 40. The reason you don’t like 40’s is because they are ALL basically 9’s with a few interchangeable parts. The USP 40 is a real 40 cal from head to toe, you will never find another 40 like it because it’s actually built on platform that was designed for it, instead of just cramming shit together because they fit.

I will take it to the range to learn it and get used to it but I will not shoot it for the sake of getting my money's worth. I have other guns that I enjoy shooting with. All my guns will be passed on to my son and daughter when I'm gone and I want them to be as pretty as possible for them to enjoy as well. I purchased a 2019 new USP 45ACP about 6 months ago. I started using remanufactured ammo and had several failure to feed issues. I suspected the cause was remanufactured ammo. Now I am running new CCI/Blazer ammo and I had one failure to feed last week. I wonder if the recoil spring is the issue? I have been very careful when I take the gun down and then put the recoil spring back in to make sure it goes in exactly as it supposed to. It seems like from your comments that the recoil spring may not be robust enough for the 45ACP round? Comments?

      cliffleath I have a 2020 USP 45 with a date Code of CA.. The recoil springs are heavier actually in our 45 pistol they are extremely robust they only can go in one way make sure you are inserting it the proper way so it can lock into the barrel lugs properly, if it is misaligned in any way you will have those problems Also I don’t know how many rounds you have through your USP but it may take a while for the recoil spring to break in. & keep it oiled as well. Especially the rear of the recoil spring where it compresses to prevent frame damage! If you have any more troubles or problems I can send you my email and show you pictures of mine and how it’s supposed to properly go in and lock into the barrel lugs

      All are complaints I hear from the less experienced. Not a bad thing, but true. Complaining about the price of a better gun is like complaining about the price of a two story house and a yard shed. And the polymer trigger has no real flex that you will ever feel. It is in your mind.

      @@doitriteak I don't consider myself an experienced or expert I just love fire arms ever since I remember, that's the very reason I own this very fire arm, I love it it's a keeper for sure but I just don't believe it's worth the price in my humble opinion! I have the usp9 and there's slightly flex on my trigger. And I do love it I just wrote the 3 things I don't like but I have way more things that I do like about it

    Stopped watching when you shit on the vp9.
    Pretty good video, overall! You got a little muddy in your descriptions of certain things, but good info! The Recoil Spring Assembly usually blows right by most people. They think it's just a dual spring.

    I wouldn't mind if they changed the rail . But not the grip .

    • @doitriteak
      @doitriteak  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they could do both. Polymer to thin steel mag body and thinner grip with the same texture. Then get on it with a picatinny tail. Seriously needed to stay current.

      @@doitriteak I have a USP9c which has the smaller grip profile because it uses steel mags. Yes, it is more ergonomic for those of us with small hands, especially when shooting one-handed and/or drawing from concealment one-handed. However, on the full size, my finger contacts the trigger on that perfect pad. The larger grip-profile makes sense and is just as comfortable to hold and shoot with its increased reciprocating mass (IMHO). Still awesome vid - saved to favorites!

      Well these pistols were released in 93 and 95, picatinny trails weren't really a thing then.

    40 S&W isnt high pressure. The saami spec is 35,000psi like the standard 9mm. Actually 9mm +p has higher pressure with 38,000 and +p+ even 42,000psi.

    I think if they were to add a Picatinny rail it would be wonderful but I understand they might want to keep it original and then states they restrict or have a gun roster list if they modify you cannot sell there at all even if you add a Picatinny rail which has nothing to do with safety real retard so either they sell or they don’t sell

    Geez that was hard to watch and I watched it all the way through basicly.
    I've been shooting HK's for 30 years and what you might not know is that everytime you used Basicly it means your unsure if your correct in what your stating. When you demonstrated your recoil spring I can tell it's worn out if you don't replace it you will have premature wear. Oh and muzzle flip will keep you from staying on the target. Then you say that the 9mm is pooky? What the hell is pooky?
    You do know that 9mm is used by many militaries around the world. 40 is really a failed round yes it made it longer than 41AE but it's going away.
    Then you talk about the metal and the finish. Ya really need to learn more about the gun before you make videos about them.
    The finish is a proprietary extreme conditions finish the steel for the gun is cannon grade steel.
    Glad your jazzed about your gun.
    Just do some home work.
    Hopefully in the 2 years since you made this you have learned some more about them. Oh and I know plenty of people who like HK buy HK and don't go the the range weekly smh
