It's incredible how such an incredibly simple game (the Commodore VIC-20 version) made us kids in the 80s dream about flying a plane. The magic consisted on a very basic screen showing some parameters AND, very important: the MAP that came included in the game, so based on the N and W coordinates shown on the screen we could locate where in the map we were flying based on pure imagination!
In real life the pilot can turn on the runway lights of most closed airports from the plane by keying up the mic a specific number of times within a certain amount of time. Like 7 times within 5 seconds or something like that.

I fly to Packwood often. Odd that it's closed on the sim. I just checked the Notams to make sure I'm not missing anything but it is certainly not closed. It's a challenging airport. The sim does not include the tall pine tree on short final for 19. Quick jog around it at low speed and low altitude, then check for pine needles in your gear after landing.
I wish they would just make a non-simulator “God mode” app that we could just zoom around and see the world. Sort of like Google Earth, but a 3-D simulation.

09:21? Oughtn't it be daylight, even midway between N46-N47 parallels, or am I jumping to conclusions? I tried recreating it in 2020, and checked that there's still 8.5 hours of daylight at the Winter solstice, and this looks like it's a lot earlier (even if it was heavily overcast).
The problem with all MSFS games. It doesn't have the right feeling. The most realistic feeling I ever had in a flight sim was in IL2 Battle of Stalingrad.
