    What you say about getting in and out of the cab is correct, that's what I like about my T600 , nice wide steps. Less opportunity for slipping and these days I don't bounce off the ground well at all.
    Keep smiling Rod

      Got that right John. If I land on my stomach will bounce quite high.
      Want to give the T600 a go, have heard good reports about them.
      Stay safe John

    Keep the vids coming Rod. Iv'e driven Volvos and a UD. The Volvos are more comfortable but I get a better road feel with the UD. Nothing wrong with a Triton, they're a great "bare bones" 4wd. Better with a moderate lift though. Stay safe.

      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cameron. Have not driven the UD or a Mack which is unsusall as their as so many around.
      2" lift would be good, still under warranty, will hold off on that for a bit. And check with the insurance company about how many mods they allow.
      Funny thing is the wife wants the lift and bigger wheels and tyres. And then a divorce where she keeps the car🤔😥

    Gday Rod, am i crazy for wanting to buy a 104 pre egr kenworth? They seem to have less problems than the trucks that have emissions control systems and they dont need ADD BLUE.Your thoughts on this would be fantastic as i want to be an owner driver.Thanks Mate.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not crazy at all, drove one for 5 years, good truck to start with, just my preference, square tanks look better than the round makes it look a bit more modern. Older trucks need more money for maintenance, something to keep in mind.

    Hi rod, love your work. Got my HC 2 weeks ago and going for MC next month, you know any companies that will train you? I’ve only got articulated HR bus experience. In Adelaide. Keep up the good work.

      Hi Owen. Don't know of any off hand. Maybe someone living there might know.
      Find a company that has all types of vehicles. You have experience with buses. Even if you start in a ridged I'm sure they will quickly move you up.

    Hi Rod, first of all I love your videos! It's really interesting and informative! I'm from the Netherlands, my partner is from Australia (VIC). We are gonna start with the partner visa soon. I'm a truck driver over here for over 10 years, I drove all around Europe. I've heard I only need to do an assessment to "convert" my Dutch HC drivers license to an Australian one. And besides that I need to do do a theoretical exam, I've already got the Victorian Bus & Truck drivers handbook. But the assessment is it just a practical test or a full exam? And will it be easy to find work as a truck driver from Europe? I hope you can help me with this!

    • @benjaminbardzinski3666
      @benjaminbardzinski3666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Test relating to what you read in the truck and bus handbook, then a drive. Most companies here don't verify experience from overseas. Who knows you might get lucky. Just apply for jobs that interest you and who knows. Also some companies like it if you have different tickets like dg, msic, etc.

    • @_.A.J._
      @_.A.J._ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminbardzinski3666 thank you so much for your help. Are you familiar with the test? Will that take one day or several days?

    • @benjaminbardzinski3666
      @benjaminbardzinski3666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends you do auto or non synchomesh (road ranger). Auto is 1 day and non synchomesh is 2 days. The test consists of a drive and then slow maneuvers such as reversing and coupling the trailer and prime mover.

    • @_.A.J._
      @_.A.J._ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminbardzinski3666 I'm sorry for the late reply. Thanks to your detailed comment I've found the information online too www.aceassessment.com.au/article4
      I'll go with the non synchro for 2 days, I'm driving only automatic for years now but I've started with an 18 speed. I don't think you'll ever lose the ability to drive non synchro. Most trucks in Australia are still non synchro right?

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi A.J. Most of the larger companies have auto's now, but a good choice to go with non synchro. Do your research as prices can be very different with driving schools.

    hey tod, just wondering those "truck parks" look quite secluded. At the end of the video you mentioned going for a rest, where do you get your toilet breaks or showers? it would seem far to get to one!

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. The Depot I leave the trailers has toilets and shower drivers can use. As well as a lunch room with microwaves and coffee making facilities. You can park in the street outside. Showers and toilets not real clean but useable. Service centre 15 min drive away also.

    What is the cause of all these truck fires ?

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually a wheel bearing fire or electric fault. Does not take too long for the flames to catch the plastic on the trailers
      Or the plastic in the truck
