As far as I know (and I could be wrong) people don't recommend pulling on kernel banners (the one you got beeswax from) for three main reasons: 1- The units are pretty old, Year 1 or 2 of the game for the most part, and have fallen out of the "meta" compared to more modern ones, with a few exceptions of course. 2- Probably the bigger reason is that when you pull on regular banners you get back green and gold certificates which you can use to buy pulls, materials and operators that are in the shop, whereas kernel banner gives you blue certificates that can only be used for a much smaller shop, which forces you into it's own isolated ecosystem. 3- Pity isn't shared between standard banners and kernel banners, they are separate. That said though, when I just started I did pull on kernel banner quite a bit and don't regret it because it gave me some operators I still use to this day like Eyjafjalla, Ceobe and Exusiai, so in the end as long as you're aware of the drawbacks, do what you want to do.

For this reason I think every new player needs to consider how they want to get those operators and there are really only 2 options, pull on the kernel banner but try to use build-a-banners to mitigate the RNG or use yellow certificates to cherry pick the best operators from it. Personally I think the best option is to pull from the banner at first until you've collected some % of the operators that you intend to get then snipe off the last ones using blue/yellow certificates to minimize duplicates. Also, it's good to make a list of who you want from it. I would say 16/23 6* have arguments for getting and building them but only 9 of the 5*. That being said, the use cases for some of them may not apply to you. Mostima for example is not a particularly useful operator in general content but is insanely broken for IS and other high end game modes. That being said, many of the operators are supplementary or niche characters and not a high priority so it can be something that you come back to later. With any luck you will get a few of them through recruitment in that time.

Beeswax is indeed related to Carnelian, ironically Beeswax is better than her sister in most situations yes, you should absolutely use May, she's incredibly versatile and better than many 5 star snipers, her s1 is pretty good already as it is useful on every map and against every enemy, her s2 is so good it feels like she was supposed to be higher rarity than 4 stars, it allows her to do crowd control and deal high damage on a very short skill cycle use your two weekly event unlocks if you haven't yet
Ironically arknights 4 stars are almost all 'consistent' so they fell better than many 5 stars, not because they are actually better, is because 5 stars are experimental. They get weird kits a lot of the time, so the 4 stars that get more normal kits are more consistently good, stuff like jaye myrtle being absolute bests but even people like humus and gummy being perfectly usable
10:27 Levelling up does make better the vast majority of skills. A lot of skills (like Gummy's) directly scale off of the character's stats. Levelling up increases their stats. This will, in turn, make the skill better. In Gummy's case, she heals an amount equal to 130% of her ATK. By increasing her ATK, she heals more.
10:30 Leveling up a character raises their stats (Atk, HP, Def) and most skills scale with attack value, so technically it does make her heal stronger.
14:57 Yeah that's the thing why I consider Arknights to be the best tower-defense game ever, once you've experienced the other side-stories and events you'll encounter a lot of creative mechanics they added in the game.

Quick recruitment tip - if you don't intend to use specific tags, then the next bet is to use no tags at all. This will help keep you from accidentally locking out higher rarity operators with certain tags.
It's not that you "NEED" an aoe character, it's just that since kyo and eckogen are assuming new players want to clear the content and can only borrow 1 support.

Tis what I did to accumulate pulls. Do single pull on every banner until guaranteed, any guaranteed pull under 10 is a *W.* Let the gold certificates stack up and if u have 258 of them, clear the ticket on cert shop. 👍
The recruitment calculators are much simpler than you're making them out to be, you just click on the tags that show up and they'll show you what operators you could potentially get. At the very least, avoid the "Starter" tag and potentially the "Robot" tag, since Starters are the 2* units and Robots are the 1* units.
You should definitely build May, shes a really good low rarity sniper that can deal consistent slow with both skills and can stun pretty reliably with her second skill
I don't see anyone mentioning it, since you picked Blue Poision to be available in shop, if you have 45 yellow certificates you can just buy her directly without needing to gacha for her
Try to get texas the omertosa in support unit she is very flexible just drop her in hordes of enemies. She can kill she can stun, she is a fast redeploy so you can deploy then disengage her multiple times per stage
If you just one the 5* guarantee, it is better if you pull one at time, because if you got in the first one, then the other 9 will be random, and so on.
If you are going for the guarenteed 5 star then do single pulls. It will allow you to get the 5 star while spending on average about 7 pulls. Also Carmelian and Beeswax are sisters.
