- Just your standard bike check. Oh with the added adventure of my Land Rover defender 90 snapping a drive shaft added in fun factor. Thought it would be cool to run you through what I run on my Scott Ransom. This bike is my daily right now. It rips Downhill, enduro and trail this thing is the ultimate all round bike. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if it holds its own at RedBull Rampage haha.

My disco front uj snapped the other Friday night on the way home from a night ride, good job I had my lights with me! Whipped the other 4 bolts out, sticked centre diff in lock and made it to the pub for last orders!

LoL Nothing wrong with older bikes. Have an '08 Ransom, '09 Kona one20, and a '14 Norco Revolver.
They all do the same thing. Granted some handle things better than others LoL

One thing to the setup: you could provide your weight and the sag in percentage, so an ambitioned rider could translate that to his weight.

Future reference, if you remove the prop that's failed, and then put it into diff lock you can drive it in 2 wheel drive. Will get you home and to the garage to sort.

Bren, got a tech question for you: I just bought a Ransom and wanted to upgrade the brakes, but Scott told me that I can't run a 200 mm rotor on the rear. Did you ever have any issues with the 200 mm out back?

Obviously to late now but for future reference, next time you break a prop shaft or uj as in this case take off the prop shaft chuck it in diff lock hi and away you go rear wheel drive. No need for a tow a landy will always get you home 👌🏻

Put the landy in difflock and it will drive in just rear wheel drive with out the front prop shaft and it will drift haha
I’d really like a set of those 38’s for my kenevo. I bet they’d be ace on it!
Try safari engineering in eversley for parts. If you break another prop just remove it with the tools you will now start carrying in the landy and put it in diff lock. Then you can drive it but as a fwd or rwd defender. There is a proper tool for the prop nuts as they’re so close to the uj’s only a few quid and worth having.
Brendan needs to fit a galvanised chassis when he is replacing the drive shaft so he encounters less rust problems

Sounds like a perfect bike for shuttles but climbing 2 miles to the drop in, eh could struggle a wee bit. Weight of bike?

Ah the joys of breaking down in a Land Rover - part of the car's DNA is to be towed ( every single model I have owned has been towed at least once a year!)

That reminds me the good old one - Do you know why Range Rover never started making computers ? Because they couldn't figure out how to make them leak oil.

It's a landrover of course it broke!!
Landies use parts like most cars use fuel. There’s actually surprisingly little oil underneath it.
You could have removed the drive shaft then locked the centre diff and driven it home. I drove my Defender 400km to a workshop after breaking a CV joint and removing the front drive shaft.
Brendogs Land Rover don’t leak oil...it marks its territory!

If you ever need to replace your Land Rover, then consider the British-built Ineos Grenadier as a replacement over the new Defender.
Pop the drive shaft off, shift the center dif-lock and just drive home.

As long as you don't take it to a landrover "stealership" to fix, it won't be that expensive.
