Wow! Big air port means St George will grow extremely fast. It's has the potential of growing like L. A., Vagas and Miami. I hope the people stay nice like small town people and crime doesn't grow. I love the small feel of St. George.
I've got a 466-acre parcel down there just south and east of the airport. It's crazy seeing how that area is going to grow! Love to hear that LAX is back!
The point of flying to LAX is that it’s a huge hub and makes it easier to fly to other places. I doubt there will ever be hundreds of people who want to fly between SGU and Long Beach every day
I was hoping for flights to/from John Wayne Airport (SNA). Ontario and Long Beach airports would also be good options. I remember when John Wayne airport was the size of our airport/terminal.
To every St George local that doesn’t want expansion and keeps whining about it, all I can say is you can’t stop it but you can get involved with the community and volunteer your time and fight at the City level to keep St. George / Washington City a great place to live, raise em up 😃 I ❤️ STG
Yea the cat is out the bag, SG is the 7th fastest growing city in the country last time I checked. I moved to the area 4 years ago and finally bought a house in hurricane. Plan on living here the rest of my life. It's such an awesome place to live and the people are a big reason why.
@fjfjfurjrnfncnnxxn It can't be stopped, covid introduced Zion Nat park to many people in nearby states as it was the only place open during lockdowns in other states. My family is also moving here soon and starting school. The good news is most of us are looking to assimilate to existing Soutern Utah culture and follow the lead of life long locals.
Won't be too much help until the cost of flying out of St George drops to become more competitive with Las Vegas. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this. I guess it's progress, but it also means more air noise with larger and more airplanes, more people coming to St George for more crowded conditions. I just hope the community leaders can stay ahead of these curves to help mitigate some of these negative consequences.
I would love to see lower pricing myself but a regional aiport is always going to be more expensive than an international airport, and i dont think that'll ever change. I realize right now its quite a bit more expensive but the convenience of flying out of here compared to driving to vegas is worth extra for me personally in a lot of cases. Especially if its a direct flight
@macraeheppler Agreed. Though pro tip, you can take the saint george executive shuttle for $50 to Vegas and it has big comfy seats. That's generally what I do when I'm paying or if there's a huge price gap. Sometimes it's not far off price wise and sometimes is astronomical
The new airport location was there first long before they started building homes in the immediate area. Those who buy homes near the airport are CHOOSING to live close to the airport, and therefore will be more affected by the noise. Just like people are choosing to buy those houses being built near Washington Dam Rd right next to the garbage dump. I have been out to those housing developments, and when the wind is blowing in just the right direction the stench is absolutely overwhelming to me. I wouldn't live out there if someone gave me the home for free. The smell is absolutely horrid and permeating. People can choose to live where they please, but they better do some basic research first before buying.
Spirit and Breeze do direct flights from Richmond Va to Vegas. Spirit Cost four of us, including luggage $1050 on spirit. Round trip. Breeze was around $1800 but had less days available for flights. Wish we could fly to St. George. Much closer to the parks.
@macraeheppler I go to OC a ton so I'd like that as well. Main office for work is in SD and in laws are there as well. Maybe I'll get lucky down the line with Sad.
for the most part. there are a couple parts that aren't as clean as others but all that means is a couple run down trailer parks, trashy fields, or the low income housing areas but even those are cleaner than a lot of other places.
Great reporting. It would be interesting to know the back stories of those in favor/against the expansion. Obviously, locals want to keep things small, and out-of-towners want to escape communist California. -- But is there more to the story? ---
I'm a local and I don't see a way of keeping things small at this point. The reality is St. George is on the map as one of the best places to live and the world, and we have to accommodate for that or we'll have worse affordability issues for those wanting to grow up and stay here, or move back here. That goes for the airport, road infrastructure, housing, etc

As an RADAR ATC that works SGU airport, i'm glad they're finally building a tower here.
Crushing these updates. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for the update… as always.

Needs flights to John Wayne, Long Beach or Ontario Airports. LAX is a terrible commute to most locations in Southern California.
Burbank-they need to fly to Bob Hope/Burbank Airport! 😊
Yes burbank! I avoid LAX like the plague and always fly to burbank but I guess it's better than nothing.
Definitely Ontario!
John Wayne is at the top of my wish list for sure

Really wish they would open the old airport back up for private pilots since this will basically be commercial only
Why aren't there flights to Vegas from SGU?
I was hoping for flights to/from John Wayne Airport (SNA). Ontario and Long Beach airports would also be good options.
I remember when John Wayne airport was the size of our airport/terminal.
John Wayne is my favorite airport in the country. Thats the top of my wish list!

Why can’t we stop it? Are we obligated to accommodate everyone on earth who wants to move here?

Moved here a few years ago. I hear you for sure, but I need that LA flight for work. My company does complain sometimes about the cost vs vegas

And THAT is why we have ELECTIONS!

Really hoping Breeze comes here!
@@macraeheppler I agree. I’ve never flown spirit. Not excited to do so. Coming to Utah for a doctor appt. Haha
Thanks goodness, direct to LAX 😁
What's up with that road out to Washington Fields? They ever plan on opening it?
Yes it'll open once ARA starts to take off but it isn't needed for public use at this point. I mentioned it in my prior video
I would love a direct flight to Chicago!
Private jets allowed to fly in ??
Yes
Any rumors on what other locations the airport may serve in the future?
San Francisco/Sacramento, San Diego and Seattle would be great additions!
@@dustybateman5376big agree
We need san diego and burbank flights! Lax is a nightmare but at least i wont have to go to SLC for LA trips
John Wayne in orange county is what i'm hoping for
@macraeheppler I go to OC a ton so I'd like that as well. Main office for work is in SD and in laws are there as well. Maybe I'll get lucky down the line with Sad.
@@pcp2522 I'd love San Diego too. Would be awesome
Skywest is gauging people, they need some competition really bad.
Clean looking community is all of St. George like this?
No
Definitely not.
One of the cleanest places i've ever been in
