GX cards are amazing for fun casual decks, nothing better than you or your opponent activating a card an having no idea what it does and have to read it, so much fun with convoluted combos and strats , the card effects from GX literally scream anime style duel

Ever wonder why Konami made a garbage card like Gobllin out of the Frying Pan? Well there's actually an official explanation! In strategy insert of the Dinosaur's Rage Structure Deck, Konami advises that you use Goblin Out of the Frying Pan against a spell card that has a cost, that way your opponent has to pay the cost a second time. No seriously, THAT was what they were thinking.
Doomdozer and Demise had a good combo deck back in the day. This happened when Advanced Ritual Art came out. You would use ARA to send two normal insects to the grave to summon Demise. You nuke the board, then summon Doomdozer to hit for big damage. Also if you used Metamorphosis on the 'Dozer you could get Cyber Twin Dragon and swing for game when that spell was legal.
Beardinator has 1212 ATK and 1212 DEF and is a Level 8 Beast, EARTH Attribute, with an Effect that allows it to be Special Summoned from your hand if you control a Normal Monster. Once per turn, when your opponent activates a card or effect, you can negate the effect and return that card to their hand.
Apparently the ruling for Anteatereatingant is that it's essentially a soft once per turn. You get to pop a backrow at the cost of its attack, which it, of course, only gets one of per turn, unless it's resummoned. So, in problem solving card test language, it'd probably be closer to... 'Once per turn, you can destroy one spell or trap card on your opponents side of the field, this card cannot attack on a turn you've used this effect" This isn't nearly as good, because otherwise, that card would actually be kinda insane in certain circumstances.
More specifically it was limited because previously, at 3, you could guarantee getting it off of Power Tool Dragon, and so it was part of the Harpie Dancer FTK th-cam.com/video/3telvHxkifg/w-d-xo.html
I'm sure the comment has been made already but Demise should have been given way more praise/enthusiasm considering Demise OTK was the meta at the time and lasted a good while. Was pretty painful hearing you say cards weren't good until Treeborn. Doom Dozer saw fringe play as well.
Out of all the sets Dave has covered so far we've had like 2 that didn't have cards on the ban list. That says a lot about how broken this game was in the early days.

As far as a bunch of extra deck monsters, could have been for old school heroes or something, with heroes having a lot of (get these two or three specific cards) i think people would want thier bases covered no matter what heroes they happened to draw. Or if you built a dragon deck i guess, normally theres no reason not to have all the dragon fusions you could.

Heritage could probably come back to 3 as Konami did fairly well in getting rid of generic self-bouncing effects, and it would still be useful in casual plant decks.
For the dishonourable mention, I can think of one other thing, spells they activate during YOUR turn. Quick spells and real, but I don’t know enough about the meta at the time to know if setting quick spells is a thing
Anteatereatingant can only be activated once per turn, because it's been ruled that since it could only give up its potential to attack once, it can only be activated once.
Demise OTK was pretty good back then. Use Advanced ritual art for Demise, send Insect Knights, use Demise to nuke, banish knights for Doom Dozer, summon more monsters if possible, then swing for a lot of damage that flex tape can't even fix. Even if you don't OTK, you're constantly putting pressure on your opponent with beaters and staple cards until you can set up a strong mid game push.
Anteatereatingant actually has seen modern play during MR3. It was combined with resonance insect because that card searches it on destruction and anteater set up the extra deck with its summoning condition and blew up the metalfoe back row to trigger their floats. I am not making this up
Anteatereatingant got an errata apparently that makes it a soft once per turn, but flipping it facedown then back up would reset its effect as expected, so im guessing theres a way to exploit its effect.
Actually, if a hard once per turn card has it's activation negated, it doesn't count as if it had activated in the first place, meaning you can activate that card again, if you have acess to it. So, even in the scenario of negating a hard once per turn spell, "Goblin Out Of The Frying Pan" is still worthless.

If you can get two Goblin's set. and activate both, negating the Pot twice(first negate bounces it back, then they play it again, just to get Goblin'd), causing them to Banish 20 cards, and need to Banish another 10 to get off one Desires.
It depends on whether the card's HOPT restriction states "Activate" or "use". If it says activate, then you're right, but if it says "use", then you can only legally attempt activate it once per turn no matter what part of it was negated.
Dark Bribe got respect at YCS columbus. I got to admit, although it is subpar, there’s not too many viable alternatives (RIP solemn judgment at 1) and it has put in a lot of work for me in decks that die to reboot, twin twoster, evenly and all that stuff.

For Memory Crusher. Ha, ha... I just had all my fusions in a folder I took with me for trades and what not and I just said this is my fusion deck because eh why not I thought. Then I got hit by that card once. I do believe he one shoted me for that.
How is the Dishonorable Mention not Neo Bubbleman? Go -2, giving up a mediocre main-deck monster and an amazing Forbidden fusion cheese card, and what do you get? Heraldic Beast Basilisk with 200 less ATK and DEF. Amazing. Anime-first card design at its finest.
Goblin Out of the Frying Pan would've been nicer if it said they can't play that card for the rest of the turn. That wouldn't have made it amazing or anything, but it would at least be better than it is now.
Is Demise's Life Point a part of the effect or a cost, the one in the video makes me think it's a part of the effect, in which case wouldn't something that prevents life point damage be really good with it?

There are *two* other edge case for Goblin Out of the Frying pan: Set quick play spells, or chain-based quick-play spells. If your opponent activates Chain Strike, Goblin works pretty well...or if your opponent activates ECon, this is a really good answer...as they trib their monster for nothing. Basically, set quick-plays being activated on your turn are a good tempo play for this card. That said...it's still a bad card...but one of the worst ever, I disagree...it's way better than Duality, Larvae Moth, or Armityle.
It's unfortunate, but Judgement Dragon kiiinda power crept Demise... at least until stuff like Devirituals which makes Demise easier to summon than JD.
Hamon is definitely better than Uria simply because there are a ton of cards that get him out easy. He was the real boss monster for CBs (fuck rainbow dragon), and his effects are fine for the time with a body so big. I would argue that Hamon is the best of all "god" cards that you actually summon to your own field because he's the right balance of being relatively easy to summon, and being capable of doing real damage. His lack of protection was later somewhat remedied by the field spell...and though Obelisk has some built-in protection, good luck actually getting him out without bankrupting yourself in the process.

I would argue Hamon was the best of the Sacred Beasts. It was the unofficial boss monster of Crystal Beasts. In context of the set, yeah Uria was the best but in the scope of all Yugioh, the Lord of Striking Thunder is the best of the 3.
In the past Hamon was the best until Dark Contracts. Uria could easily get rid of the Dark Contracts and skip that 1000 burn damage for each. I mean it's still wasn't that good but skipping Burn damage was cool and beef up a monster. Anyways Hamon was basically made for Crystal Beast. The boss monster that they actually needed. Yeah Rainbow Dragon was great and all but Hamon was that main card you have to run in Crystal Beasts. Having a ok combo with Mound, Crystal Beast, with Hamon is great and all dealing 6000 damage if you're lucky, it still needs set up like Uria does. Still I'll go for Hamon cause of me being a Crystal Beast fan.
Hamon was always bad for crystal beast and you should feel bad for playing it. You might as well play the other 4000 monster with no protection that makes you play 4 bad crystal beast monsters.
Uria is the only one that saw experimentation every now and then. I've seen a couple decks over the years that tried to stall with perma traps until they could summon Uria. It was never that great, but it's more than any of the other ones ever accomplished.

Is Demise's Life Point a part of the effect or a cost, the one in the video makes me think it's a part of the effect, in which case wouldn't something that prevents life point damage be really good with it?
It's a cost to it's effect, but that effect it's not once per turn

Memory Crusher would be a LOT better if it actually allowed you to see your opponent's Extra Deck...... just think of the shenanigans that can be unleashed with that info lol 😂😂😂
There are *two* other edge case for Goblin Out of the Frying pan: Set quick play spells, or chain-based quick-play spells. If your opponent activates Chain Strike, Goblin works pretty well...or if your opponent activates ECon, this is a really good answer...as they trib their monster for nothing. Basically, set quick-plays being activated on your turn are a good tempo play for this card. That said...it's still a bad card...but one of the worst ever, I disagree...it's way better than Duality, Larvae Moth, or Armityle.

It's unfortunate, but Judgement Dragon kiiinda power crept Demise... at least until stuff like Devirituals which makes Demise easier to summon than JD.
Hamon is definitely better than Uria simply because there are a ton of cards that get him out easy. He was the real boss monster for CBs (fuck rainbow dragon), and his effects are fine for the time with a body so big. I would argue that Hamon is the best of all "god" cards that you actually summon to your own field because he's the right balance of being relatively easy to summon, and being capable of doing real damage. His lack of protection was later somewhat remedied by the field spell...and though Obelisk has some built-in protection, good luck actually getting him out without bankrupting yourself in the process.
Demise doom dozer otk was a thing. I think it got advanced ritual art limited no joke.
It did, but Adavanced Ritual Art didn't come out until a couple sets later.

I would argue Hamon was the best of the Sacred Beasts. It was the unofficial boss monster of Crystal Beasts. In context of the set, yeah Uria was the best but in the scope of all Yugioh, the Lord of Striking Thunder is the best of the 3.
In the past Hamon was the best until Dark Contracts. Uria could easily get rid of the Dark Contracts and skip that 1000 burn damage for each. I mean it's still wasn't that good but skipping Burn damage was cool and beef up a monster. Anyways Hamon was basically made for Crystal Beast. The boss monster that they actually needed. Yeah Rainbow Dragon was great and all but Hamon was that main card you have to run in Crystal Beasts. Having a ok combo with Mound, Crystal Beast, with Hamon is great and all dealing 6000 damage if you're lucky, it still needs set up like Uria does. Still I'll go for Hamon cause of me being a Crystal Beast fan.
Hamon was always bad for crystal beast and you should feel bad for playing it. You might as well play the other 4000 monster with no protection that makes you play 4 bad crystal beast monsters.
Uria is the only one that saw experimentation every now and then. I've seen a couple decks over the years that tried to stall with perma traps until they could summon Uria. It was never that great, but it's more than any of the other ones ever accomplished.
