So I’m new to “good” whiskey and I’m super impatient. I watched the”neat” documentary about bourbon and was very interested in bourbon. Started with bulleit, drank some four roses, wild turkey 101, makers 46, all of the decently priced bourbons. Skipped Irish,(had Jameson in the past and like it), but recently tried 1 scotch and I went with the Glenfiddich 12 and liked it. I’ve been so interested in the idea of smoky scotches, I just said screw it and got Ardbeg 10. I am trying it right now and I have to say that I really do like it. I think I hyped myself up a lot and made myself like it, it really is interesting and complex and I am glad I tried it. Thank you.
I am glad somebody enjoys smokey. I had one Isle and it is definitely not for me. As for Irish whiskey, believe it or not Proper 12 is actually an extremely good whiskey. I recommend it
Long time watcher, first time commenting. Very neat video. I love this nice format where you break things down in categories and do the "if you like/recognize this, try this" and often the up cost is minimal. Very interesting and helpful. Do keep up the excellent work. Peace and happy holidays.
That was a fascinating list of suggestions, Bill. I couldn't have agreed more with all of your suggested upgrades. You deliver lots of whisky knowledge with no pretense. Gotta trust a guy in a Santa hat and with a big DIC on his shirt. Cheers and Merry Christmas 🥃🎅
thanks brother....no nonsense, to the point vid...good stuff....Merry Christmas whiskey/whisky brothers and sisters...best wishes from Ireland......peace
What a really good vblog "plain speaking and clear understanding I do admire a man with character lets drink to it" apologies for the misquotes! Great advice
your list is excellent ! wild turkey 101 is always in rotation in my home bar i have 2 bottles on hand , a lot of bang for the buck and at a decent proof
I agree with the Gentleman Jack recommendation! It’a not too expensive and tastes good! I don’t care for the Old No 7 at all, but something about that 2nd filtration makes the GJ really tasty!
After watching this video (which prompted me to watch in depth video of Glenmorangie Cake) I purchased a bottle of it to give as a gift. I’m thinking of waiting a year, though. I enjoy Glenmorangie Signet (purchased 230$ Dec 2019, currently 320$ Las Vegas) if Cake is truly a limited edition my 105$ gift today may be a 200$+ gift for next Christmas. Thanks for the video. My purchase today was 100% based on your video.
A lot of thoughtful comments that highlight the standards of your viewers, Bill. A great compliment to a wonderful video. All I could add would be to suggest wrapping it in A Whiskey Dic t-shirt to promote your channel. Late, I know but maybe next year.😉
enjoyed the vid.....right now I'm drinking and enjoying Buffalo Trace (hidden on the shelf at my local Total Wine) and Dingle Irish Batch 4 and plan to try an Indian whiskey next year

As always great video Bill. Very crisp. Can you please suggest an easy to drink (very) smooth bourbon with low proof yet some character in $25-50 range. Also, Black label or Money shoulder if looking for something very easy to drink? Thanks a ton!! Merry Christmas!!
A Tale of Cake was very limited and now it's almost completely gone. Shame I didn't get to try it. And Tokaji Azsu Hungarian wine cask finish whiskey is in general a very scarce and expensive product.
Great video, but kind of disappointed you forgot the Black Velvet and Proper 12. Gotta include some bottles for the inlaws and to keep people on their toes, lol.
i just started drinking whiskey a month ago. I've already tried jameson casckmates, Suntory Whisky Toki, which i really like, Pendleton 1910 canadian, and Proper number twelve which is my favorite so far. I was thinking of getting The Dead Rabbit, but its hard to catch out here in n.Texas. was wondering has anyone had it before? and or how does it taste.
Awesome job, Bill. I got into whiskey because of you and Horst over at whisky.com. Anyways, how does the RB Lustau compare to the RB Cask CS, as an upgrade?
For, beginners, a low-end gift I would go with: JD Master Distiller Series no.5, or Jameson Cask-mates. Mid range consumer: Glenfiddich blue label 14 year, or Redbreast 15 year. Higher level: Glenfiddich 18 year reserve, Michter's American Whiskey, or Aberfeldy 16 year. Even higher consumer level gift: 21 Glenlivet, or 43 year Canadian Club. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! 🎄🎁☃️🎅
Excellent video as always, I really enjoy them all. My question is... I’m at a liquor store right now and Im buying a gift for Glenfiddich 12 drinker. What do you think about about the 14 year old?
Just found a Glenfiddach 15 Solera reserve for 75. Not sure if that was a good price or not but I know he loves Glenfiddach. It was that or a Glenfiddach 12 hopefully I chose right! Find out tomorrow lol.
It's funny. My one friend of mine who is also into whiskey and myself absolutely can't stand Angel's Envy. Neither of us can understand why it's so popular. It's just not very good. If you want a port finished bourbon, Woodinville is where it's at imo.
What would you recommend for a Irish whiskey fan that prefers pot still whiskey. He loves the Redbreast and Teeling pot stills. I considered buying him the Powers 12 John's Lane (but can't find locally after calling around). Any other pot stills types under $100? Thanks and I'm taking your advice and buying Jameson Black Barrel for another friend. Cheers!
My brother has been working in the distribution service for quite some time, so I know that he has tried many a Whiskey. I recall him enjoying Laphroig quite a bit when he was just starting out, but I am unsure where he's at now. What's something special that you would recommend?
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Just following up, I couldn't find the Laphroaig Lore, but I did get my hands on the Caol Ila and it went over very well. I'm not a big Islay fan myself, but past the fresh bandaids nose, it was a beautiful campfire taste with some floral and fruity notes that makes me want to try more. Thank you very much for the recommendation, my brother loved it. Taking a peek at your Auchentoshan 12 year video, I would recommend giving their Bartender's Malt expression a try if you can get your hand on it.

Indian WHISKEY??? Does it have a hint of Curry? When there is Scotland, why would anyone buy that? It's like running out of American, German, Japanese made cars and driving a Chinese Car! Cheers!
Only one request Bill...and that’s to have a very merry Christmas, wish you and your fam the best. Thanks for all the great videos man.
