    Hey bro, I love your knife reviews. I have watched so many of your reviews and I really respect your opinions, expertise, and sense of humor. Good review on this Gerber MP600. I usually use my Leatherman because I feel it is better quality, but I moved from USA to Singapore about 3 years ago, and they have EXTREMELY STRICT knife laws (and most laws in general) along with astonishingly harsh punishments for breaking said laws, so I cannot carry anything outside my house with a blade 😕. Therefore, I asked my wife for the Gerber MP600 BLADELESS version for my upcoming birthday. That's why I'm doing some research on this tool that has already been out for so many years! Thanks for all your content, Steve Bates

    I m a maintenance worker in the local school district and a Scout leader, I've been using mine at work, camping, pretty much always have it with me for at least ten years now. I agree, the lanyard is useless. I would love to switch it out for something else. I did chip the smallest flathead but I don't use it very often. Instead of sending it back in, I ground it down into an awl. It's much more useful to me than the little screwdriver. This is a great tool.

    I love the MP600!! It's such an awesome tool. I also carry with me a bit extender from a cheap multi-tool and it fits on the Phillips perfectly and now I can use ANY bit, as long as I have it with me. This multi-tool is a classic. I have a few Leathermans as well, but the MP600 was the first Multi-tool I ever owned so there's some sentimental value of my MP600. It rattles but it's such a solid tool and I never had problems with it. I have the Super Tool 300 and I carry both, one as my backup. Sometimes I come across taking a nut of a bolt and I need another set of pliers to hold the nut in place while I take off the bolt. Both of these tools are my favorite multi-tools. The white on yours looks so awsome!! I think I will do it to mine, I just love how that looks. Great job!!

    I have a collection of Leatherman tools in a draw, but my mp 600 is my edc and rides on my person. All time favorite. Durable and reliable.

    Won't use anything BUT an MP600, EDC. The way it opens is the best feature. Pull from sheath with one hand and a quick flick of the wrist and you have the pliers handy.

    I have the Gerber MP600 and a Leatherman Charge TTi titanium S30V, I love them both and feel both are good tools. I don’t mind beating the hell out of the Gerber vs the Charge but the prices are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. For the price of the Gerber $33 from Home Depot it’s a no brainer.

    I like the idea of using an oil pastel to fill in the marking. It would definitely make things easier to see.

    I like the white coloring idea for the ruler! I never would have thought of that! And i agree with the pliers, gerber tools seem to get the main tools right, but then fall short on the extras. The gerber flik's can opener is utterly useless, but has pretty good main tools. Great vid!

      +Cyclone Outdoors Yeah I had a Flik a while back - it was pretty solid set of pliers (apart from a couple snafus when closing them) a good blade and scissor combo, but the little drivers and such were a bit of a joke! I'm trying to source an MP1, but they are solo damn expensive. More than Leatherman Charge AL's on eBay. Obviously not retailed in Australia yet, I guess, so the markup is from postage etc.

    I really haven't found a perfect multi-tool, but for me the Gerber is the closest. Depends on what you use it for. I use the pliers the most and the Gerber is the handiest. My off work edc for about 20yrs has been the stainless Gerber 600 with the Remgrit saw (which isn't that useful). I also have this model in stainless that I have had for about 5 yrs that I use quite a bit. The tool in my edc work bag is a Leatherman Wave, which is also a good (but over priced) tool. I work in a medical facility and can't carry one on my belt at work.

    I love the MP600 and it's early design. I have it with the bit set in the US made sheath, as well as a Leatherman Wave + with it's extras, and the Gerber Centerdrive and bits. The Centerdrive is the best I guess, but I carry the MP600 most. Wave + is great too- don't think it's not. I paid $15 new for it.

    The US military has used an estimated 2-3 million mp600 multitools. They're fine.

    Do you buy your leathermans here or from overseas? If from overseas where from? If you don't mind me asking. Thinking of getting the rebar. Good vid by the way. It's nice to listen to an Aussie. Take care. Craig

    usually from ebay seller 'discount trader'. even on ebay the price of leatherman tools is usually abuthigher than id like, but nowhere near the fleecing you get at retail

    Use that not so great philips head with the bit set that you an buy for it and it's much nicer. I've used this tool for work instead of grabbing my tool box and it worked so well.

    Kinda funny how whenever I research stuff your reviews always seem to come up.
    The prices have reversed since you posted this, I can get the Gerber for $35 USD and the Rebar is double that now. I was looking for something to throw in the car (and probably never have to use), you think the Gerber is OK for that? I don't wanna spend too much because it's for emergencies and will probably never going to come out of the glove compartment. The other option is the Leatherman Rev.

      +subroc this is better than the wingman/rev series for sure. For a seldom used but solid car tool? Absolutely fine :)

    I like the #Leatherman Rebar, got one in coyote brown off #Amazon, run it in a coyote brown kydex clip & carry sheath. Picked up a #Gerber MP600 off of #Ebay for $40.00 USD, got a kydex sheath on the way for it. Both tools are good. No awl or saw on the Gerber but that wharncliff blade will ream a good whole through material & the serrated blade will saw good enough. Both handy tools.

    I personally believe that the gerber would make a good self-defense improvised kubatan, seeing as the pliers stick out a bit...you don't get that with a leatherman!

    I need all 3 of them damn flathead bits love that about it but the lanyard hole is kind of a waste for me. I was in the national guard and it just is feels natural to use the Gerber. my friend has a leatherman wave I like it but not enough to replace my Gerber.

    How is this for rusting? WOuld it start to rust in the pocket? I have some black oxide coated handcuffs and they rust even with the slightest moisture, I can only imagine what would happen if I carried them in my pocket. How does this multitool hold up?

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Silent but Descriptive it does rust on the tools if you leave them alone for a while . that finish is no good. the frame is fine though

      What would you recommend to protect the tools? Just oil?

    • @wh0tube
      @wh0tube ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s black oxide over stainless. Theoretically shouldn’t rust any more than plain stainless steel (not sure what grade is used here). The black oxide just wears off over time letting the stainless shine through.

    Just got a Chinese knock off of this for about 15 GBP, due to UK laws about locking knives the lock would need removing to make it carry legal. For a copy it's a good one. In the toolbox it goes..❤️😊

    The only attractive thing about this multi-tool is the price. Despite the low quality, they fly off my shelf every time I get them in.
