Who else remembers The Drive Thru movies??? I remember all the guys trying to keep this place a secret. Those were some of my favorite surf videos. Japan and Panama were the best.
There was also on surfari which aired on fueltv. Def one of my favourite shows. I remember the host was there same time as the drive thru guys, and he said he knew it wouldnt be so unknown anymore since he saw the drive thru guys out there
I like your full breakdown of costs and options for us regular people, and I can tell you're a very pleasant person to be around. Many blessings brotha 🙏🤙🙏
Good video dude👌 the Carribbean is actually an ultra consistent surf area in general. I live in Jamaica and we are blessed with consistent waves throughout the year, September/October are the two months where it can often be flat unless a hurricane swell pushes through.
I traveled to Bocas in 2004… had a blast, got some nice waves, Carenero to share with 3 other surfers. The place was fairly affordable … 10 $ a night for a room, 8$ for a meal (Lobster and fries). Since them it became so popular and so expensive that I think I won’t be able to afford it anymore. The flock of USA surfers, with money to spend or the ones who would just go there for a few night to renew their 90 days stay on Costa Rica ended up ruining the place …
Great review of the spot !! Might go there next year 🤙🏾 Could you do a deep review of the surf spots and the crowds of popoyo ? I saw there are 2 mentions of it in video parts but I think a deep review of the known spots around and what type of wave they are could be super helpful 😊 Thanks🤙🏾
Considering a Panama trip based purely off of Playa Bluff 🔥 The footage you've filmed from that spot has been so sick to watch. Could only imagine setting my eyes on it in real life 🤤
Yeah, crazy wave for sure!! I certainly put the hours in to get those waves though, I'd hate to know how much time I spent in rips and paddling around out there haha 😂
Hey Dan congrats with the book mate. What is your knowledge or experience of the Pacific side. Playa Escondida , Punta Chame looks insane on Google Earth.
I passed through there back in 97’ on my way from Santa Catalina, Panama to Salsa Brava in Costa Rica… it wasn’t that good at the time but Salsa Brava was incredible and scary
Everyone saying you’re blowing up spots when in reality what you’re doing is taking people away from overcrowded spots and spreading everyone out. I think it would be better all round ifpeople knew different spots then everyone wouldn’t be paddling out at one place. Props Dan and I’m for sure getting the book!
Thanks mate! Yeah, if I'm talking/naming it on this channel, it's already crowded! And yeah plenty of other spots around. Epic, can't wait to share it :)
Another excellent video Dan! Hopefully you surfed Dumpers which I think is one of the best waves in the area. Hotel Tierra Verde is a cool place to stay on Carenera.
I think you did a disservice not mentionning all the beginner spots that turn on when the swell gets really big (ie paunch barrels and carenero becomes none boring)... Making it a great destination when travelling with ppl of different levels
My main question is how can I get a signed copy of the hard cover or even soft cover for that matter Always appreciate and enjoy your epic content Keep em coming my friend Be well and Safe travels 👍🤙
@@DanHarmon123 Amazing work you do traveling and surfing providing super cool and informative information on a global scale! Thanks for your work it is awesome! Stay healthy and keep ripping!
Doesn't anyone care about letting people figure this out on there own , you have to earn it. Do your own research and for god sakes the exploitation on surf destinations does not help the crowd factor at all. I think it's pathetic .
@@williamhanley7031 Yeah and we shouldn’t be able to use Surfline either we should have to drive to the beach and check it everyday based on raw swell and wind charts 😂 You’re literally on a TH-cam channel that shares information about locations and you’re complaining because you’re getting what you tuned into 😂 Salty old dog keep up with the times, we share now.
Im Colombian so this place was never a secret for white surfers from first world countries this was a bit of a secret but there's so much coast line to surf in panama
Once again. Let people figure this stuff out on there own. Kinda not the most choice for people to go here for the last 20 years. Name all the spots , when to go how to get there ECT. People need to figure this stuff out on Thier own dude.
Yeah, I’m going to help people get waves rather than let them figure it out on their own… Plus this is all info you can find with a 2 minute Google Search… Thanks for your comment :)
Bocas del Toro is a fantastic surf destination. It also has a short period during summer time but winter is the king! There are a few more breaks like Wizard and Red Frog beaches which also have a very fun steep wave. I heard you didn't visit Pavones yet, come here during a big swell in the summer, I'll show you around 🏄

Dan Bocas has gotten crowded but it has not always been that way. 💡
Great job breaking down the trip. I was just there last year and it was spot on. Good luck with the book I’m sure it will be awesome!
Thanks Scott!! Yeah I'm super excited about it :)
Well done with the book mate! Will be ordering for sure.

Thank you! Yeah would love to at some stage :)
Awesome vlog and travel info!
Does your Book mention any Dodgy characters? Strange experiences ? I love to read, how about some excerpts from it please?
Will share some excerpts soon for sure!! And yep, spent a lot of time on my own that trip but defo some interesting characters along the way ahaha!!
Hey Dan congrats with the book mate. What is your knowledge or experience of the Pacific side. Playa Escondida , Punta Chame looks insane on Google Earth.
Hey mate!! Thank you. I haven';t been over that side yet, but I know it to be ultra consistent...
You ever get to the Costa Rica side of Caribbean - Puerto Viejo? Similar waves
Stoked for the book!
Sick!!

Hey Michael!! Thank you so much. Haha, not sure on that one as the publishing will be done on Amazon's side... I'll find out though!
Great video, thanks
Dan, how much is Petrol in Panama?
Hey mate!! I walked everywhere so I'm not sure!!
Congratulations on your book hoping to see you again in Bocas next year!
Thanks John!! For sure :))

No mention of water taxi's in the video or the comments.
Hi mate! Water taxi's to Carenero are $1 and $5 to Bastimentos. Those are the only ones I took :)
You have to go to morrillo
Rarely breaks, angry locals and pro only slabs...just go to the pacific side and be happy😂
The best month of the year there is July, watch the charts, it nukes all month and no one is there. Cheers
nice one, helping to keeping it that way.
