  • A project to grow Japanese strawberries has been launched in Trinidad, Benguet, a strawberry-producing region of the Philippines.
Many Filipino trainees who have studied agriculture in Japan live in Trinidad.
Although they have studied Japanese agriculture, their knowledge is not being put to use locally.
This is because Japanese agriculture requires a lot of capital, such as vinyl greenhouses,
and is very different from Philippine agriculture.
Therefore, in order to apply Japanese technology, a strawberry variety suitable for the local area was selected.
The project's objectives are to increase the income of local farmers.
To have them say that it was a good idea to come to Japan.
The aim is to make Trinidad a strawberry-producing region of Japan.
