I got fooled pretty badly on this one, but the steering rack still needed to be replaced. More to come...

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for doing this for us. I need to do my Ridgeline rack as she is weeping like a willow. All other videos on the subject are nowhere as comprehensive as this one. God bless you sir.
@ronaldanderson9263 There may be a few shortcuts to replace the rack along the way. I mainly followed the factory service manual because I'd never replaced a Pilot steering rack. One shortcut I was reminded of, which I used on my CR-V, is to tie off the steering wheel to keep it stationary instead of removing it; I tied my CR-V's steering wheel to the seat rail. Hope the videos help you out. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the content. I recommend removing the tire rods before removing the rack itself to reduce strain and weight upon removal
In this case, I thought just the bushings were bad, so I didn't want to disassemble anything right away. It's a good suggestion when rack replacement is planned, though.
@@carapprenticequestion though, arent you risking burning up the power steering pump the way that you drained the system?
@@ESP-Collectibles I had the same concern, but this procedure is taken straight from the factory service manual. I didn't run it very long.
Great video. thanks for your help!
Appreciate you checking out the video!
I just removed mine. Thanks so much for the video. Question, why did you remove the cat? To prevent o2 sensor cord from breaking? I had enough slack that i didn't have to touch the cat or o2 sensor, came out fine.
Advice for people doing this job. Get the harbor freight Jack crossbar. Have air tools. 1/2 impact and a cordless ratchet. I also tied off my steering wheel so i didn't have to remove it. Be aware if you do this you can cause damage by turning wheel. Also the HF PITTSBURGH crows foot worked for me. That and the pressure sensor were the hardest parts of the job. Wasn't nearly as hard as i thought. Let's pray my third party one lasts..
Also, advice for videos. Sometimes you start zoomed in on a part and i don't know if you're on driver or passenger or underneath. Maybe either start kinda zoomed out and pan into the work area, or just say "this is passenger side wheel well next to the so-and-so," would add a lot of value for little effort.
Since I'd never removed a Pilot steering rack, I played it safe by following the service manual. I agree that the steering wheel doesn't have to be removed - tried to prevent viewers from damaging the clock spring. Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you for the video! I liked that you did not make it too long.
It is crazy how much stuff that need to be removed before reaching this rack.... I did a lot of things on my Pilot (same model) but that is too much for me... I admire you. Looking forward to knowing what was the cause if the issue.
Yes, there is a lot involved in removing the steering rack. Thanks for checking out the video!
I don’t think you needed to remove steering wheel but maybe you can explain why you did it?
@gerardoochoa7806 Yeah, it isn't absolutely necessary to remove the steering wheel; I didn't remove it when I replaced the rack on a CR-V I used to own. To avoid viewers accidentally damaging the clock spring, I decided to remove the steering wheel.
@@carapprentice to avoid this? I just need to tie something to keep the wheel from free spinning right?
@@austint1151 Correct.
Hi dont you have to lower subframe for this model to remove steering rack
@@sivucit Yes, I lowered the subframe in this video.
@@carapprentice Thanks i rewatched it.. did you removed all subframe bolt or just the front 2 or back 2. or alll 4 sides
@@sivucitOnly the two long bolts in the front should remain; those two bolts are simply loosened.
