@LazyRedHead feeling yuk. Found "The Book of the Tree", cozy blanket, chair, etc. Page by page - really BIG book for being so small. Still bloody snowing (that's how you say it. We say damn snow or something worse). Is this little book sewn? New books are glued or something - right? Anyway, big tangent. Love the little book. Intrigued by the construction. Better stop snowing soon - who knows where this could go.
@@christinedozier6071 The weather man has been threatening snow! It has hit the south - I'm in the north... so every morning I wake up with one eye open in anticipation! 😅 It is a shame you're feeling yuk! Im glad you're finding some comfort in hibernation, blankets and a fab book! well you are closer to snowless streets than I am! As we have not had our share yet 😬 and I don't mind saying I am "bloody" dreading it!
That's an honest and true assessment of the art supplies that you don't need but have been given permission to buy anyway 🤔 and not your vlog which are always honest and true..... at times painfully true and honest 😆 🤣 😂 again ty 😊 🙏 ❤️
Taking notes of all the funny bits: -the cap is a ball ache to remove -this paper is less sucky-sucky -lies, Liza Minnelli That sketchbook is full on liar. Made for alcohol markers? Instant lies! Damn you, con artist paper! I wonder how it would work on watercolor paper, like arches hot press? Probably would bleed through, but I don’t know if there’s any paper it won’t leak though. It’s the only reason I’ve put off getting Copic markers. They’re pricey, wonderful, but pricey nonetheless. But I don’t wanna have to gesso over the back of each sketchbook page that I use it on. As far as upcoming videos go, keep it low key, make it what you want! If you skipped uploading for 2 years I’d still be here. Also, I have my bell notifications set, so I won’t miss ya when you do pop on❤
Well I like to give an honest review - I suppose when you quote my own brand of outlying my disappointment like that 😅🤣 it’s telling! I think your right about the types of paper though. I may always get leakage with alcohol markers but i love an experiment 🧪 Thank you for your commitment for my channel and being so supportive ❤️ I am enjoying coming up with low keys videos actually. 😊 love you Debs xx
I haven't ventured into markers yet. Love seeing the different ways you've tried using them. I just got a few Senellier chalk pastels. I think it's the Autumn set. it's one of the only mediums I don't have at the moment. I'm excited to try them out. So glad you are giving yourself time and grace with your creativity. I enjoyed the video as always!
This is my first set of markers - and it’s a different game I can tell you Missy! Oooooo let me know how those pastels are! I use Rembrandt range. Which are lovely but I do love Sinnellier as brand ms go. X
@@lazyredheadThe pastels are very soft and go on like butter. The color range I got is beautiful and they work really well with water. They have half stick sets in color ranges.
Fun new supplies! The markers over the oil pastels are so interesting, lots of experiments and fun to be had for sure. Looking forward to the textures vlog, well anything and everything you come up with actually. Xo
Lies...Liza Minelli... you crack me up! 😄 I bought a rather large pack of alcohol ink pens - not a big fan. It's too finicky for my taste, so I gave them to my grandson. I like the Posca pens, but rarely use them. I may have to dig them out of my cabinet where I keep the rarely used mediums. Another stellar video! 🧡
I agree Winda - I’m not a fan of alcohol pens! I love a Posca though but they are so expensive 😅 I am not aloud to give my pens to my nephews because my sister just her walls painted!!!!! And well they are extremely artistic 🤣😅🤣
this was so interesting! I also didn't expect it to layer over the oil pastels...maybe the cheaper ones are a bit drier than the Sennelier so they didn't pick up as much? very curious. "cocoon when you need" - we'll still be here 💖
Your right i think - the cheaper oil pastel might be more “plastic” than oil. Curious 🧐 I’m good with the uploads for now. I have filmed “textures” and that has seemed to get my mojo back a bit 🥰 but thank you so much for your support ❤️
You are so right!!! why call it alcohol paper then?! There have been times that I too felt the backside was more interesting that the front 🤣🤣🤣 I dont know if that is bad thing or not 🤣🤣🤣
Great vid vlog! What I wanna ask you is do you pre-gesso any of your sketchbooks or works on paper, and also any fronts AND backs of the paper? And lastly, which art supplies might need gesso. Sorry that I might be asking this in a confusing way. The thing is that I've only painted on canvas and I'd like to be able to paint on paper as well. And ridiculously I've kind of been reticent about working on paper. You see, I'm mental also.
Hi Pam - one mental creative to another I totally understand. If I paint on paper with acrylic or oil then I paint both sides. If I use oil pastel, soft pastel or pens/pencils I only gesso the back of the paper. In my sketchbook - I use gesso to cover over work and as it’s a sketchbook I just reuse the page with what ever medium I want to experiment. Gesso is so versatile - I use it as a witch for painting as it creating a nice chalk texture. One think is acrylic ink splits on gesso - lovely texture but if it’s not want you want then avoid that. You could always gesso over an A3 piece of paper, cut in into pieces and test all your mediums on them. That’s a great relaxing “low risk” way to have a play without the pressure 😉 I hope this helps Pam ❤️
Talk about an honest review 😬😬

@LazyRedHead Thanks so much for your detailed response!! I figured you would be the best person to ask, and also the least one to judge. 😀
@@pamzavada5269 you are more than welcome Pam. You can ask any question you want ❤️
The Promarkers are alcohol based; so should be able to blend oil based pastel. Alcohol breaks down oil/wax (depending on strength of alcohol).
I have been using them the last few days actually! I will try that out as they are really strong so it should work in theory 🥳🥳🥳
