One of the best movies of all time . The score alone is mesmerizing
Great score but the movie just did not connect with me. I did not care about many of the cast.
one of the most beautiful movie instrumental themes of all time.
In 3 1/2 minutes it's like watching the movie all over again and crying like a baby. The look on Emma's face just before passing is so heart wrenching. 💔
I agree!
Oscars for....
Best Film
Best Actress Shirley Maclaine
Best Supporting Actor Jack
Best Director
Best Screenplay
1983 was a great year for films, music, and life in general...
...not so much in 2024, glad I was 21 at the time. Great film!
These actors really gave it.... Amazing to observe the work.....
This still brings me to tears after all these years. Amazing movie and song. 😥💜
Likewise!
@@lakeisharobinson2132 Have a wonderful day, my friend. 💜
I was a very mature kid back in the 80’s. I was all of 10 yrs old when this movie came out, and it was one of my favourites (they did not really make movies for kids back then other than animated Disney stuff). I was a figure skater at the time, and my coach picked The Entertainer for my solo music. I hated it and told her so. Finally, she got fed up with my lack of enthusiasm every time I had to do that stupid Entertainer solo that she gave in and let me pick my own music. I told her I wanted the music from Terms of Endearment. She was like “seriously? That’s depressing”😂. It took me forever to find the sountrack album. I had to special order it from a large record store in Toronto. It was the BEST solo music though. I loved skating to it😊
Amazing story. Love it. Thank you so much for sharing.
Nice story!
Debra Winger should have won the Oscar.
Agree...
I AGREE TOO

As far as acting is concerned this was absolutely stellar performances for a memorable movie, the chemistery between Maclaine and Nicholson is right up there in the movie hall of fame.
Oh absolutely! If anyone didn’t fall head over heels in love with Jack, especially when he just showed up and gave Aurora his presence when she needed it. Wow! That’s what I love about particular actors/actresses: they are careful with the films they star in, but when they do, hold on because they’re going to give Academy Award performances.
@@ohcanada8084 Indeed, I loved Jack whooping it up in the pool what a role he had :)
I'm 44yrs old and I love this theme song HOWEVER I cannot bring myself to watch this movie. I'm a parent and so scared to lose a child
It's not only about losing a child. That's not the main point of the movie. I have lost a child who was 16 and I still love this movie.
If you ever do, make sure you have a box of Kleenex with you. I bet when this was in the movie theater, everyone brought Kleenex for the movie.
A tear jerker for sure. A comedy a lil bit of everything ❤
@@ILOVEDANNYELFMANso sorry for your loss
One of my all time favorites and I cry almost every time I listen to the theme song , while listening to it I think of so many episodes it had that was heart wrenching in this beautifully made film 🎥
Just love this movie! Stellar performances by all! Shirley Mac and Debra were the perfect Mother and Daughter! ♥️♥️🌺🎶🎶
This theme sing is powerful. The movie fantastic. Cast excellent.
the composer of this song is brilliant, a real time piece
The composer is Michael Gore and Lesley Gore is his sister. He went on to do the movie for Fame and won an Oscar for the title song
@@colleenbeilby824He had already won his Oscar for Fame in 1981. This came after Fame
The 1980s may have been crap in general, but there are very few gems. This is one of them.
Soooo full of nostalgia..From the first note to the last!!
One of my favourite movies of all time ! It was part of my chilhood memories.
WHAT a movie!! 5 oscars (including Best Picture) all deserved ! I saw it again yesterday: It's a tiny bit outdated, but still TOP QUALITY, especially the acting.
Back when they usually gave Oscars to the actual best candidates. No equity and inclusion aspects.
It's so depressing....which makes it realistic. Not very many fms manage to do this imo
The movie is not depressing, actually uplifting that through the ups and downs of life love perseveres. I usually cry through the final act but feel hope at the ending few minutes
@johnmiller4282 yea but I wouldn't call watching my daughter die uplifting....js
@johnmiller4282 I must disagree. It's depressing when Emma's marriage fails, when she gets diagnosed with cancer, and when she dies at the end of the movie.
I love this movie...i saw it in the theatre when it came out in 1982 when I was a kid
How was it growing up in the 80’s? I wish I could’ve lol
Same and it's still one of my all-time favorite movies and I'm 46 now.
@@deiunplugged144Everything today could never be. We learned how to love ourselves and those around us naturally, not with the influences of social media. It was a much more pure time. Of course we had modern technologies like microwaves and digital clocks but nothing compared to what the internet has done to our world today. I'm so glad I was in a generation that grew up without internet. I was 19 when I bought my first PC with AOL but prior to that there was no internet so my entire childhood was internet free. I'm also so glad I got to experience the internet for the second half of my life so far but more grateful that I knew what life was like prior.
This Wonderful Movie Will Sit In The Hollywood Archives. ❤
And Deborah Winger always reminded me of my sister.
This was a phenomenal and popular film when it came out I remember. It’s remained popular since generation after generation. It’s well done and entertaining due to the brilliant performances that are so real. It’s got drama as well as comedy. It’s life.
Can you believe Burt Reynolds turned down the role?!
Teddy’s eyes 👀 saying goodbye to his mother for the last time at the hospital 🏥 so painful. LIFE… 🥺😢😭
Jeez, I'm watching this again.
The 80s was so cool because it was the last decade where an instrumental tune from a movie could became a big it, St. Elmo’s fire, chariots of fire. I don’t remember anything like this from the 90s on.
Close Encounters
I would say Forrest Gump's instrumental theme went pretty mainstream the year it was released.
I don’t know why I love this film’s score so much. It’s an 80’s movie, but it doesn’t have the groovy synth from the 80’s. It’s sentimental and homey. It almost reminds me of the mild music on those old Wee Sing tv movies, which were also made around the 80’s and 90’s.
A wonderful wonderful film
Saw this in the theater in 1983. Had no idea how it ended. Oh my God, the tears.
I hope everyone brought Kleenex with them to see the movie.
The 80s really seemed like a great time in history for films
Yup
The most heartfelt and breaking movie of all time. The theme says it all
Fun fact: Michael Gore was Leslie Gore's (It's My Party) younger brother and also wrote the song Fame.
My ex rented this " for me" a week after my father died from cancer in 1984.... the song haunts me to this day
2024 and loving this...
Masterpieces. Movie and song.
I could listen to
This always and forever
After I watched this film, my entire room mysteriously started smelling strongly of onions.
Top 3 of my favorite songs in my life
Watched that movie probably 10 times so far love it ❤
*Yaklaşık 3 ay öncesinde 1929 dan beri verilmeye başlanan Oscar ödülüne tabii olan filmler serisini izlemeye başladım.Bugün 1983 Terms of Endearment'ı izledim.Müzik acayip etkiledi beni.Ah be bayılıyorum drama türüne.
❤Thank you mom! Your favorite movie. Reminds me of us!

A perfect movie
I had a competitive bodybuilding career that spanned 25 years. This was my favorite posing music.
I want this played at my funeral.❤
Comedian Gallagher would say that You

I'd agree.❤
Extraordinary movie. I saw it many years ago.
If you have the ♥ for it, you will cry, whilst processing many of your personal grief emotions.
It is up to you.
Take the step, or don't
Think I'll Step Back.
I saw this film on a widescreen movie house with a good friend named George not a dry eye in the theater as soon as Emma is told malignant............ little did I know in 1999 my mom too..............
Marvelous movie. I cried at the end.
This is the first movie that made me cry. 🥺
This is literally the most beautiful thing I have seen on You Tube to date!
Yup. Yup! Yup !!❤
Uwielbiam ten film niezmiennie od lat, przepiękna muzyka ❤️
Great theme, but it will always have a sadness to it as if in anticipation of what finally transpires in the movie. I think anyone who never saw the movie but hears this theme can get that sense of uneasiness.
this movie is up in the top 10 in the world and reminds me so much of my family love charmaine love
Happy Birthday to Shirley Maclaine who starred in the best movie ever made.(besides Star Wars.
I never cry at movies, especially the cable ones, maybe I will read the book, just maybe
don't bother books sucks! MOVIE MASTERPIECE FROM BOOK is a miracle!
The best movie ❤❤❤
40 years ago. Daaaaamn.
One of the best
Jack Nicholson was sooo freaking handsome in this movie, uh la la! 😳
Possibly more tear jerking than st Elmo’s fire love theme. Maybe because there’s no fan-made collage of movie clips like this one. I’m fucking balling over here, guys
Boo - Hoo
Absolutely Best YT short Ever! How do I nominate
4 an Oscar?❤
Great movie
A perfect example of a movie which by itself is nothing and is totally carried by an amazing, incredible, fantastic song
Well done video with the theme song. I’m sure this took a lot of time.
Thanks 🙏 ❤
Excellent
I could never forgive Jeff Daniels character in this movie.
Saludos.
Debora, ich sage nur die Wahrheit. So viele Stars. So viele Vorbilder.. Aber Sexy? Nein. so viele, nein!
🌹
I want to watch the movie now.
You should have a box of Kleenex when you do see it.
Deborah Winger looks like Meg Ryan.

Val Valentino's magic tricks brought me here.
Sad when a parent losses a child

11/23/1983 is when Terms of Endearment came out
Garret x Aurora 😍😍
THERES NO SOUND

Song weaves uplifting rousing passages and phrasing with somber minor tonalities and key changes expertly. By the end of the movie we feel as if we have lived with these people, know their hopes and dreams and fears...it is a beautiful slice of life drama with a extremely sad and melancholy ending.
Writer of book had something to do w/ it too.
Debra Winger 🌹♥️✨
This movie was so weird
it was so good but if you can’t relate to the things that happened in the movie you wouldn’t really understand
Lay back and enjoy the ride!
