it's weird to think think that these two men sitting here, talking, are the vocals behind the best band in the world. Ed is so underrated and their harmonies are always amazing.
who says that is a total dumbass! Ed is as highly important to the band as any other member. If one just watches there live performances closely, it's quite obvious. He adds all these sounds to the catalogue which just bring the full picture to life. I've always admire Radiohead for working so effective since they have 3 guitar players. I know it is hard. Thats one more reason why the are such a fantastic band.
Maxwell Harrison Ratzky true talent is being so subtle that people question why you're even in the band. Jazz is great example of the ultimate art of subtlety... A lot of people would say the same thing about Ringo Starr, that he sucked as a drummer. The guy is a genius when it comes to writing music for the style the Beatles were. In the same regard, Ed falls into this category, but as a guitarist/vocalist/etc... I wouldn't know what the hell to play to half of Radiohead or The Beatles catalogues if I were either of them.
I don't think Radiohead knows how much they will ALWAYS have a place in the hearts of alternative music fans everywhere... They don't understand what they've done for music and how much they are appreciated. They could play me the phonebook and it'd be genius. They will ALWAYS have a fan base. It may not always be the largest, but it will always be the most loyal and appreciative of true art. Thank you, Radiohead. Thank you for everything. -an 18 year old fan.
ChrisMarie93 airbag and tourist hold up. but the rest are on rare rotations. kid amnesiac was made from a tabla rasa space. not a "lets make another rock album".
it's interesting to see that, even at their level, there is still that artistic self-doubt and struggle...no matter how many millions have been thrilled by every note they've ever played... it just shows that really every artist has to go through nearly the same struggles regardless of their level of success or talent
Thats why I love RH they are brave enough to go to those dark place which build strength, and gives there fans empathy for those times we get lost in the dark. Thank you Radiohead, and Pink floyd for allways being there.
They are Radiohead for crying out loud! A category by itself. Please do not talk bad for them, they were part of my life at times of joy, split ups, relaxation , and, miraculusly...celebration...they are holy to me...
The antithesis of the American cultural doctrine that artists have to be open, performing, accessible at all times. The British have always been more reserved, but sadly Cowell has imported the fashion.
This is hilarious... just look at how those two are really just using the interview as a time to talk with each other (Ed and Thom) about what they seem to need to say about the past.
you guys will always be relevant and we will always want new music from you guys. please never stop and know we all love the things you have done for us and will be forever thank ful.
What's genuinely amazing about these interviews: I've heard them talk about how difficult it is when they make albums, but only in generic terms. I have no idea what Ed means when he talks about "trusting the process". But the albums where I've heard the most about them struggling? OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows. There's something powerful in their struggle and I wonder what it is.
Ok. Here's the obvious: love them! The more they relax and discuss real life situations, quite frankly, the more I respect them and would love to just hang out and have a drink with them. Despite previous press about how "difficult" Thom is, I'll bet he's fun when he's at ease. I'll bet they all are...
it's a sad thing watching this on 2022 knowing they don't know if lp10 will exist someday... holy fuck i just played it for full of serotonin purposes and now my chest kinda hurts hahah
@semperfidelis3100 they're not saying they don't make good music but that they can lose confidence in themselves whilst making a record. I love how they've stuck together and pulled through all these years to yet again release a great record. I can't thank this band enough for what they do.
Hail to the Thief is not mentioned?, it is far and away some of their best work, i saw them play last week and There, There was the penultimate song of the night
I wouldn't have gotten so mad if this guy would have said, " Are they on drugs?" or "Do they do drugs?". But his "how high are they?" seems to imply that their complete druggies and on drugs all the time. I don't doubt that they've done drugs before, and yes, drugs can make people make great music ( Pink Floyd, The Beatles etc.) It was just his wording that got me kind of pissed. But yeah, I agree with you.
>Progressed in the nineties >No Progression in naughties You sir, have defeated me through the powers of sound logic and reasoning, obviously Kid A, Amnesiac, In Rainbows and The King of Limbs were a regression
a band can be annoying when you are in love with it and you have expectations.Obviously Antiks72 was expecting another way of Radiohead maturing ... I think
they also released an album around the time of In Rainbows. Portishead (good friends of Radiohead) has been around roughly as long as Radiohead so it made them feel comfortable that they weren't alone in releasing an album for as long as they've been around
Rock stars... can they be so down to earth like this??? 0_o Having delivered a chart topper they should be on cloud nine... oh, but Radiohead ain't like any other rock band!
I hate this fucking interview so much. I'm a young musician putting together a meager studio in my home and trying to create my own brand of indie music. And to hear Thom and Ed so that THEY don't think they're music is always good enough makes me feel like I will never be remotely listenable. Hahaha. DO THEY NOT KNOW THAT THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY, MIND-BLOWINGLY, DIVINELY TALENTED?!
You don't have to be Radiohead. You can do your own thing that's amazing, even if it isn't perfect. In fact, don't even worry if it's good or not. Just keep making music. You'll get better naturally.
Remember, these guys didn't start out being great; they started out being a dodgy U2/Smiths clone. But they broadened their horizons later on, and became stronger than the sum of their influences by combining them into a signature sound. (Over the course of three decades)
idk why radiohead fans get so defensive when people say, "radiohead does drugs." a lot of greatpeopleexperiment withdrugs. its ok and natural. (the right drugs) i would get defensive if someone said radioheads lyrics or songs in general are about or influenced by drugs, because they are not. if radiohead, any of them, actually partook in the use of drugs, they definitely wouldnt tell the media. they are smarter than that.
how can a band be annoying? just don't listen to them. also what you are expressing here is a "oppinion" so please express yourself in a way that fits.
In Rainbows was a magical era for Radiohead.
What's your guess for their next album friend?
They just knew they had a great record, I think. You felt they had so much confidence

I really really love Thom's talking voice,, it's just as nice as his singing voice

Sounds like they at marriage counselling
Made me giggle 😂
HHAHAHAHA
Bands are lol not far off marriages not going to lie
lol.... Ed and Thom are the dysfunctional parents that somehow make it work, Jonny and Colin are their neutronic children, and Phil is the cool uncle.
Bands are a hybrid of a company with no profit and a marriage with no sex.
Ed saying: "We've done some good stuff in the past", has to be the definition of the word "understatement".
that maybe why they are still a good band. They're the least egotic famous band I ever seen
i think they believei n some kind of karma thing. they dont want to jinx their careers.
"are we too old to be doing this?" LMAO dont ever stop radiohead...
Its funny because it feels like Thom's voice is getting better with time
I don't even get what he means by that lol what does age have to do with it? Why would anyone suddenly quit their music career in their 40s?
The fact he's in his 50's, they still should never stop.
it's weird to think think that these two men sitting here, talking, are the vocals behind the best band in the world. Ed is so underrated and their harmonies are always amazing.

Maxwell Harrison Ratzky you said it!
Thom is the most adorable person I've seen .
so much love and respect for them

Dang. So insightful. Thank you for posting this.
In Rainbows is a truly great album. So is Ok Computer, The Bends and A Moon Shaped Pool...
Their track record is god tier
This is hilarious... just look at how those two are really just using the interview as a time to talk with each other (Ed and Thom) about what they seem to need to say about the past.
Seems like a great interview. They both seem so chilled out & relaxed. Compared to the awkwardness of the interviews on live talkshows and stuff
I just love Ed's voice

How ironic. In Rainbows was what brought me to Radiohead.

So funny to think of them talking, way back then, about being old.
"low artistic self confidence" - Geez, we're all screwed then.

The kid thing was so cute
These dudes are the kind of musicians you can tell didnt want international fame and all that goes with it. Almost like a Pearl Jam situation.
i think they wanted just to be known in england but it blew out of proportions. i bet thom wanted to be a star but not THIS KIND OF STAR
Idk why i ever thought that Radiohead made songs easily. I never though about the pressure and insecurities.
"Tough times in two and a half years of tough." Lol
No way, man. Kid A might be their best album, but OK Computer was amazing.
why the Portishead stuff in the last seconds??
real people...real genius...amazing music ..ahh....
"If you are trying to do something good, it can be really tough"
is the full interview posted anywhere?
never mind, mates! In Rainbows is a perfect album
he's known as, "the left side of the stage"
The way Ed talks reminds me of Brian May. They have a similar way of giving an interview.
How can he blink with only one eye? Does his left eye burn all the time?
its paralysed
his eyelid muscles are paralyzed in his left eye, he can move his actual eyeball but not the eyelid
i think he rolls his eye backwards or something...
I think my eyes are gonna fall out of how cringey these replys are
Ed is 30 cm taller than Thom, for those ones who where wondering
Which album they talking about? K.O.L?
Surely not In Rainbows..... it's their best album!
awesome
haha, his kids should see the pics from the mid-90s when Radiohead was all glammed up like they were going to the Eurovision.
Rainy Jane and that phase lasted a Qwik minute.
they rock in best sense of the word...not pop in its worst sense.
Thom Yorke is an English human Sonic the Hedgehog.
OMG I love Thom's children XD
Which album are they talking about?
In the rainbows or hail to the theif
when was this interview?
