गीता और संजय चोपड़ा अपहरण मामला नई दिल्ली का 1978 में होने वाला एक कुख्यात अपराध था। दो बच्चे गीता और संजय चोपड़ा को दो युवक रंगा ख़ुश (कुलजीत सिंह) बिल्ला (जसबीर सिंह) ने उन बच्चों के माता-पिता से फिरौती की मांग करने की योजना के तहत अपहरण कर लिया। उनके पिता के नौसेना अधिकारी होने की जानकारी मिलने पर इन अपराधियों ने इरादा बदल दिया। सबूत को खत्म करने के लिए इन लोगों ने बाद में संजय की हत्या की, गीता के साथ बलात्कार किया और फिर उसे भी मार डाला। वे शहर छोड़कर भाग गए।[1] वे कुछ महीने बाद एक ट्रेन में उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया और 1982 में अदालती कार्रवाही के पश्चात इनके अपराध के लिए फाँसी पर लटका दिया गया था

My mom shared this story ( in very modified way) in 1994 when I was 11 , and warn us not to take lift from any stranger..she told me that they are few bad people who kidnapped kids. So always be careful.. Unfortunately my mother passed away in same year but I still remb this story.. Today while listening this story, I miss my mom.. Tribute to brave heart kids .. Sanjay and Geeta..

Very Sad Story but my salute to both brave kids Sanjay and Geeta Chopra.
But the sad thing is that kind of crime still continues.
I was in high school then. Still can remember write a few details
1. Billa's father took him to meet Sh. Laal Bahadur Shastri ji. Shastri ji blessed Child Billa saying - one day you'll be a great man.
2. As the final blow, Ranga put the sword on Sanjay'e neck and pressed it with his foot to sever the neck.
3. When the two were arguing with the army men in the train, Ranga took out a country made pistol which angered the army men, they beat them up and handed them over to police, then they were identified.

One fact got missing was that the handles of the car were removed so the children could not open the doors and windows from inside. It was an extremely scary case and shook Delhi badly. Before that it was common and safe in Delhi for the students to ask for the lift. And Delhi was not that crime infested.

Excellently narration, you have revived my memories about this brutal crime. I had passed 10 std then . I used read this in newspapers, only when they were caught and hanged my mind rested. Just imaging their plight and wished somebody had rescued them when the public saw it.
