The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

Malacath is sure interesting. You expect him to be savage, but his missions have you helping Ogres that had been mistreated, an punishing a chieftain that was not following the rules of his people while benefiting from them.
Malacath is the one of the only non daedric, daedric prince.
But this begs a question, if a daedra eats you do you become a daedra
@@DeltaSK2112 I think that it is pointed that the story of him being eaten is too literal, I think you have to look at it on a conceptual basis.
Mostly it seems agreed that Trinimac was a great hero and revered. He was consumed in the sense that his identity was eaten by Boethiah, sort of how Mantling works by becoming a god through becoming indistinguishable from that god. He was a hero god who's identity went through the circle of the betrayal, and came out the other the other end as with his own circle of the betrayed and ostracized, and daedra like existance.
To end up in the same case, you would probably need to already have such an existance that a Mantle could work, have your identity consumed by a daedra, but have enough that you would not lose your sense of an identity.

Malacath has always been my favorite Daedric Prince, despite the fact that I’m not exactly a big fan of orcs. He’s just so bad ass.

August Valentine Malacath is the remnant of Trenimac after Boethia ate and crapped him out. Essentially, Trenimac got eaten, then Malacath was made from Boethia’s shit.
@Tw1 Trinimac was the most powerful Aedra. And the history of be eaten is just a myth/chimer propaganda. Everybody knows!
Malacath is the only Prince worthy of worship imo. He is somewhat merciful and definitely benevolent as a parental figure.
And on a different note, I think that Trinimac as Malacath co-exist as different aspects of the same god and I think this is apparent because of how malacath behaves and his tenants which show his values which are distinctly aedric.
If I recall from ESO, Trinimac’s influence is still tangible and he is still worshipped by all Mer as a minor god(except for most Dark Elves and Orcs).
They don't coexist.
The_Drop Bear The orcs of Orsinium would seem to disagree. I think Trinimac is less powerful and influential than he was bc he receives less worship than the other Elven and Alessian gods.

I’ve known about the whole “Boethiah vs Trinimac = Malacath” thing for a while but I didnt know about this..
I feel like the main reason Malacath doesn't have a full on rage filled holy war is that he's a creature born of defeat and shame, he came into being downtrodden and so associates with those in similar situations but lacks the fire of a righteous angry deity.

Honestly I don't think Sheogorath cares that much if the mortals "turn away" or mehrunes, or molag, or boethia, or mephala, or Sanguine, or Vaermina. Nocturnal doesn't have that issue as she always has the thieves guilds to worship her. Azura, and Meridia seem to care a bit. Namira never really had a huge following but has had a consistent following. Yeah.... don't think your comment fits... imo :)

Malacath seems to be the Daedric Prince of unfailing responsibility. He lost combat due to treachery, but he takes responsibility for the loss due to not predicting/foreseeing the ruse. He killed his blessed son, but takes responsibility for it in that he trusted Sheogorath and should've seen through the trick. He didn't want the Ash Pits, but he takes responsibility for the realm and makes it into something for his chiefs, who he is responsible for.

Poor Malacath. I've always had a soft spot for Orcs.
Azura is the most 'aedra-like' of the Daedra (Meridia could potentially be added to that, but then you have her dealings with the Hearthland Elves), all of her quests have been fairly good-aligned, her artifact might be evil if you follow the soultrap=evil logic (but if so, that would apply to every mage and likely every protagonist who needs that sweet enchanted gear). Azura can be vengeful, but not without reason, and so can Malacath.
Malacath is without a doubt the most honorable of the bunch however, and largely the only reason anyone would spur him would be because he's by default the patron of brigands, raiders and marauders, aka the outcasts and the spurned.

Boethia teaches that the world is a obstacle and that you must overcome it yourself by yourself regardless of who you step on to survive e.g the story of the 4 worshipers where 2 beg for mercy and try to please her while the last kills the other to prove himself, and the start of her quest in skyrim where you become the last cultist standing.
Malacath teaches that while the world is an obstacle to overcome no one said you must do it alone and that the tribe is stronger than the individual, take responsibility for your actions that only benefit you but hurt the whole. No one said life would be easy but thats not an excuse to just kill or hurt everything that makes it hard.
Boethia teaches Get good while Malacath teaches: Be Better.

The Orcs are only the way they are now because they split up when they first started however. If they didn't, they'd have their own Province.
Don't forget too, the Tribunal had overthrew the "Good Daedra" including Boethia, and so really, you can see that the Dunmer prosper thanks to Boethia having 2 other Daedric sisters with her, and keeping them together when they first left Summerset, and even then, she was tossed by the Chimer and wasn't embraced by the Dunmer till thousands of years later.

And yet his people still died trying to defend it, and before it has been overrun people still made pilgrimages to it. Malacath might not be the most widely loved daedra, but he is the most loved among his followers. The only other daedra that is so widely loved I can think of is sheogorath

Hircine is honorable. His hunts from what I've seen offer the prey the opportunity to win it just obviously isn't easy. When the prey does win he isn't angry he's impressed and rewards them

13:37 Maybe the reason Malacath doesn't despise the dark elves is because the fact they were CURSED to be dunmer. They are no longer the chimer, they were ALL punished because of the Tribunal taking up godhood and Azura cursing them.
So maybe he isn't bitter because he may see their transformation as karma or justice in a way. One of those "They got what they deserved." Kind of thing.

I'd say he's still bitter to them. Malacath values never being a victim and taking justice into your own hands. Azura cursed the Dunmer. Malacath never got the chance. Of course he'd be willing to accept a Dunmer as one of his Sons if they are scorned and betrayed, but the original chimer that abandoned him have never paid the Blood Price

Skyrim has amazing lore, but when it comes to options it lacks a lot of content. Imagine if you play as an orc, and after helping out all strongholds Malacath choses you as his/her champion, gives you a special artifact and sends you along other orcs to fight against Boethia's cultists, and when you win he makes you "King/Queen" of the orcs in skyrim, then some badass stronghold is revealed, like the one in the AdalMaltar mod, and you get that as a player home as well as a place to get some side quests. So much lost potencial.

A way of phrasing it: Boethiah preaches responsibility for your own well-being alone, while Malacath preaches responsibility for yourself, your kin, and the consequences of your actions

My favorite daedric quest in Oblivion was definitely the Malacath quest. Any time I get to take down a slaver is a good time

Man, I have a new found respect for the guy. I never knew that his character was so profound and deep. I thought he was just a generic “me strong, me like bloodshed” daedra, but he’s got heart. He’s the most human of them all. A champion wronged, a warrior who always accepts his failures and tries to do better for his people instilling within them a sense of hope. I might just be inclined to play an orc build later on down the line (a beautiful female one of course).
I never did like the Daedra; however, Malacath became one of the few exceptions once I learned his story. To me, he's still part Aedra.
Knowing what happened to his son makes me hate the other unworthy Daedric princes even more. Especially Sheogorath. It was a mistake for the other princes to not have either sealed Sheogorath away or stolen his power when he was still Jyggalag.

JustinNathy idk, it could totally be either way. Given the weird fluff that is in Morrowind I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually literal. Tbh I think it would kind of be neat as most constructed stories try to stir away from perseived obscenities like that, but in irl myth like that in ancient Egypt with set eating seamen covered lettuce, it is not all that uncommon. Of course these could also be metaphysical beings and consumption and excrement are just analogs for the god being absorbed and expelled.

Depending on where the next elder scrolls takes place in I would love to see more done with orcs. Like playing as an orc maybe we could become part of an orcish tribe or maybe overthrow an unworthy chief and take his place. Though I would say I’ve got a bias since I love the orcs
It would be nice to have more orc related quests, so we can have a better understanding of them.
The only decent way for this to be done is when the game is set in both High Rock and Hammerfell, and since Orsinium is actually just northeast of High Rock, you could probably explore as DLC or whatever.

Malacath is actually my favorite god in Skyrim in general. Mainly bc I love Orcsbut he's story is a shock and how he acts just makes him the bigger man then any other Dreadric prince could ever achieve. His love for his children and the way he tells them to follow through different situations just makes him the father figure.
That's why he's one of my favorite Daedric princes if not my favorite he takes accountability for his actions and what's his his kind to do that and not just that all people he's probably the best of the Daedra

Perhaps the Daedra themselves have a hand in keeping the Orcs an oppressed and hunted by other people's in Mundus.
They fear what a large and fanatical horde of Orcs would do to them.
After this video I kind of respect Malacath. While you could argue that some elements of his code are cruel and vicious, he himself abides by his own code too. He is not asking you to do something he himself wouldn't. I can respect a ruler who is not above his own laws.
Honestly one of my favorite moments in any Elder Scrolls game was when Malacath asks you to go free some ogres that were taken as slaves...

Can we talk about how the dragon born is as strong as clavicus vile at half his power? I believe that's insane
clavicus and peryite are the weakest under the princes, but yeah, being as powerful as half a daedric lord is pretty crazy.

One of those dudes you cannot help but feel immensely sorry for, his life a master class in getting screwed.
If you look at Malacath and Trinimac as one entity, transformed, then he's almost a Daedric Prince of Loyalty, with an emphasis on a sort of nationalism or clan-mindedness. Also Justice, through the lens of his brand of nationalism. Trinimac held certain loyalties and preached them. He believed in a kind of justice. Once spurned however, his loyalties and sense of justice changed. Still as strong, but from a new perspective: the Spurned.
In my Orc playthrough I've sworn myself to Malacanth 😄

I've noticed an oversight of Malacath's Ashpit here, there is supposedly a kind of small oasis within the Ashpit which likely represents Trinimac.
Malacath's story breaks my heart every time I hear it, man.
I've learned more about how to live a virtuous and noble lifestyle from Elder Scrolls than my parents ever taught me. The closing piece here was simply beautiful.
My two favorite princes are easy Malacath and Hircine, simply because for Immortal godbeings, they know both humanity and humility. They adhere to honor-bound edicts, yet are cruel and brutal.
Hircine is a hunter, but not a mindless killing monster. He hunts because it is the way of nature, and he is a hunter who treats life as a prize to win, and victory is Unbreakable.
Malacath is probably the most scorned being in the Elder Scrolls universe, going from the proud Knight of Auri-El, who ripped Shor's heart from his godly chest, to an ugly, cursed pig-man of sickly green-black skin, brows topped with impish horns and mouth morphed to bear boarish tusks, and yet he holds true to a knight's Honor, in a sense. He teaches his children to kill, but not without due diligence, and treats his followers as his children, especially orcs. Probably the most engaged Prince with his followers out of the lot.

Ironically Malacath seems like a much nicer guy than Trinimac. I suppose he got a healthy dose of humility after his curse.
Sudden great respect for the world building surrounding the religions of Tamriel. I always thought of the Aedra and Daedra as a bit petty and simple, but watching these videos I see there is much more to be gleamed from there. That said, looking at Malakath, arguably the most tribal and (presented as such) simple deities as having so much more depth, it does indeed inspire a great deal of respect for the creative minds at work on him. And much appreciation to you, Drew and the rest of Fudgemuppet for helping me see that! :)

Malakath: Daedric Prince of orcs, asks you to actually help orcs
I wonder why people talk about Azura being the main example of a "good" Daedric Prince. The entire argument comes with the caveat that she's just unlikely to harm mortals since she's more focused on destroying the undead when Malacath is right there. He was an Aedra before he was warped by Boethiah, after all. He promotes unity within one's clan, brought the Orcs a path when they had none, and believes in enduring and growing from mistakes and failures, taking responsibility for his failures and being saddened by his loss. Behind all of the violence that he and the Orsimer promote is perhaps the most stable civilization and a fatherly god to rule them. After all, you don't see the Orcs causing any civil wars or opening portals to Oblivion, do you?

It's ironic, trinamac and his followers tried to stop the dunmer from leaving...and in turn they eneded up leaving themselves and becoming even more bizzare and changed then the chimer/dunmer. At least the dark elves still pass as elves. In tes there's scholars who honestly think the orcs are related to ogres and goblins. Moral of the story... I'm not sure. Lol

In my opinion, Malacath is the only truly good daedra. He cares about his followers and has done nothing to hurt mortals. He may be brutal but that is nature. The strongest survive and at least he shows honor.
Would Malachath accept a non-orc into his realm if they were a devout follower of the code? Also, what is the tradition of Bloodline? Does this somehow make the bloodkin an orc spiritually so to speak?

I always love roleplaying a holy orc build following trinimac. Sort of a 2 handed holy warrior. With a full white topnot and tied beard. Sort of gives the "old warrior" like the "Vivecs Faithful" build on this channel from years ago. It feel cooler than Malacath for me because Trinimac is a sort of almost divine character in relation to how he was following Auriel in ancient lore of elder scrolls. It gives me the roleplaying power to allow my orc to get old without thinking he has to die because he has white or gray in his hair. Wintersun is awsome because it gives you the ability to do this. I love wearing the bonemold armor with the Variations mod retexture where the scarfs and cloth is red instead of white. The whit looks great though as well. Or even the variations dark blueish glass armor looks great and still intimidating.
