Depression appears as a symptom of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, because chronic pancreatitis is one of the causes, and chronic pancreatitis can come along with liver cirrhosis due to the formation of those gallstones and with liver cirrhosis..while normally the liver converts the ammonia into urea..now it does not! And urea can travel up to the brain causing neurological problems including changing in the mental status of the patient... just a thought.

So how likely is it through a CT scan to see if a patient has this pancreatic cancer?

Do you know the reason why this carcinoma can cause migratory thrombophlebitis?

Afaik Trousseau's sign of malignancy (TSoM) = blood clots felt as lumps under the skin.
I was wondering why only 10% of pancr. adenocarc. patients have this sign, the explanation is easy - bcs TSoM is usually associated with cancer of the body/ tail!
Mechanism: "Some malignancies, especially gliomas (25%), as well as adenocarcinomas of the pancreas and lung, are associated with hypercoagulability [...] for reasons that are incompletely understood, but may be related to factors secreted by the tumors, in particular a circulating pool of cell-derived tissue factor-containing microvesicles. Some adenocarcinomas secrete mucin that can interact with selectin found on platelets, thereby causing small clots to form."
In summary: Not really clear but most likely a combination of infl. cytokines and procoag. factors.

automech01 4 pounds a month when your "overweight" is almost unnoticeable. My boyfriend puffed up so big and was irritable and had lots of heartburn then he started throwing up after he ate and I thought it was all stress related. By the time we went to the Dr his tumor was the size of a grapefruit on the head of his pancreas.
