It had a gritty outside and a soft center and I knew I was about to swallow something that was not food. There was an aboriginal man watching and having a good laugh.

Tony doesn't say he was 'raised' in southwest England. He says he 'comes from' southwest England. He's talking about where he lives, not where he was born or grew up. He lives in Bristol, which is in southwest England.
