That second horse just danced through the course. Very elegant ride and they went through very nicely. Belgium and Ireland are impressing me in this competition....especially Ms. Jessica and her beautiful horse, Nike. I think they've gotten the best score so far.
58:50 he was off balance and hanging on to the horses face no wonder it couldn’t jump a full up 160. Surely there has to be some sort of regulation on the actual rider’s riding?
Unfortunately in Jumpers the rider can be the most horrendous rider but if they can afford the fancy horse that jumps regardless, they can enter the competitions and potentially win. You don't find that as much in Equitation/Hunters (though money still talks quite loud, obviously) Not every rider is like this, but imo one rich yet terrible rider cheapens the sport for everyone.
When you see-saw, the bit's metal mouth piece drags back and forth across your horse's sensitive lips, mouth and tongue. It causes uncomfort and pain, which usually results in your horse to lower their head.
Many jumpers are spirited and don't need the backup aid of a crop, which isn't necessarily for punishment. Incidentally, you can't truly cause pain to a horse and expect him to jump for you (or do much of anything else you'd want). That's one thing so cool about jumping: the horse has to be calm and alert with no pain in order to do it at this level. So it's okay to relax and enjoy the athleticism of the sport and be happy these are valued and well-cared for animals.
Well, no. Part of the sport is dealing with distractions, like the crowd and the jump crew and strange jumps and the speakers, etc. These horses are trained for it and if they minded they wouldn't be out there doing it.
@@JohnAllenRoyce haha, yes I know the sport well! I certainly respect your view. All the distractions that you mention, I agree with. All, except the horse and rider in the ring during an active jumping round! You can not train that out of some horses! I've actually witnessed another pair in the ring crossing a line very close to an active rider coming down to a combination! I also heard a rider in the ring yell out to kids to "stop running"! We can agree to disagree!
What a horrible display of riding by Roger Yves Bost @ 58 minutes. Literally hanging on to his horses mouth and yanking him the whole way round and see sawing! Really poor example to set to younger riders.
If it was 'horrific' the horse would call the whole thing off--they aren't being forced to jump. Some jumpers get very excited to jump and rush to meet the obstacles without listening to the rider's cues, and both could get hurt if the rider isn't able to bring the horse back into stride. The issue is that horses can't see distance very well for anatomical reasons and so depend upon their rider to place them at the right take-off point. It's a partnership. Smoother is better but safety is paramount.
What a horrific display by the rider at 51:42. Terrible equitation, i can't belive they let him ride, there must be some kind of test to make sure riders can actually ride. What a showcase of some people just have money and buy nice horses, but never learn to ride properly.

Congrats Mr. Puck on a fantastic win! (I'm part Austrian, my mom's dad)
I am not familiar with some of the terms. Could someone please me what seesawing is? I truly appreciate help. Have a great day!!

I SO admire the riders who do not feel the necessity to carry a whip.🥰
Most at this level don't carry a crop/whip.

My trainer gets mad at me if I don't but i don't WANT to carry one ...
I think the other horses in the ring during the round can be a distraction for some of the horses, creating a problem! Doesn't anyone else agree!!!

I thought the same...especially with how high these jumps are.

he always rides like that as well, disgusting how he's still allowed to own horses, let alone compete..
so anyway, we're just letting people get away with seesawing??
the fact that the rider actively seesawed and wasn't eliminated is horrific.
Who seesawed?
roger yves bost on ballerine du vilpion, you can really see it@@horsluva0758

yuck defending seesawing, in a sport where you can go bitless too. @@JohnAllenRoyce
