It takes a very patient teacher not to be yelling, Close, Faster, Slower, 50-50 dude. LOL. It's a true struggle for first timers to learn and even I after so many dips I still have to struggle to stay on the line.

The satisfaction level as a teacher to teach a willing student and a student to learn by making mistakes and later become a teacher themselves never gets old. Love to see it . Patience respect and discipline are the key.

What I love about this video is you literally see his confidence grow as he progressed with the spraying. In the beginning it was gentle and apprehensive. Then by the time he did the first layer of color, you see the movements becoming more fluid and consistent with the speed of the swipes. Great job!! I think I sense a promotion for this guy to help out with spraying in future videos (after more practice). 😬😉

Biggest difference is that Fonzy sweeps his arm side to side and pretty much stands in one spot... the noob keeps his arm in one position and relies on walking back and forth which creates a much more uneven flow/result.

You might benefit from a 3m handmasker you can combine tape and plastic of different dimensions or masking paper or just put your pre-combined rolls on and use the correct blade for plastic, which is much sharper than a paper blade.

I agree with other comments, this was a great video, not sure I'd say best but, one that I will watch again. You mentioned that although with a good tape job you shouldn't run into any bridging but things happen. Looks like Steve didn't have any problems, I've had several. I'm curious to know what you would do if you had some bridging where you weren’t expecting it? Razor blade to cut it? Or is there a different way? I've also not had any luck with the "peel when wet" I was thankful for the little more explanation you had in this video. I'm going to try it again to see if I understand the process better. Thanks for all the info!

I've seen one where the guy just taped the windscreen and back window, just to save dip, and then just sprayed the whole car? He then just peeled the windows, lights, door handles etc, still looked pretty good. Did it in a day and outside even.

This was a great video and very helpful. One thing that wasn't covered (maybe it's another video) is what to do between coats. Is the gun/equipment cleaned between coats? Is there a way to "preserve “ the equipment between coats so that time isn't lost while waiting for the equipment to be ready to use when the dip is dry and ready for the next coat? Inquiring minds...

He did a great job for his first time, I wanted to share a technique that I don’t know if it’s an actual thing but it’s some thing I do. I’m 5‘7“. When it comes to the lower parts it’s easier for me to get low enough to get a good spray. However something I see this guy doing and this is not criticism, I’m just pointing it out so that others can see, he has a very narrow stance. Which is why he’s taking multiple side steps. My advice is widen your stance and rock side to side. When you take steps and pause, you can get a run or an uneven coat. So to minimalize that, just Rock side to side, and when going with the length of the vehicle, plan your steps accordingly so you don’t stutter step or stumble.
I cannot remember the guys name in the video for the life of me, but he did a great job, I’m not criticizing him at all, just pointing out something I saw, I was also taught this technique myself.

I know this is a year old, but i was curious about a few things. What about the spaces between/underneath the door handles? Do you have to kinda angle the spray gun in towards it a little or something? How does it get the whole handle?
2nd, how about the inside door trim around door jams ect. Is that something do-able? So that way its not really jarring to see the original car color every time you open the door? Thx!
    Also, great job steve!

Have you ever done sectional shifts. Different sections maybe 2,3, or 5 section shift design. Instead of the same shift for the whole car is basic. Can you do one car sectioned with different shifts?
