There is an interesting mix of acting styles in Space 1999. On the one hand there are classically trained British actors like Leo McKern. Their performances tend to the theatrical and are in a projected style that emphasizes beauty of language. On the other, from Barbara Bain and Martin Landau you get something that owes more to the Actors' Studio. Both are excellent. Martin Landau was a fine actor and fully deserving of his Academy Award. There is a lot in Barbara Bain's performance as well, some of it very subtle. I always like the scene in the credits when you see her sailing towards electric doors that open just in time. The thing is her insouciance; other actors stand in front of the doors and wait for Bill and Nobby (or whoever the Pinewood stagehands were) to pull them open. Barbara Bain creates the illusion of some future inhabiting person who is so comfortable with a computer controlled environment that she has ceased to think about its more mundane aspects, she just trusts them to happen. That is clever, and that...is acting!
From the time when I was a little kid and first saw Mission: Impossible, Martin Landau is who I will always associate with that show rather than Peter Graves (though I like him, too).
I was able to meet him in 2015 in LA. One of my faves!
Thank you a lot for this video. For me, Martin Landau is Space:1999.
Thank you from a long life Space:1999 Italian fan.

This is really about Crimes and Misdemeaners. It is very interesting for that.
He never was in another Woody Allen film after Crimes and Misdemeanors right?
