The amount of drinking these people do is incredible. Is that all there is to their lives? John demonstrates how supposed “high class” people can be totally without class. Spain is beautiful but these people just trash it. What a nightmare.

Ir really depeneds on who you’re asking and where in spain ( just a couple cities have so much tourism) but many People are annoyed, not because they’re brits but because many of them destroy public spaces, drink way to much and cause trouble ( specially the young ones, seniors not so much).
@@claramaquedamateu1388Oh yeah I didn't mean that they would be annoyed because they are British, but I've watched all the previous episodes and there's so much public... uncouthness and belligerence in every episode. But of course they could be from anywhere and behave like that. Well, it's hard to imagine every retiree from Japan who happens to live abroad being like that but yeah, pretty much anywhere else could produce people like that, America, Canada, Australia, the rest of Europe, South America, etc.

It's great seeing them enjoying life in ways they see best. They're not letting others dictate how they should spend their old age.
Firstly, did that woman let rip around 30:00 when trying to get on the bike? Secondly, this is really quite depressing - sure, go out, have fun, and try to make the best of your last years. But drinking yourself into oblivion every night is kinda sad.

I think it’s because when we get older there’s nothing to lose in acting disgracefully as an OAP. Not my thing but as long as there’s no one getting hurt ok if you can live with it.
What I don't agree with is that if they are on Disabled allowance and what we used to call incapacity benefit, they never have to go for a medical assessment as the are in Spain. The poor buggers here have to go for the degrading medicals and many get taken off benefits. Lets face it, they look as if they shouldn't be on disabled benefits. Its a disgrace what they get away with. His medical treatment is paid for by the UK NHS incredible! bet you he doesn't have to wait as long for treatment as the people in the UK, we are dead by the time we get an appointment. Wish I hadn't started watching this as its depressed me. The only thing I liked was the beautiful Dobermann.

Fair point, but how many of them are actually claiming disability? As for using the NHS, well guessing most of them actually worked up to retirement age, so therefore paid their taxes and NI contributions the same as other retired people still living in the UK, they are also still paying UK taxes on their pensions. The current problems with the UK are not because of these people, more to do with gross mismanagement of the money it receives, a free for all for all and Sunday from the EU and the rest of the World, and plenty if time wasters in A&E for a cold, sore throat, splinter etc.
@@monkmell why? They are not going to be sent packing from Soay, just like the millions of EU nationals living in the UK will not be sent back to the EU. At least this lot contribute to the Spanish economy, unlike many EU nationals in the UK who send all their earnings, and benefits payments back to their home countries.

The Spanish and Uk health care system used to “cover” each other’s patients, but when Brexit happens...the Spaniards won’t want to pay for these UK pensioners taking their beds, money etc. Think about it. It’s sad but true. Funny thing is I bet these people probably voted for Brexit....they ‘seem to fit the profile’.
@Drom Assault How can that be, Drom? They aren't sending their pensions back to Britain. They either own or pay rents. Spanish local taxes still apply to them, they buy from Spanish stores.

It’s pathetic. Total desperation. Gross is what it is. I want to be classy. And I don’t want my son to have to worry for me. He had a rough childhood and was severely disabled in the war. He deserves and needs peace. I would never do this to him. Or to God. I lived hard. And fast. And rough. I would not want him to look down and see me acting that way now. Did I say that any of these abusive behaviours are "new, hun"? The way of patriarchy and male supremacy and European "white" supremacy and hyper-capitalism (therefore human slavery, human trafficking, anti-union, non-protected migrant labour laws, etc.) has made those behaviours cool and attractive until they were proving to have been accepted for far too long, left to go off-the-rails, dragging everyone down and destroying the health of many, globally, especially those marginalised and systemically oppressed.
