I agree with you. The lachlan video is the most detailed video I've ever seen. I'm always grateful to lachlan. And he seems to know muscle tissue and bones well, so he's a role model for me. Even if the same guy sees lachlan, lachlan is cool!!!
The absolute best guard retention video on TH-cam. This just answered all my problems. People are doing this to me and I couldn’t figure out what they were doing!
This has to be the best instruction I've seen regarding guard retention using the invert. The three ranges are broken down and its clear there are a number of drills that can be worked on to get you familiar with each range. Top Notch Instruction.
Not really, some people naturally pick things up that fits there body type and style. Inverting is not for me, i will scramble before I invert. Would you invert in a street fight on concrete? Not knocking inversion I'm just saying, its more of a sport BJJ thing and it fits certain people.
Professor Lachlan, how to prevent getting stack passed or double under passed when we are in middle of inverting or the guy is just waiting for inverting to end to lock his hands around my waist?
Awesome stuff, Lachlan. Please keep it up! Any chance you could teach your side control escape to guard as part of BJJ Fundamentals? I saw you escape to guard at Rickson's recent seminar in Melb. Very smooth :-)
Thanks. This is mustard! But "dumb question" please. You are in guard, opponent is passing on your right. You bring your left leg over, invert and spin out. You spin anti-clockwise. What's wrong with spinning clockwise? It seemed "easier" to me but that my simply be my body type and unfamiliarity with the technique. But is there a technical reason? Thanks for any help you can give, and apologies if I have missed something "obvious".
Professor can i ask a quiestion?I find my self the last few rolls "pushing" the guy when he tries to pass and then i re-guard.For example someones tries to kneecut or something at half guard,i frame a bit, then push him away and play from there. Is this a mistake? Its been working for me,my guard has been getting pretty better the past few weeks and im looking forward to "perfect" my guard game.
Lachlan is seriously the man ;) I watch all of his instructional videos, one of the best around.
Thanks Kompostboss3, glad you like the videos!
Kompostboss3 same here. I’m glad I found this channel, also a plus that he is Craig Jones instructor.
This aged well
I agree with you.

Me too he changed my bjj. I wish I couldved learned bjj from him when I was in Australia in 2004 lol. Maybe he wasnt tanning bjj in 2004 :)

I think that with this Lachlan classes my guard will reach a whole new level 🤯 Thank you 🙏
I see good black belts do this well. This explanation is right on. So helpful, thanks.
0:55 04:55 inverting on a pass
10:50 invert to triangle
My new fav YT Sensei! So much detail in every video, love it! Thank you from Perthy :D
I agree. Love Lachlan's "building" method of starting simple and then adding.

We just learned this in class, but ive been off for a week sick, so seeing the variations is indespensible! Thanks man.
Lachlan you have changed my bjj guard.
Appreciate it
Boy, did I need this vid. You're best, Lachlan.

This is so incredibly helpful.
Thank you.
Best explaination I ever heard about inverting. thx
Thanks Sensei Lachlan. Big fan from Vegas!
Been looking for a video that breaks this down like this...thanks!!!
Needed this. Thank you Lachlan.
I should've known you 15 years ago so that I could've learned really effecitve guard play and paid my passion in Melbourne during my working holiday.
blue belt and going inverted still pickles my brain lol... He makes it look so easy
If there was ever a video to bookmark, it's this one
Coming from a small teenager rolling with big guys this is gonna very helpful
He is a great instructor 👍
Where’s all the higher belts!? This guy is a living legend!
Best teacher
8:17 Im glad Jon Snow left the North for BJJ class, good for him
That dude in the back looks like John Snow (GOT) 6:19.
I’ll bet when you posted this you had no clue the final season would suck so bad.. :(
gay
these are great videos for spastics like me
Great video! Thanks!!
This is gold
This is great, thanks.
Are there examples of the inversion at 10:37 in competition? Usually I see it done inverting facing away instead of facing towards them.
Gold!
Liked just on the intro tune
Gracias!!!!
When inverting what happens if they try to stack you ?
I know purple belts that can’t invert to recover guard!! This ist so elementar for bjj 👌👌👌 thanks for the video

After watching it again, its not really an inversion, he's sort of gramby rolling back to guard..I do that.
Nice 👌🏼
I like Lachlan's videos. Still, this one is the best for me, and the last technique is a crème de la crème.
Jon snow, I see you
So sick
Thanks Lachy! Osu
Professor Lachlan, how to prevent getting stack passed or double under passed when we are in middle of inverting or the guy is just waiting for inverting to end to lock his hands around my waist?
Jitsu Lee, you have to intercept the hands before they connect around your waist. Once they have that its difficult to escape
I'm new to the technique (bjj in general) and having this same issue

Outstanding video.
To the white belt in the back laying down...sit up and show some respect.
Dink dink, dink, dink, dink dink.
Gee the students are spread out like theyre sun bathing.
Funny watching the poses in the background. I appreciate my gym even more that they don’t allow slouching or random seated movements!
Is your gym in an army prison?
