I, for one, would love if you had a second channel dedicated to "frill-free" original songs. Something more for pure creativity and less for the TH-cam algorithm.
As someone who's followed since before davie found this channel, I'm happy of the success you've found and just want you to know I'll always watch the original stuff! It's why I subbed all those years ago
The issue with youtube is that it creates this artificial need to top yourself at every video which sucks for so many great youtubers out there. I love your content man, whatever you come up with
Do you know the best thing about you? It's not your epic bass playing. It's your personality and character. Please continue to be such a great person. Thats all that matters in this world.
Test. why can't I comment... EDIT: Nevermind. I can now Okay, so, I'm deaf but I love music. So I learnt to play guitar. But I didn't sound great and people told me to stop. So I did. But then you uploaded a video on how to master any instrument, and you inspired me to, you know, "fuck haters, just play" kinda thing. And so I started playing again after like 7-8 years of not playing. I have 2 kids now (it's been 7 years and whatnot), and they're so surprised to see that their mother is in fact capable of playing guitar albeit very humbly. Whenever I play, they seem to love hearing it. I know that I might not sound good to others, and I haven't find any courage to play in front of them. But I can't thank you enough for encouraging me to play again. Although it's just in front of my children, I'm happy to see that my audience loves to listen to the music I played Thank you, Charles. Thank you so much
I hope you keep playing and keep getting better. It's inspiring to hear about people who have overcome their own struggles and persevered in the face of what seems like impossible odds.
Glad to know you’re multi-instrumental. Started with piano myself in grade school. Shifted to drums, then just played the radio. Bass was my mid-life crisis, and has become a part of me. The more instruments, the better. There’s such a broad variety of options. Play the piano sometime for us!
Lol you gotta have Cliff in there too😂😂😂... I feel like cliff, Victor, Marcus and Charles would be like such an explosion of Bass Creativity... Metallica would become the Basst Band Ever
"In the end, my love for music…has always been stronger than my fear of failure." Charles, I'm going to steal this when mentoring my music majors. Thank you, so much!
Yes,collab with Nathan. & yes, another collab/rematch with Ichika & Davie, also Zander. Didn't know you've been playing piano 1st before bass. Would like to see you play piano one day.
It’s cool seeing how your playing changed over the years. Your early clip reminded me a lot of how cliff looked when he played. And yes to a collab with Nathan!
It’s pretty cool to see this side of Charles. I meet a handful of musicians a month and your name is known to quite a few I run into. For the musicians I meet that aren’t familiar, I describe you as “the whitest bassist ever” that gets a giggle then jaws drop when they hear you play. They become instantly amazed
Charles: "Your English is better than my any other language" - now that is exactly the humble, respectful and open-minded attitude that I would love to see in many YT comment sections, instead of the arrogant "Learn English before commenting" type of hate. Thumbs up!

This is crazy. Just feels like yesterday I saw you in the first video Davie featured you in. I subbed when you were at like 10k subs and now you're over half way to a million. So surreal
I had to put my guitars away a few years ago. I stopped listening to music even; I just got angry and toxic. I started playing guitar when I was six because of the way I felt, well, that and the Beatles. I probably went three years without playing or listening to music. Then one ugly night as I was driving my eighteen wheeler through the mountains on my island home, Beethoven happened. Dusted off my telly and held all the 6L6's from my 67 Super Reverb and felt magic again. The glass slide that once was my voice had sat on the windowsill like grandmas kitchen window crystals. So long it sat there no one knew what it was for. It still fits like a wedding ring.Personal resistance, worries of opinions from family.Hazaa! Life is a musical and we are to sing and dance as long as the music plays. Trust me when I tell you, the universe does not work properly unless we are chasing our bliss. Good on you man. The day we can attend music concerts again; Could you please gather the nearby bassists/musicians you've been collaborating with AND BOOK A CONCERT VENUE SO WE CAN PAY TICKETS AND WATCH YOU LIVE!!?! I would pay alot to see you guys
Man I knew you before your fame thru Davie! I discovered you when you played that hallelujah song with your piccolo bass and was absolutely blown away by your performance. I was happy when your fame picked up speed thru Davie. "Hey, no way, that's Charles! Awesome!"
It’s really nice knowing more about you and feeling like you’re not just another guy I subscribed to because you’re an amazing bass player. Hearing your struggles and making your way through is refreshing and motivating
There are maybe 2-3 TH-cam channels I sub to, that upon hitting the play button, I automatically tap like before I even watch the video just because i already know I’m going to like it. I don’t even play bass, I did take piano and violin but tenor sax is my main instrument. Your music, your story and positivity is a great inspiration to people never doubt it! Thank you.
Man, you are the best one. I'm a drummer, but I decided to start to play bass because of you. Your musicality mingling perfectly with the technique makes you the Petrucci of bass (the velocity does not kill the musicality). I really admire you, thank you.
That really is the pits. Perhaps you can start your own band? Don’t let a bunch of haters ruin your fun! Playing music is one of the most important things in life! Don’t let fools rob you of it. There’s an old saying, “living well is the best revenge”, I think this applies here too...
Your subscribers need to tap that bell, baby. I tapped the bell and I get all your stuff, good, bad or indifferent. I don't even play the bass but enjoy your videos.
hey man, i just became an official fan but i have been following you for a while, I am a bassist from colombia. i am glad for your knowledge an the friendly an funny way of your videos, keep going like that!!
omg YES please collab with nathan, he's a sweetheart and gave out great lessons and is technically freaking sharp AF, I would have never thought playing deantown possible without following his video at 0.5x speed for hours and hours. I wonder what you can do with him and help him find his own voice? I feel he kept doing covers and should really make sure his own composition reaches the audience. I really really like Nathan, and if you can help him out it'll be awesome
Thanks for sharing your talent with us, and thanks for not quitting. Came for your bass battle with Davie, stayed because of your musical expressiveness and sense of humor. I love the one-on-one battles and collabs you have done with other musicians, but I really want to see more of the BASS ARMY! The giant collabs you arrange with your viewers are my favorite thing.
We saw it with the previous battle, Charles and Nathan you are a great team ; with the next collab I can already imagine that crazy blend of soft tapping ballads, crazy grooves, kick ass slap, sweeping, weird time signatures, feelings and more ; it will be the new age of progressive alternative technical jazz metal... 🤟🏻🙏🎶
You are such a nice person. I enjoy watching your videos. It gives me peace and inspires me for my own playing. Please go on and all the best for you and your family.
I get your music on YTmusic. be listening then hear it and go "Sounds like Charles...yup sure is." Class act and from the ground up. I think I have been listening to you for a long time. Only now I see how talented you really are. JAH LOVE
You are very straight forward in your communication, and I think we all appreciate that. Obstacles are there for us all. I had a band teacher tell me when I was 11 that I had the aptitude and ability to continue on to professional musician, but my parents didn't support it, and despite success in a larger band later it was the band teacher himself that got in my way. He wouldn't meet me 1/2 way at all (when I wanted to give up 1st chair in one instrument to learn another one), was a real jerk in general, and I didn't have the $ to go with a private instructor. So in spite and frustration, I walked away. Teachers do indeed have huge impact on us in our youth, and sometimes it is a negative impact. Do what is right for the student and their future - not the teacher's immediate wishes. Same goes for these "hate comment" posters - do something more productive already, instead of being intimidated by someone else's success. Measure only your own progress. I'm trying to learn bass now and guys like you inspire me to do it - even though I'm a lot older now. I've always wanted to learn bass or guitar, and saxophone, so I'm doing it now as a complete beginner (but with some musical know-how) - and encouraging my wife to pick up guitar as well for a shared experience. AND I'm considering a career change to teacher (not music teacher though), so maybe I can help some kids out by not treating them the way school treated me. Music is good for us all, and learning to play anything helps our brains. I hope everyone tries it, and thank you for inspiring us to do it. I will never reach your level of play, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the journey.
i like how theres just one drummer and its dave weckl, my favourite drummer as well. saw that guy twice in my little home town playing with mike stern and this guy just conjures some magic no one else has. just on another level.
Hi Charles, I suggest to improve your spoken voice with any kind of studio mic. Then you could increase the distance a little and the pops would be gone.
Come on Man... You are one of the best Musicians on the Planet... You are Wonderful great and you are Great Motivation and inspiration for us... Please Keep up the Flame... And Rock on... Thank you so much
Hey Charles, it’s probably worth letting people know on this channel when you release new songs on Spotify I had no idea you had more up there till I decided to listen to some of your older stuff today, they’re all great!
This is way cool Charles a very serious collaboration with Nathan Navarro working together and making a cool piece together with various different techniques would be a dream come true you two are my favorite guys on TH-cam
When I saw Charles on Davies channel, I thought to myself “This man has a gift.” I had to find his channel. I am elated that his channel has grown so much and look forward to all his videos. Keep up the great work Charlie B!
You chose my favorite drummer Dave Weckl! Phenomenal drummers catch my attention as a bassist. I’ve played with drummers that aren’t aware of what I as a bassist am doing and it’s frustrating. Playing with Dave would be a dream!
Charles I am nowhere near the skill-set you have and I've been playing bass but I still love it thank you for all your wonderful wonderful videos and shows
Your videos are a joy to watch, your dedication to your craft is admirable, and you’ve inspired many musicians with your output, myself included. Thanks for making them.
Well done as are nearly all of your videos. As a retired pro musician, I appreciate your honesty. I was also happy to have guessed you started out as a classical pianist. I was started by my parents at age 4. But back in the 1960s, you couldn’t simply bring any keyboard prior to the polyphonic synth age and I wanted to get some positive attention I had never gotten before. So I switched to guitar. I also learned drums, bass (not like you though), mandolin, saxophone, and tons of electronics back when everything was real, physical, and usually quite heavy. Ever have to carry around a Hammond B4 cut down and the massive dual speaker that was designed for it? Ugh! Now everything is so light and can do so much more. Oddly, the only things that have stayed the exact same are the Ampeg SVT 8x10 bass cabinet and the Marshall A & B 4x12 guitar cabinets. Not once have either of these products ever gone out of production. Go figure? Glad to see you and your fiancé are still happily together and it seems as much else in your life in every respect so doing well also. Cheers and best wishes!
You're a unique person, Charles. I think 15 years ahead, then there will be no one who can compare with you. If you continue as you have done until now, good luck on the journey.
You are such a talented and hardworking musician, and beside that you seem like a chill dude. I am happy you are getting success. You are indeed one of the best musicians I know.. perhaps even the best.
Any time you ask if I want you to battle/collab with anyone, the answer is always YES. That stuff is your best content imo. (I like your other content too just to be clear).
I'm very grateful that you find time to make your signature music as well with TH-cam, so I'm sure you've grown a lot. Especially since you've shown us how versatile and talented you are as a musician, and not just a bassist.
I think there's a genuine understanding between you and your subscribers, we understand the fluff and how it helps you get views, you do it in a way it adds to the entertainment value of the video at least.
no questions. thank you for what you said: my love for music (...) has always been stronger then fear of failure.' this is where I am now. thank you again.
Thanks for the Q&A, you comment a few videos ago about playing scales was dead on for me, helped to stretch out that fretting hand and learning the fingerboard. Keep the videos coming and thanks!
Came here from Davie. Also the both of you got me into bass. Mine comes in around July. Also me and the family love your straight playing videos. Throw down some sick beats or songs. No thrills or catchy titles needed.
Any more questions?
You're great, love your style and sound. And your tapping book link is broken
What gear do you use to get such awesome bass tone.
No, but I did want to say thank you as always for working so hard to keep putting out interesting material.
What is your program do you use to record your bass? What's your Audio Interface? And do you use pedals?
@@juliusbawa2260 thanks, should be fixed now!

You just went from awesome to legendary with this, Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for that video. It was great to hear the personal side of you. Keep the vids coming.
Charles I don't play bass I enjoy guitar but I gotta say ur ability is inspiring
You are such a nice dude Charles. So glad your channel caught on. You deserve it.
the background music is sooooo beautifull
I think there's a genuine understanding between you and your subscribers, we understand the fluff and how it helps you get views, you do it in a way it adds to the entertainment value of the video at least.
no questions. thank you for what you said: my love for music (...) has always been stronger then fear of failure.' this is where I am now. thank you again.
YOOOO thanks for liking my comment. glad to have heard of your amazing piccolo bass solo. sick stuff man
Thanks for the Q&A, you comment a few videos ago about playing scales was dead on for me, helped to stretch out that fretting hand and learning the fingerboard. Keep the videos coming and thanks!
Very nice video. I really enjoyed the very soothing music in the background. Thanks!
You deserve every bit of it! Just keep your feet on the ground man! :) God bless you!
You are a great creator and I think your an epic tappa
Hey Charles you’re amazing!
Came here from Davie. Also the both of you got me into bass. Mine comes in around July.
Also me and the family love your straight playing videos. Throw down some sick beats or songs. No thrills or catchy titles needed.
Besides your incredible talent you are the most down to earth TH-camr 👑
