Great instructional, just finished your steering wheel removal walkthrough. Do you happen to know, regarding the b7, if the 4-spoke and 3-spoke non-s/line airbags are interchangeable?

Hey there! We're not covering the A3 platform yet, but hope to in the future if we get enough support from our viewers. Be very wary of changing from single stage to dual stage airbags. This exact scenario is also on the A4/S4 models between B6 and B7. There are a couple of options to wire them up, but no proof that they actually discharge correctly in the case of an accident. If you search around online you may find the images of an Audi A4 B6 owners car who upgraded the steering wheel to a B7 one and had a bang. The airbag did not deploy, and it was a considerable knock! As it's safety related, stick to factory just in case and be secure knowing it will deploy should the worst happen, --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! You guys happen to know if an Audi A6 4 spoke 06-08 air bag fits an Audi A4 2008 4 spoke steering wheel if it doesn't do you know any other Audi air bag that is compatible with an A4 4 spoke steering wheel thanks
Hey there It's not something we would want to advise on TBH. The airbag is so key in driver safety that changing to another airbag has possible safety issues. Personally I'd stick with factory airbag and upgrade the steering wheel (which is what I assume you really want to change??) May be worth asking around on the forums on that, but bear in mind that there is always a possibility it may not deploy if it is not the original factory airbag designed for that model. Just because the electrical plugs may be the same, it does not mean the pin assignment will be the same, or that the signal sent by the car is the same as that required by the airbag. It's a bit of a can of worms TBH. But best of luck with it! Please be sure to support us: subscribe to our TH-cam channel and help spread the word!

Total Technik I need help I’m just trying to replace the silver out lining amongst the rings on the steering wheel, on Audi A4 B8 how do I just do that?
Hey guys, I was wondering if I can upgrade my A4 B7 steering wheel to one with the multifunction buttons. Have you ever done this before? Do I need any special sets of cables? Best regards
Hey there! Almost certainly I would say yes it would be possible. I have not done this adaptation myself, but I see no reason why it cannot be done. You may have to upgrade a couple of components within the steering wheel assembly. I'd recommend doing some Google research or visiting one of the Audi forums like audi-sport.net as more info on this upgrade should be available. Best of luck!
Hey there! Physically yes, but B6 was single stage airbag and B7 was dual stage airbag. So not straight forward. You'll have to do DIY wiring to adapt, and there's no guarantee that it would actually fire in the case of an accident. So, has a safety consideration. --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! Easier to buy a replacement airbag. Get a used one if budget is tight as new can be pricecy. BUt trying to take the airbag apart is not a good idea :-(
It’s easy. You must unscrew 3 torx screws and remove the metal part. Then pull on the plastic part until you remove it. The airbag will not explode without worries.

You guys happen to know if an Audi A6 4 spoke 06-08 air bag fits an Audi A4 2008 4 spoke steering wheel if it doesn't do you know any other Audi air bag that is compatible with an A4 4 spoke steering wheel thanks
Hey there
It's not something we would want to advise on TBH. The airbag is so key in driver safety that changing to another airbag has possible safety issues.
Personally I'd stick with factory airbag and upgrade the steering wheel (which is what I assume you really want to change??)
May be worth asking around on the forums on that, but bear in mind that there is always a possibility it may not deploy if it is not the original factory airbag designed for that model. Just because the electrical plugs may be the same, it does not mean the pin assignment will be the same, or that the signal sent by the car is the same as that required by the airbag.
It's a bit of a can of worms TBH. But best of luck with it!

Total Technik I need help I’m just trying to replace the silver out lining amongst the rings on the steering wheel, on Audi A4 B8 how do I just do that?
I have AUDI A6 tdi v6 2,5 2004 and bought a used passenger door and the key remote control cant close it what shall I do?
is it the same for a audi A6 4F?? and how do you change the passenger siden airbag? do i really need to change the hole dashboard??
Hey guys, I was wondering if I can upgrade my A4 B7 steering wheel to one with the multifunction buttons. Have you ever done this before? Do I need any special sets of cables? Best regards
Hey there! Almost certainly I would say yes it would be possible. I have not done this adaptation myself, but I see no reason why it cannot be done. You may have to upgrade a couple of components within the steering wheel assembly.
I'd recommend doing some Google research or visiting one of the Audi forums like audi-sport.net as more info on this upgrade should be available.
Best of luck!
Hi
I have a B6 and I want to change my steering wheel. Can i replace the B6 steering wheel with a B7 one? Thanks
Hey there! Physically yes, but B6 was single stage airbag and B7 was dual stage airbag. So not straight forward. You'll have to do DIY wiring to adapt, and there's no guarantee that it would actually fire in the case of an accident. So, has a safety consideration.

How about if I ONLY want to remove the airbag cover to paint rings? I still have to remove the entire airbag piece??
Hey there! Yes, personally I would. It's easy to remove, and you really don't want to be dismantling airbags for poetntial safety reasons.
Good luck!

hello, I have a question - I replaced the battery on my s4 b6 on Wednesday and the air bag control lights up, I do not know why? can you help? greet Barbara.
You'll need some kind of diagnostic software to reset the airbag. Try that, and if it stays off you're all set. It happens occasionally, but shouldn't really.

will this work for a 2011 Q7?
We're not covering the Q7 platform yet. But we will actually be doing some Q7 coverage to test the water in 2-3 months time. If things go well, maybe we can extend to full coverage for the Q7!
If we get enough support from our viewers we can continue to epand and cover additional models in the near future!

how do you remove the whole black airbag plastic cover? i need to replace my airbag plastic cover as it look old and the emblem snapped too, thank you
Easier to buy a replacement airbag. Get a used one if budget is tight as new can be pricecy.
BUt trying to take the airbag apart is not a good idea :-(
It’s easy. You must unscrew 3 torx screws and remove the metal part. Then pull on the plastic part until you remove it. The airbag will not explode without worries.
I have a question pls
I just fited 2009 audi a3 flat bottom wheel on my 2007 audi a6 c6 but the buttons and horn don't work 😕
Did you manage to find a workaround for this?
