My grandfather, R. L. Harvey, was the principal of Haultain-it was there he started the School Patrol because he was so concerned about little ones crossing the increasingly busy roads. My grandmother sewed sashes from flour sacks. Grandpa was an artist, and painted murals on the school walls-all lost in the fire, I’m sure. When I was very young, he took me to school with him sometimes-I well remember the giants in Grade Six, who were all so kind to me, and I remember the “Cottage School” very well.
Firstly, thanks for watching! I love the old sandstone schools, and they retain and resemble so much city history. SJ School truly is one of the more gorgeous ones!

Thanks for your family history with the school! It's such a beautiful old building, and I'm glad it's been kept in such good condition.
