    ETFs are perfect tools to build a diversified portfolio, what's more it only requires minimal effort and low costs, leaving traditional fund investments looking inferior! In this video, I’ll be your guide to the 5 ETF categories that you cannot go wrong buying.
    First up, the classic S&P 500 index ETFs. Investing here is like placing your bets on the champions of the US economy. With top picks like VOO, SPLG, IVV, and SPY, you'll own a piece of top companies in the US such as Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon. And the numbers don't lie - their returns hovering around 10% over the years, think about it, a $10,000 investment could have blossomed to $29,000 in a decade with minimal effort!
    Craving more growth potential? The Nasdaq-100 index ETFs like QQQ and its cost-effective sibling QQQM are your go-to, especially if you prefer tech stocks over other industries. But as always, with high growth comes higher volatility. For those seeking stability with a side of steady income, dividend ETFs such as VIG and SCHD could be your go-to, since they are more likely to be established, profitable companies, you can invest with a peace of mind.
    For those who don't want to miss out on the dynamic smaller companies, the US Total Stock Market ETF, VTI, is your ticket to the broader market. And if investing in US alone doesn't sound right, you can tap into global market by investing in Global ETFs. These ETFs like ACWI and VT offer unparalleled diversification, enable you to minimize the geopolitic risks!
    Which ETFs would you pick? Let me know in the comment!

    • @ZietInvests

      Hello, index funds as mentioned by most US youtubers refer to their Mutual Funds, but since most of us are from non-US countries, we can only access those funds via ETFs (exchange traded funds). That means we can just focus on ETFs, that tracks many things like Index, Industry, country etc. Hope this clarifies!

    Question-with the WHT imposed, how long would we have to hold stocks or minimum return of investments to outweigh the WHT in US say 30%?

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there!The impact of the 30% WHT on your investments can vary based on several factors like the dividend yield of the stock, the change in the stock's price, and your investment duration/entry/exit price.
      In general, to outweigh the WHT, your investment needs to generate returns higher than the WHT paid, as well as the fees incurred for the transaction (note: commission fees/trade for US and LSE market is different).
      I've made a video comparing this exact scenario (VOO vs CSPX), can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/zwpJIP1aNFI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RZp_GwltyjOWioEF

      hi, withholding tax are usually done automatically by the broker, so there is no need for us to calculate/report any of it. It's already taken into account before you receive your dividends/or changes in capital gains of those ETFs.

    • @ZietInvests

      Both are alright! M+Global for the ease of funding using MYR, IBKR gives cheaper fees, but it requires one more step using WISE (look up for tutorial in my video!), it depends which one is more important for you - fees or easy deposit?
      That being said, if you are to choose M+Global, there's a promotion going on until end of November where you can deposit RM 1000 and get free GRAB shares lolll, but you need to access via my link 🤭
      m.global.mplusonline.com/lego/marketing?id=5&model=page&lang=en_US&_scnl=MYMG
      or for Shariah compliant
      m.global.mplusonline.com/kh/status/entry/transit?lang=en_US&_scnl=C52K
      As for IBKR, link is in the description!

      Short term, tech etf is very likely to boom, maybank is the safe bet as it won't have too big of drawdown but there's not much upside either. The word better highly depends on your risk appetite.

Btw can u explain or make a video on differences between ETFs , Index Funds and Unit Trust/Mutual funds other than their differences in fees . I believe UT fees are considerably higher compared to ETFs . So other thn fees , what are the differences since all 3 investments allows you to diversify and have more exposure to the market ? • @tteh599

    sorry noob question. There is an option when funding IBKR for US ETF purchase, to select which currency u want to deposit. If i plan to transfer from WISE balance, is there any difference if I were to choose USD or SGD? Thanks

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey, no worries at all! There's no such thing as a noob question here, we're all learning together!
      When you're transferring funds to IBKR for purchasing US ETFs, the currency you choose for the deposit can make a difference: If you select USD, you'll be transferring US dollars directly into your account. This is generally straightforward if your WISE balance is already in USD because it avoids any conversion fees or exchange rate fluctuations.
      On the other hand, if you choose to deposit in SGD and your WISE balance is in SGD, you won't need to convert it before sending. However, you will need to convert your SGD to USD within the IBKR platform to purchase US ETFs, as they are denominated in USD. This conversion within IBKR is usually at a very competitive rate, but it's still an extra step and potentially a small fee.
      So... the main difference is where the currency conversion happens (before the transfer with WISE or after the transfer within IBKR) and the respective rates and fees! For most of us from Malaysia (MYR), the difference between sending USD or SGD has very marginal difference because we're gonna convert anyway!
      Hope this clarifies ;)

    If same yield, I buy more shares for cheap etf, will I make more profit than expensive etf for less shares?

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! That's a common question and a good one to ask. The short answer is: not necessarily. The number of shares you own isn't as important as the total value of your investment and the return rate.
      Whether an ETF is "cheap" or "expensive" per share doesn't directly affect the profit you'll make if the yield (percentage return) is the same. What matters is how much you've invested in total and the return rate on that investment. Hope this helps ;)

    Hi, what are the minimum monthly investment is recommended for s&p500? is monthly RM200 too low? considering the fees and so on.

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, at RM 200, while its a good starting point, its a bit low due to brokerage fee being about 0.35 USD (RM 1.50+-), which is about 0.75%.
      Very decent already, but if possible try to make it below 0.50% (meaning invest at RM 400 instead, bimonthly)

      Hello, there is not right or wrong to your question, 1 is more diversified while the other is more concentrated on S&P500, its a bit overlap for sure - so depends if you wanna take higher risks or not!
