    Awesome video Armando , you are the man . I am not sure what the smart city would be or should be but I am looking forward to seeing what you are discovering for us . blessings friend ,enjoy your trip

    Really interesting, I do not usually think of smart cities but this is quiet mind blowing.

    What if i tell you Armando that you are living in the matrix right now! "This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill -- the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill -- you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." Morpheus.
    love the video we just need to make things happen.

    I love it, We have the tech and it's possible. Something I'd be eager to see, Too bad I feel the majority would have a hard time adapting, especially with new "laws" put in place. We won't this for maybe another decade. Look at this whole "smart car" thing for example

    what I think is that they do have the information already but they are working on how to get the most money of society . with a plan that it looks so enticing that we would not deny it

    I was thinking: instead of stagnant highway signs, why not provide real time traffic information from the sign, to our "always on" devices or Smart Cars?

    You're totally right with everything except the self driving cars. The companies (especially the US ones, Google and Tesla) want us to believe that we already have the technology to make this real, but in fact totally autonomous driving is years away.
    In the moment the cars need extremly precise data about the area they're driving, so its only like driving on virtual rails.
    for real self driving cars the systems have to get along with extreme dynamic situations, like construction areas, or car accidents which aren't cordoned of. And this of course without internet, because you can't trust into an always stable connection...

    A 'smart city' is one that doesn't let I.C.L.E.I take control of it. x

    +Armando Ferreira great video - looking forward to hearing more! Definitely using light posts for wifi, charging stations for electric vehicles like you said. Charging stations for other electronic devices. Roads that have the ability to charge vehicles that drive on them. Wireless power would be amazing - while in the city, your devices charge automatically while you walk around. Smarter traffic light/pedestrian traffic management - improve traffic flow in the city. Video looked amazing, by the way...

      +Jason Leiter You're right, one thing they talked about is the smarter traffic/light pedestrian traffic management. Having speakers integrated, etc. The possibilities are endless and these poles are EVERYWHERE!

  • @BerkayGeckil
    @BerkayGeckil 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    +Armando Ferreira As a mechanical engineering student I've some concerns about that kind of technologies. Well, it's really cool to know that we are gonna have cities like the one you mentioned very soon (even now ) but the another think that we better keep in our minds are 'hacking issues' and 'renewable energy sources' -You've probably heard about Jeep hacking- Anyway, as we take progress about making our cities smarter, we should also focus on smart cities that work with renewable sources and also in a 'secure' way... Finally, this video is really cool and I'm looking forward to see more ;)

    Have little transmitters on road/speed limit signs and little receivers connected to vehicles. That way a signal can be sent to the vehicle when someone is speeding, and automatically slow the vehicle down to the actual speed limit regardless of how much the driver is pressing on the pedal, and just make exceptions for police, ambulances, and fire trucks. I know that's kind of a long shot, but it would be cool, I mean we already have self driving cars, so I don't see why not lol :)

    Smart is great option but for a big cost also, control is power and everyone wants power. Are we willing to give that much power to the goverment, corporation in order to have a wireless charger? Love tech but I will think twice before asking for it. Just a thought, as always love your videos

    A smart city is autonomous enough to eliminate most work. Trash cans that notifies a driver it's ready for pickup? How about a self driving truck emptying it instead? Or the waste getting sucked down and traveling to the recycling facility by pipelines? Repetitive work needs to be made obsolete.

    Theme cities effectent cities that are beautiful and thoughtful while built around a central them like gaming . Image a city where homes are built for games hotel business Amusement night life .every aspect around the city built with a single them like sports science space outdoors actively things like that specialized cities.

    Yeah sure it all sounds great, but I'd much rather live in smart nature. Post human world is on its way. By the way post human mean beyond human, or after human. The technology itself is great, there's no doubt about that, but what's not great about it is that certain people will use this great technology as bate, to achieve their goal of global village.

    Wow that’s awesome!
    Let’s pollute the air further,
    with massive loads of Wi-Fi & radio frequency toxicity into the air
    so we can all get higher reoccurrences of Cancers at alarming rates in this country.
    Splendid! Let’s terminate ourselves faster.

    I would not like a city where street lights dim and turn off - to make a smart city we need to think about all the effects tech could have and turning off the lights encourages crime and makes people feel unsafe. I likes the air quality concept though

      @foulkesyboyz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also did anyone talk about hacking at your conference? I remember reading in the news a couple of months ago that someone in America had hacked an entire city's traffic light system (lol)! All things we need to think about before rushing in :D but cool ideas nonetheless

  • @MacDaddyDev

    The whole concept is stunning. However it has a bad side to it. I believe this opens doors for a city to be come the real life equivalent to the Chicago seen in "Watch_Dogs". It also looks like it would be a power hog.

    Warning: Opinions
    Self driving cars must be eliminated, there are too many jobs in the transportation industry at risk. And what about privacy concerns with all these wireless tracking posts disguised as street lamps? Technology is starting to go in a direction that I don't really like. We're on the brink right now and within the next 20 years we're going to see a lot of industry lost to robotics and automation. If we have everything in a city, from the stoves and toilets to the cars and fire alarms, imagine the havoc some nefarious hackers could cause. I'm not saying its probable, but in the case of a self-driving car, there's no way in hell I'd let it drive itself, that's a life risk right there. Granted I've seen Google's demos and I'm sure that their system is safe as can be, but I know that if I'm driving, I'm not going to make any mistakes. I'm not putting my life in the hands of a machine, but soon I might just hand over my job to one.

    Put motion sensors of some sort on cars, that way the car stops automatically when something or someone is in the way (within so many feet.) That way people stop getting into accidents, and destroying their vehicle, or in some cases prevent really hurting someone!

  • @ceesparxxx

    Have roads that can charge you car while you drive on them!!! That would be pretty insane, kind of like having a road that can wirelessly charge your car while you drive!!!!
