I feel very happy to share with you, my self-lyricised and self-­composed Vitthal Abhang for the Ashadhi Ekadashi that is approaching soon.
This year - 17th July 2024 - is a very special Holy day in Hindu religion, called as "Ashadhi Ekadashi". This day is the eleventh day of Hindu calendar month of Ashadh (June-July), in which one special religious procession starts from
Alandi to Pandharpur. All Vaishavas - the followers of Vishnu - walk this long distance for 15 days and reach Pandharpur to meet Lord PANDURANG on the day of Ashadhi Ekadashi.
During this procession, many Paalakhis that belong to many saints, along with their thousands of followers - regardless of their caste, creed, age, gender - participate in huge numbers walk; dancing, reciting the name of Lord Vishnu, which is a real spiritual, energetic Waree for them every year.
My Abhang expresses the feelings of the devotees who cannot go personally in the Waree procession but with their mind and soul, they walk the distance and reach Pandharpur with pure devotion and imagination.
I myself walk in this Waree so I can feel the emotions of the devotees who cannot have this real worldly experience.
My lyrics bring out all the essence of Waree through my musical composition and my Vitthal Painting too. Hope you all would also feel this devotional aura through my notes, lyrics and colours and enjoy the visuals too.
