Wonderful! Thank you so much Eddie and friends for this!...very surprised to hear about the influence of Guston and no remarks or influence from the German's like Baselitz or the compositional structure of Max Beckmann's paintings like "Birds Hell".......
I like his work but this is a largely pointless exercise as he doesn't extend anything or develop any ideas with his words. Not the most enigmatic of people if I were him I would let the painting do the talking.
Not everybody is comfortable being the center of attention doing interviews. I’m sure what goes on in his mind is very interesting, he just chooses not to speak it. I bet he didn’t want to do this interview and was pressured into it to please the art world people.
@@welcometogoodburgerhomeoft4766 You are probably right. Maybe I was a bit hasty to dismiss him. He is definitely likeable and I do love his work. I am a painting student at the moment and I find the talking aspect difficult to manage too. Tend to talk around the painting.
Thank you everyone !! Another terrific conversation. Phong is always just the very best. Thank you again.
Thank you for the upload, great stuff!
Reminds me of the cubism-influenced alternative comics of Austin English. Great stuff, love Eddie’s use of purples.

@@Charlie-ye2er I like his short interview called "Eddie Martinez whistles while working" where he sort of elaborates on his process.
